I remember an interview OSH gave with the media after LaPolice was re-hired in 2016. It was noted that he had two former head coaches on his staff now, and didn’t that cause him some concern for his job (especially after the bad 2015 season and more than a few fans calling for his head) that there were two ready replacements to step in easily and take over, as opposed to hiring underlings at co-ordinaries who weren’t a threat to his job security? His comment essentially was that it was the opposite - he wanted the best minds possible and the most experience possible, and the best thing for his job security was to surround himself with the smartest and most competent people around to help him so that the team could be the best it could be, rather than sabotage the team success by hiring lesser people out of some misguided need to protect himself. THAT, he said, was the quickest way to find himself in the unemployment line. He wanted the best collection of ideas working with him and challenging him to being the best product out on the field, and it would be silly to be intimidated by it and try to silence that input and ignore that creativity in the hopes that it would give him a safety net for his job.

I rememebr reading that too... after reading that I was all:

Please show me the stat lines where Zac turned the ball over 9 times, or passed for 3 yards in the first half of a playoff game? If you are talking about the regular season then don't use playoffs as your metric. Zac hasn't put up hall of fame numbers in the playoffs but he hasn't really played badly either until this year's Grey Cup, and that really wasn't terrible either. He was asked to game manage and he did. It was actually when he tried to open it up that it cost us. Bottom line is Zac was the best QB in the CFL last year. The numbers prove it. If you want to move the goal posts to the playoffs to determine who was the best QB last year.....still Zac....and yes, I firmly and strongly believe he is the least likely to regress next year out of the top 3. Kelly looks to be mentally fragile, I think the book is out on him now and Vernon Adams has been wildly inconsistent his entire career and I don't see that changing. What has Zac done? Nothing but win 2xMOP and then be the league's top QB for a third year in a row. That' s consistency I am willing to bank on. You talk like 36 is ancient for a QB, and it's not. Other football positions sure...but not QB.

Cofaj was better than Zach when it mattered.

If Brown gets an offer of $300k, he's gone.  Zach is the face of the franchise, none of O'Shea, Miller or Walters is going to think it's time to move on, they may consider it after 2025, but not before.

And this is why I am very concerned with the 2025 GC...

I saw some very big backwards steps from collaros this season and he's at an age where that is concerning. Then you consider his salary and the impact that has had on the teams depth....

It's a conversation I don't expect the team to have but feel they should.

What happens if we lose brown and collaros regressed more?

    We roll with poopcup?

I deleted Twitter. I don't think I'll go back to be honest. I don't need to spend copious amounts of time arguing with idiots and bots. It is such a cesspool of things that aren't real. As much as people find it useful, I think in general it's making everyone's life much worse and they don't realize it.

    I find twitter pretty useful...

    I don’t post.

    I don’t comment

    I don't read the comments.

    I don’t read the responses.

I feel thatvis the best way to experience twitter.

Hoping for a "I'd like to stay in TO" contract for Oakman as he has demonstrated that he still has a gear he can shift into where he can take over a game... but if not, then I am comfortable with his big-name being available as a decoy so we can re-sign the guy on our D-Line who gets no hype or press whatsoever but was very quietly one of the 10 best D-Linemen in the league.

    Hendrix?

@bluto He's a gooder- I would have him over Oakman.

We had a great year...just came up an inch short.

    Toronto had a great year.

Interesting how that inch defines who's name gets etch on the Cup and thus be immortalized.

You have to be concerned though... familiar lead up to an epic finish yet two GCs loss in very similar fashion- a pattern is emerging.

the edge the 2019 iteration of this team had- has dulled, blunted if you will.  Can that be restored through FA, draft picks and roster management, possibly- but there is something that is still missing.
