  1. The all mighty foot ball god Buono won't pick up other teams scraps.

He has a Rolodex of endless amount of super star players.....or so it is told on these boards....

I would assume he goes to Riderville

Simmons isn't "other teams scraps" he's a legitimate starting MLB. Something the Lions had until they lost Elimimian.

Are other teams scraps considered scraps if acquired by trade? Buono obtained Arland Bruce and Kevin Glenn both by trade, and Paul Maccallum by SK wanting to cut his pay by 30%.

By Rolodex, don't you really mean, The DATABASE?

  2. Not sure why Twitter is so quick to say this was terrible work by the agent. Maybe. Or maybe he just got his client a fresh start with a chance at a pay increase from the league minimum he might've been making.

I wouldn't be surprised if Winnipeg signed Simmons.

I'd be pretty sure the agent didn't make those tweets in a bubble without Simmons knowing the potential consequences. Being released I'm guessing, was an acceptable outcome to him.

  3. Simmons didn't tweet anything, his agent did... of course guys complain behind the scenes about not playing

I do see his frustration - he's bounced around and then had a breakout season, now is back as a fringe player in his peak years.

Best thing he could do right now is fire his agent though...

His agent tweeted, and not him? Lmao. That's creative!

An agent is expected to be his advocate.

  4. Are the Stampeders Organization and Simmons himself living up to the contractual obligations for each party?

Are the Stampeders Organization and Simmons himself living up to the contractual obligations for each party?

As far as I know. After this weekend & what was said on twitter, who knows? If the Stamps can't trade him they just might suspend him & send him home.
Why would a player go outside of his contract to adjust his working conditions?

It seems there has been no complaint about the Employer adhering to the contract. So I'll presume that non compliance to a contractual right is not an issue. He has no contractual beef.

Any employer has a right to expect loyalty in a public forum. Simmons Twitter posts could be characterized as insubordination, a matter of degree can be discussed, and therefore subject to sanctions.

If the Stamps want to persue the matter with a trade, it is their prerogative. If they want to suspend him, that action would become an additional dispute.

Seems Simmons has become a disruption in the workplace. How much of a disruption is up to the stampeders to tolerate.

  5. A little too exuberant last night handing it to the Lions? Especially Reinebold. Jumping up & down laughing on the sidelines. Carrying on like he won the Grey Cup. The Ti Cat players & coaches were really enjoying themselves on the sidelines. Was it a bit much? Not very classy? Okay to be that way? This is a team on a roll at home undefeated but only 2-2 on the road. Curious as to what everyone thinks.

    Have you satisfied your curiousity?

  6. The Ti-Cats have worked hard to get where they are. Let them enjoy the good times while they can. Players coaches don't just work for the money. The whole show could fall apart with a bad hit or string of injuries. Let them have a good time. That's what I'd want for our guys. The celebrations are deserved.

  7. I dont know whether to be impressed with Marve. Seems like he won some kind of award in high school called the "Mr Football Award". Other winners have been Daunte Culpepper, Adrian Macpherson, and Tim Tebow. Played for the Hurricanes, transfered schools to Purdue. Was eligible for 6 seasons in the NCAA. He has not played in the NFL. His pa was a linebacker in the NFL.

He has had three torn ACL injuries in his career.

  8. Lets look at Marcel's historical schemes and see where they ranked in the years he was an OC.

    Sacks

His first 3 years as an OC in Saskatchewan (2003 - 2005) - His offence was the 2nd, 3rd, and 1st best at giving up the least amount of sacks (27,28,23)

2007 Montreal - Ranked last in the league (8th) with 68 sacks

2008 Hamilton - Ranked last in the league (8th) with 67 sacks

2014 Winnipeg - Ranked last in the league (9th) with 71 sacks

    Passing

His first 3 years as an OC in Saskatchewan (2003 - 2005) - He was consistently in the bottom half of the league in passing (7th, 6th, and 8th with 4054, 4619, and 4229 yards)

2007 Montreal - Even with Calvillo he ranked 4th in the league in passing with 5044 yards

2008 Hamilton - Ranked last in the league (8th) with 4474 yards

2014 Winnipeg - Ranked 5th in the league with 4374 yards

    Rushing

His first 3 years as an OC in Saskatchewan (2003 - 2005) - He was tops in the league in rushing each of those 3 years (2605, 2504, and 2436 yards)

2007 Montreal - Ranked 6th in the league with 1791 yards

2008 Hamilton - Ranked 1st in the league with 2532 yards

2014 Winnipeg - Ranked 8th in the league with 1513 yards

    Points Scored

His first 3 years as an OC in Saskatchewan (2003 - 2005) - He was in the bottom half of the league in points scored all 3 years (4th, 4th, and 8th for 470, 444, and 379 points)

2007 Montreal - Ranked 7th in the league with 362 points

2008 Hamilton - Ranked 6th in the league with 408 points

2014 Winnipeg - Ranked 6th in the league with 397 points

    Summary

Other then his first 3 years in the league 10 - 15 years ago, his offence has consistently given up the most sacks in the league.

His passing offence has at best ranked in the middle of the league but that was with Calvillo at the helm, every other year has been pretty much bottom 3rd (or bottom half with Willy).

He has ranked 1st in rushing every year except with Montreal and Winnipeg

In points scored, his best seasons were 15 years ago when he was ranked about middle of the pack.  Every other year has been middle of the pack to bottom half of the league

So in conclusion, Marcel is at best an average / middle of the pack OC whose offence seems to have more success with the run (except in Winnipeg).  His best passing years passing have been with Calvillo (4th best) and Willy (5th best)

Can't wait to see what Willy can do with a new offensive coordinator....

Very compelling evidence to sack MB.

  9. Anyone who thinks Willy isn't the best thing this team has going for it simply doesn't understand how football works. I don't care who your qbs is when you have that many break downs in protection no qb is going to do any better. Willy is passing the ball like a beast when he has time to actually set his feet. Reading the D well, making good accurate throws and doing everything you need a qb to do. Then there's times when the OL is not just getting beat but not even slowing anyone down and it all falls apart because he's got the DL in his face instantly.

Willy gives us a chance to win every game if healthy. Hes not perfect but certainly someone to build aroind. Certain posters have an agenda and wont acknowledge any info to the contrary.

We don't need no stinkin agenda's.

  10. We beat teams that we should be beating. We've only lost to teams that currently have winning records.

Friday night, this week, we should have an entertaining battle at IGF. You won't see it, but Miiler is a scary effen guy when angry. Kind of lighting a fire to resolve the deficiencies.

If Toronto gives away the game with penalties and we don't go there, essentially like a clean game today, we have a very good chance of a home win.

All bets are off though if Willy and Darvin Adams are not playing.

Exactly we are 0-3 against the best two teams in the league only have to face Edmonton once more at home. 3-1 against the rest of the league.

If we can win 7 or 8 games in the next eleven, we should make the playoffs. I doubt that a 9 and 9 season even with crossover potential gets us there with three teams in the east already with 4 wins. Gonna have to start counting the free squares on the bingo cards to see what our chances are for the post season.

Sweeping the Riders is becoming critical.

Jeez, nothing like even more pressure going into the rubber match in September.

  12. Who is this supposed guru of an o line coach that we have. He's been here for a year and a half and with supposed better talent and his o line is no better than last year. With a pocket passer and slow reaction passer like Willy you've got to hold your block a second or two longer. These guys not only can not block but in todays game i've never witnessed so many missed blocks especially from the interior linemen.

Bellefeuille and to a lesser extent Willy holding onto the ball too long are the problems with protection. The actual OL isn't the primary problem.

Flat out wrong. Willy had guys in his face when he got the snap on numerous occasions. About the only sack he took where he held the ball for even a remotely longer than he should have was a 2nd and 20 when he needed extra time to let the guys downfield get open. The OL is the entire problem with the offense. It is abysmal and was even bad by the low standard they've set for themselves tonight. They looked like they were running different plays than the guy next to them far too often.

Sorry man. You're wrong. Bellefeuille, Willy, then the actual OL (in that order) are the problems with the OL.

Dunno guys. Can't say the offence lost this game. They didn't score near enough obviously but special teams are the ones that crapped the bed. That's what needs to get fixed before Friday.
