  1. Why does it make you sick to your stomach - why does anyone deserve to be elevated over anyone else?

This morning when I came into work there was a homeless guy sleeping in front of the front door of our office building. When someone woke him up he pissed and **** himself simultaneously, then walked away. If he refuses to elevate himself by trying to use the myriad social programs available in this country to get help, are you saying that everyone should just sleep in front of buildings and piss and **** themselves, because no one deserves to be elevated above him? That's what you are saying?

That's a poor example to highlight in your argument without knowing what the cause of his homelessness is.  Very high probability that he has base mental health issues that are not being treated by our current health system and he is left to fend for himself.  Withn MB. I know of mental health facilities that have been shut down in both Portage and Selkirk as cost savings without reasonable support being provided to the evictees.

If grandpa loses his mind the immediate family can usually step up to ensure his well being but there are a lot of people in this world that don't have that family support to begin with.  Don't know anyone that could have ended up homeless???  Just dig into your family tree, you won't have to dig very deep..

selkirk and portage getting closed without reasonable support being provided to evicted patients would never happen in Manitoba. No way. Impossible. It never happened here. The NDP built their following back from Tommy Douglas days on a health care platform. I call BS.

The NDP has now called the evicted "Being served from the community". Which is another way of saying, "I don't give two hoots about grandpa" and the homecare workers refuse to help grandpa because he called one a *****. 70 grand a year and doesnt have to empty a colostomy bag of a wheelchair bound weakling diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and delirium. That's socialists systemic elder abuse. Rather than Norway let's look at the socialists performance right here.

  2. What stagnation?

    2014 growth rates:

Turkmenistan 11.1% (Wouldn't want to live there)

Poland 3.2% ( Canada has more Poland nationals immigrating here than Canadians going to Poland)

Canada 2.3%. ( lots of resources including the best hockey players in the world)

Albania 2.1% population 4 million - corrupt as hell. Oh, is hell on earth.

Norway 1.6% population 5 million - will be one of the first Nordic countries to be overtaken by Putin.

Russia .5% tons of resources. Proof socialism fails. Proves Putin is an A hole.

  3. When did Norway replace Albania as the socialists model country?

When people were looking for a country with a similar population and oil reserves to Alberta to talk trash about Albertans.

Why would they need to feel they need to trash talk Albertans. Oh, envy. Got it.

Maybe it has to do with Albania being one of the most corrupt countries. Can't get anything done there because there is that crooked underground economy. But there's tons of oil in Albania also. How's that working out for them? Ironically, the socialists would have turned Canada into an Albania, and the most important city in Albania is, Terana. See what I did there. Terana, Albania, Terana Canada as pronounced in Toronto. Try and buy a legal anything there without waiting. "No bread today". Not even a "sorry".

  4. Hopefully the NDP win federally. This country needs a shakup. We've been stagnating for the past 20 years.

What the hell does that even mean?  Canada has been leading the world in economic growth consistently and are one of the best countries in the world to live in.  If that's stagnation I'll take it.  Go travel the world a bit and come back, and you'll appreciate what we have a lot more.  Have a look at those idiots in the EU, trying to prop up those lazy commies in Greece.  Now THAT"s stagnation.

Perhaps be a tad less patronizing? You don't know what I've done or experienced.

The economy isn't the be all and end all (and we're nothing special in that regard) - we're stagnating in social progress, environmental progress and healthcare among other things. I didn't say Canada is a bad country to live in.

Raginice, your the one that that brought up the economy. What I have said is who I would vote for. Does that bother you that it's not the NDP? Does it bother you that I'm doing better under this government than any other?

You are welcome to join any organization you want, have them tell you how to vote. I'm voting with my conscience.

No, actually KBF is the one that brought up the economy. I don't care who you vote for or how successful you are.

And actually, there will be others that vote like me. And actually, there are others that are better off now than before.

  5. This is a funny thread because so far no one has actually provided any real, sourced facts. RagingIce came the closest but far too outdated for my liking. KBF is.... passionate, but no real, sourced facts yet. Lots of pretty words from TUP but no actual facts.

Where's the stats and facts? Come on guys I want some real info! Let's get serious here.

If you're looking for concrete sourced material on which to base your decision on whom to vote for I hope you don't rely on a sports fan forum! :)

I don't know anything about politics.

I'm thinking about running for MP in the next election.

Mr. Atomic, you might learn something from it. I once ran for the Birthday Party, in the Horseyback Riding. Came in 2nd. Was a field of two. Very educational.

  6. I know people love to debate this stuff and there is nothing wrong with this thread and doing that.

But let's be honest. No one is changing the mind or political alignment of someone else on a message board.

Regardless of what facts or lack there of are presented.

The KBF's and RagingIce's of the world have already made up their minds, but the undecided out there might still learn stuff.

No offence to the posters here but I would hope this wasn't the main source of research for the undecided.

And if it was my main source of research, then could I be offended?

  8. Raging ice. Do you have an idea why it's refered to as a balanced budget? Do you realize when you tax people, like Paul Martin did, your going to keep raking in the money. A balanced budget is not economic activity.

Referring to intellectual honesty, do you know what that means? in fact you are the phrase in an incorrect context. The author and your interpretation is dishonest.

The guys a hack. He has an axe to grind. He works for a union. Get it?

Actually, you are the one using the term economics and confused it with budgets.

I know I'm doing better under the current federal government. That is the weight that I measure. And that is what matters to this citizen.

No leftie gets my vote. And I'm proud of that.

  9. BLOG: Training Camp

    By Darren Cameron

We are now in day 16 of camp, and some may consider it the 'dog days' of the three-week, on-field sessions in preparation for the season. While that may be accurate, it sure is an exciting time. This time of year is always filled with optimism, but this year just seems different. Am I declaring a first place finish? Absolutely not. But the level of competition, not only in the eyes of the coaches, but perspective of the players themselves, is significant. One player told me yesterday, "This already feels like a team." Coach O'Shea is a big believer in that team atmosphere, more so than any other Head Coach I have been around.

    INJURIES

There has been much talk about how many injuries we have already had throughout camp. It's interesting to read the reports and listen to the chatter about it, because the truth is we have had less injuries this year than last.

And as of now (knock on wood) we only have one player who would be deemed longer term. The battles these players go through during a training camp is strenuous and repetitive, and unfortunately, injuries are part of the equation. Let's hope we can make it through these last few days unscathed.

    CUT DOWN

This morning was one of those mornings management very much dislike; the day where they have to inform a certain number of players that their goal of being a

Blue Bomber is over. Coach O'Shea, Kyle Walters and Director of Football

Operations, David Siddall, set up in a meeting room in the University dorm area where the players stay during camp. Each guy is brought in individually, is told of the decision by Coach O'Shea, has a brief conversation with Kyle, and then moves on to David to discuss travel logistics for that day. Although it takes hours to pour through film and make these decisions, relaying the information takes no longer than five minutes per player. "No other way to put it, it's one of the only bad things about this job," Coach O'Shea told me shortly after the process was completed this morning. "It’s not easy telling a guy he isn't good enough, or doesn't fit in. But you give it to him straight, that's all a man can ask for, is the truth.".

I found it insightful in that they whack guys the same way everyone else whacks employees.

    Good blog.

  10.

Can someone talk about their favourite old-timey wrestler now?

    rock-n-roll.jpg
OMG, is that geezer Strike Force?

And can someone photoshop those eyes so they point in the same general direction?

I'm literally giggling to myself in my office about this.

me too. but cant stop laughing.

The eyes! How can someone be looking 90 degrees to the right, and left, at the exact same time?!

Seriously, once you see this, it hypnotizes you!

    I cannot look away.

  11. I loved this part:

“But I don’t know the players” you say. Yeah? You know Michael Sam! You remember Chad Johnson/Ochocinco! Also, don’t pretend you know all the players in American football. Name me a defender on the Tennessee Titans. See?

I sat there for about a minute trying to think of a Titans player... The only one to come to mind was Cortland Finnegan... who hasn't played there in 4 or 5 years... clearly I'm not in mid-season form...

My guesses are Smith and Johnson.  Every team has at least one player with either last name.

Yup. Johnson did play for the Titans. What about Williams? Could be a last or first name.

  12. Two separate factions in camp eh?  I don't like to hear that.

KBF. I never thought of it as problematic. But maybe your onto something. Wish someone would ask the coaches about that. Ah, they'll just gloss over, say everything is fine. Say its normal. Say this is what teams do. You know. Same malarkey. Keeping the fans in the dark. But it seemed somehow ok today that the numbered guys did all the running around, and the guys without numbers just watched and bitched. I'm sure, MOS will get this all straightened out in the locker room. That's what he's good at.

  13. :) Coorsman says to let you know this #89 has a real shot to make the team..... ;)

(Such a pro...fluid running, great hands...)

I'd say #89 is a lock. Someone pointed out that #5 has been getting a real look from the coaches as well. We'll keep an eye on 'em both this season. A guy can learn so much and real sense of the up and comers from watching TC.

The battle at the center position has been intriguing as well.

If I may add, #70, #46 and #1 are locks too. I think in just 6 days of TC they already have done well and prove they can play in the CFL and worthy of spots in the 44. ;)

Yeah, there is lots of numbers out there. I notice some guys have them and some don't. The guys with numbers seem to work harder though. Some yelling to. It gets loud. I've never seen such a keen sense of team prior to this year. MOS even has the vets keyed up. From what I could tell it seems that there are two factions amongst the players on this years edition. Some of the players got together and are wearing blue and the other guys, seems about half of them, are wearing white. Considering that it's entirely possible that the players thought this scheme up themselves, MOS just might have to sit back and enjoy the show without having to break a sweat. THATS leadership bringing out the initiative. Should this trend of comraderie continue, MOS could be in the top 10 for the coach of the year awards. Yeah, it's early. But if MOS gets tangled up in the snarl on Pembina south of Chancellor Matheson, he shouldn't have to worry about the players missing practice reps without him.

  15. I want to know what's wrong with our injured players. I hate the way O'Shea handles the media. I consider it lying by omission, which forces fans to make up their own injuries. Most of the time they are worse than the truth.

    Flame away folks.

I won't flame you, I'll just ask why you care so much. Their ailments are none of your business and a lot of the teams have adopted a "say nothing" approach because some injuries (or reasons they have to sit out) are personal and when they reveal details of some, but not others, it's easy to cherry pick who might have hemorrhoids or a herpes outbreak instead of just an ankle sprain.

But seriously - who the hell cares what a guy has that is bothering him.

I'm pretty sure Fred Stamps would agree with the injury privacy policy.
