Nichols did a great job last year not turning the ball over and playing within himself. No question about it. But Matt has had his troubles with untimely INT's in his career, in fact that's what made him expendable in Edmonton. I like where the Bombers are at and am happy for you guys, but to say Nichols is night and day better that Glenn is simply not true and the numbers show it. if the 2016 Nichols shows up you will have a good season

You are trying to appear balanced yet the context is peppered with fear of Bomber success. You want to hang Nichols with past performance issues. He has overcome the issues and learned how to be successful. He wins more than than Glenn. Glenn can't get better and is in decline.

I can see it in your eyes, you are nervous. Very, very nervous.

Couldn't decide what forum to put this in, because he covers a lot of bases, but wow.....Gary Lawless leaving to take an content-producer ( the same job Tait's doing for Bombers), with the Vegas Golden Knights....

Along with "huge loss" by atomic, sweep the leg "big loss", Floyds "expansion draft", rebusrankin "this is huge", I'd like to add, that Lawless leaving is a big deal and leaves a huge hole in our local sports commentary. On the other hand with Lawless casting his shadow n the Vegas sun, maybe we get to see Sarah Orlesky step into those big shoes as a backup. She's not entirely happy living in his shadow, so to speak.

  3. Welcome to the 2017 Winnipeg Blue Bomber season activities. Fans, it was wicked cold out there so didn't spend more time than a cup of coffee. I primarily watched the receivers and qb's.

I counted 11 receivers out there and three rb's. The rb's had no reason to stand out, but were engaged and gave remarkable efforts.

#5 Stanford first in line for the receiver drills. Enthusiastic efforts. Chatting up other players. Looks like he wants to be a leader on this team.

#80 Chisum. He might be 6'3" but he ain't no 200 pounds. He's frail.

#89 Davis. Now he can handle some physical activity. Big and showed some good vertical skills going up for passes.

#84 Langford. Good hands at top speed and could turn on the jets further after the catch.

#82 Duncan. Noticeable by his resemblance to Rapunsel. Quick, agile, and a small 5'10.

The recivers were having a very tough time running 25 yard routes headed north into the wind. #13 Lafevour threw some really nice balls into the wind. #18 Miles was serviceable. Hearded south, Nichols and Davis both looked like pro's, with the wind.

During the route running/passing drills, these guys didn't just walk onto the field and take direction. They were lining up, in position, and executing as a receiving group. They looked prepared and the readiness impressed me the most.

  4. Can't say the music is too loud cause I haven't noticed.

i do enjoy the drum line. The Catfish Brass Band is a real hoot. Exceptional addition in my opinion. Fighter Jets CF whatever's are very cool. Cheap(ish) beer in the tailgate area is appreciated. Extra garlic on the garlic fries are great and very Ukrainian.

Giant Canadian flags during the anthem makes my heart swell. A super size Canadian flag flying during the game would be just so cool, unique and remarkable. Like that effen huge flag that can be seen from anywhere in Cancun, that big yup. Even if the supersize flag was for a couple of games, it would bring tears of pride to my heart. Rent a crane, as a flag pole.

Godzilla size blow up Beavers like at the Vancouver Olympics. Very neat. Do we have a Godzilla size blow up helmet, or player?

The dunk tank for rider fans is an inspiration. So something similar to what I saw in Iran. Burning a Rider player in effigy. That ought to spark the rivalry!

How about more women at the game, skinny, large mammalian protuberances, and must be a bomber fan.

  5. So Shawn Lemon stills hates Regina and the divorce from that hole sits fine with him. Is happy in T.O. Because he can get good grub  after a practice everyday.

    http://news.nationalpost.com/sports/cfl/the-twitter-instigator-opposing-linemen-and-fans-cant-hide-from-shawn-lemon-on-social-media

if the players hate Regina, and Bomber fans hate Regina, and 7 other CFL teams hate Sk, maybe there IS something to the assertion it's as bad as everyone says it is......I still love the one about the girl telling the guy to kiss her where it stinks so he takes her to Regina...

  6. Sounds to me like you want to call a Practice Roster a Developmental Squad. Since the clubs don't practice after seasons end the Practice Players are let go. In my opinion, if the Practice Roster were to be Developmental exercise, they would have put rules in place to accommodate the the lengthier relationship. Possibly the clubs do not want the responsibility to hang onto players for the extra number of months. Adding extra months requires extra consideration like compensation, pay.

  7. The NI rule is a real thought provoking topic.

Each Canadian players story does provide local interest somewhere in this country. "My son played against Harris...", "I've played golf with his dad...", or running into Walby at the liquor store. You can't buy those kinds of ties that create loyalty to a player. Unique and personal anecdotes that creates value for its fans. Story's like that are created because these cities provide a lifetime of reverance for the players that want to stay part of the community and marry our sisters, have children that compete with our kids and grand kids. Our flag is beautiful!

    Someone have a serviette?

Wasn't the Canadian content rule put in place because the Bombers were the dominant force during the Ploen/Grant era using American players? Our Bomber squad was so good, they changed the rules.

I wonder if the Bombers will bring Michael Ritchott in training camp this year. He's the Winnipeg Rifles RB, who people says plays and run like Andrew Harris. He will come as a territorial exempt and a non-counter for sure.

If this kid doesn't have a nickname already, his surname is one half of what could be a fun handle.

    There goes "Rocket " Richott.

"Ramblin" Richott rides his way to another TD.

"Razor" Richott slices through the D-Line.

Michael Richott "The Rifle" blasts his way to ANOTHER Winnipeg Blue Bomber FIRST DOWN.

It's hilarious that you Bombers fans bash Jones because he doesn't have a QB plan. Last year you guys had Drew Willy. And then mid season Nichols came and boom your team became good again. You literally were in just as bad of a spot and you made it better.

All the Riders need is POTENTIALLY one trade and they could do the same thing the Bombers did. That's why the CFL is so great.

Jones is the hilarious one. No Qb. None.

Nichols was already here last year when Willy was compelled to watch.

And your ace up your self is that you are POTENTIALLY one TRADE away from having a qb. That's like saying SK fans are one birth away from not having your sister as the mother of your child. The point is, the trade for a true starter will never happen.

    So to get this straight.

Roughies plan is to dismantle the core that was was previously built and rebuild it through FA and players that were released?

Yes. Because you can't have old staff hanging around holding you back from all the great things you'll accomplish with new staff you brought on. New is good. Old is bad. Hell, they'll sell the the toilet seat semi dome out for a couple years so revenue won't be an issue while they continue to suck.

  11. Asking for input on a feature of this site is a good thing. Thanks.

I have used the chat room. Had fun enjoying the game with other fans. Certainly the chat room might not be used much other than for away games. If you'd like to not replace it, I wouldnt be upset but would accept your decision. If you think replacing it provides value, that would be fine.

Due to how frequently players change teams in the CFL, I have two rules whenever I have a name stitched on the back of my jersey:

    1. Player has to be retired
    2. Player must've won at least one Grey Cup for the Bombers.

As a younger fan, it forces me to do some research into some of the older players that I didn't know about because I wasn't around when they played. Suggestions that satisfy this criteria: Kenny Ploen, Greg Battle, Leo Lewis etc.

Doing so means I'll never be stuck  in the awkward position of having the jersey of a player that went south (Chris Matthews) or signed elsewhere (Odell Willis). It also gives me a chance to learn more about the Bombers.

    Just my two cents.

I like your criteria for having a name that ensures relevance for a very long time. A player that has been inducted into the Hall of Fame would satisfy my requirement for a named jersey.

Jones the "recruiting genius" with his head buried deep in the Bombers garbage pail.

And with CJ auditioning 3000 players in the off season, the best he can do is to grab Bennett. Are McManus and Walters that good at finding talent? Must be.

  14. Is there a prize to pick the amount of money he is signed for? We know what he might like for salary. We know any club works with the budget for the team, and a salary band for the position. Our guy Matt will not be the highest paid starting QB, he won't be the lowest either, but if the parties want a deal, they'll get it.
