Sard reacted to Taynted_Fayth in Bombers vs Riders GDT
That backwards TD by Washington was awesome. What does it say about how bad the Riders secondary is when a receiver can literally stutter step backwards like 5+ yards untouched

yeah, Dressler was like five yards deep in the endzone when 45 dragged him down. That was some Sam Losco level greasy there.
Hope Demski is okay. Hate seeing promising young guys go down like that.

I think that will probably go down as the best game the Riders play all year. Straight down-hill now as the momentum of losing starts to really kick in. Have seen this far too many times with the Bombers too. The only thing that can stop the bad momo is good leadership, and we all know how comfortable Kevin Glenn is with losing.

Sard reacted to sweep the leg in Bombers vs Riders GDT
It seemed like he had happy feet at times. That one play in particular where he took off with it. He danced himself right into his offense line before he took off. He had great protection and put himself in a bad spot.
edit: re his accuracy, the pass to Dressler in the endzone was bad, but I thought the other miss in the endzone was Denmark's fault. If he doesn't slow down that pass would have been on the money.

Entertaining game. You could plainly see which team had not played yet. Emotion had to carry the Riders because their schemes and talent just can't. Glenn is going to get hurt. That's a given, and when he does it will be an awful long year for them.
Ego Jones is their Achilles heel. All bluster. He's got nothing.

I'd like to give props to the ref who gave a detailed explanation of why Chris Jones was wrong and couldn't challenge the last tackle on Glenn in the second OT.

agree completely with you.
they made a big deal about this. Not overturning close ones. Too bad if we dont like it. which was obnoxious.
Then they go ahead and overturn a close call (actuallly wasn't really close) .
Confirming what everyone thinks about the c'mon centre.

And the crazy thing is the C'mon Centre saw enough in their eyes to overturn the call. I thought they weren't going to overturn close calls so I guess this wasn't a close call. I'm ok with the call if they use the same standard of catch / no catch all season but I have my doubts that they will.

I really enjoyed watching Hurl tell off Glenn at the coin toss for OT.
He was speaking for me!

I wouldn't put the non fumble on the refs... they called it right on the field, it was the C'mon Centre that screwed that one up... is that 3 for 3 on those calls so far this year?
Agreed that the unneccesary roughness was a marginal call at best.
Overall though, I actually thought the reffing was decent tonight.

Can anyone actually explain how catching the ball with both hands can ever be considered not having control of the ball? He caught it, and went to tuck it and had it slip loose... pathetic call by the C'mon Centre.

He actually catches it, tucks it and as he's getting up to run he punches the ball out with his other hand... if that isn't a catch and then loss of possession then I haven't been watching football long enough (I started remembering games in 84). The c'mon centre really fumbled that call ?

Grant dropped the frickin' ball when he was getting up to run with it....but oh no that's not what we all saw.

Lankford doesn't do it for me on returns. If Fogg is down then hopefully Thorpe is ready next week.
I liked some of Lapos playcalling in the second Q - receiver sweeps. I want to see Flanders next week, spell harris a bit.

Didn't watch. Listened. Seemed like bombers were tenuous early. Not having played week one.
Seems to my uneducated ear they there is room for quick improvement. Now they have real game time. They can make adjustments
we won. I'll take it

Another big influence on the game?
The C'mon Centre.
That turnover they didn't call changed the game, and that's not supposed to happen.

I could not believe they ruled Grant's fumble an incomplete pass, especially after the controversial call they made in the Stamps/RB's game, zero consistency.

1. Dressler
2. Adams
3. Medlock and special teams in general
Honorable mention to the refs ans the cmon center for trying their best to help out the riders.

Brutal call on the fumble against the bombers. What else is new?

Sard reacted to TrueBlue4ever in Convert Percentages
But by that exact same logic, a team that goes 3/3 and wins by 2 points will say that going for it was the difference between winning and losing. The incorrect assumption is that the single point is automatic, when it no longer is (1 in 10 will miss), and you are giving away points by not taking the sure 1. Look at BC-Edmonton last week. Lions missed two 1 point converts and lost the game by 3. had they gone for 2 and made both (the stats say they have a better chance than not of getting them both) that's 4 extra points and they win the game instead of losing. So your "reality" argument cuts both ways. The numbers suggest that the reward would outweigh the risk over the long term, and that the "reality" is that more teams will benefit and win close games by going for it where the stats indicate a better than 50/50 chance of success than will lose games by taking that risk.
Now I'll easily concede that situational dynamics overrules everything, the point simply is that it isn't the overwhelming losing proposition some might believe it to be, and the single isn't the gimme it used to be. (NOTE: Justin Medlock does not approve this message). That's the whole point of the rule change.

Sard reacted to WBBFanWest in Depth Charts Week 1 Bombers vs Riders
Sure I could imagine it, but what's the point in that? I'd prefer to imagine a complete and total beatdown of the Riders. I want to imagine Glenn slinking off the field after his third pick 6 with a tear slowly rolling down his cheek and muttering "it's only a game... it's only a game". I want to imagine the Rider crowd booing lustily and having Jones standing at centre field shouting "BUT WERE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?" I want to imagine Rod Peterson crumpled in a corner of the Rider broadcast booth, curled up in the fetal position and sobbing. That's what I want to imagine.
And if this doesn't come to pass, then we'll deal with it later, and you know why? Because I'd like to imagine I support my team.

Doesn't look like a large margin, and you were 3rd in % of capacity...so didn't lead there
And really there is nothing else to do there or put money toward sports wise than every other city in Canada so I would hope people come out.
Christ Rider football is the only big ticket thing in the entire province so if people didn't support it they should be ashamed
