Wheatfall absolutely won a spot in the starting lineup in preseason. If he can take a step that's huge for the offense.

I am cautiously optomistic.

Well for me the issues is that Kornelson is your depth... now maybe the guy is some hidden gem, but I doubt it, and I doubt he was the absolute beat option for that spot. An injury happens and he is it for depth on the DL and that's a concern.

I’ll add Streveler to that list. It’s kind of funny no one is really talking much about how Strev will look tonight. He’s our backup QB, coming off a major injury. I feel good about him and it seems most do, but it’s odd nonetheless.

Dressing 4 DT's says that? When half the defensive snaps we'll probably only have 1 on the field? I think they are kind of thin on the edge but it's also been a conscious decision of the DC to change their approach to pressure. I don't agree with it, but they have built for it. More basketball style defense from the first 2 levels of the D, which can be disruptive but often isn't consistent.

To be positive, looking forward to seeing if Wheatfall takes another step this season, how Vanterpool and Randolph look on the oline, if Wallace can get some run on the oline and how Smith and Shay progress.

To an extent that is a problem yes. I'd love to see AR expansion. But not to the degree we have it. Yeah probably. I think it's gonna be a tough close game. They have, but even by those standards, our pass rush was bad last year.

The CFL as a whole really de-emphasized the pass rush in 2024. Bombers rushed three on a ton of downs last year. Maybe a reason why the DL looks thin?

Vaughters was picked up as a cut prior to free agency. Logan is hurt.

8 rookies by my count. Plus guys like Wheatfall, Bridges, Vanterpool and Randolph stepping in as starters. I think in some ways people's biases toward what they think the biases of O'Shea are is colouring their view. But for sure there's some guys on there vet for the sake of a vet because the DC trusts them. Bryant and Neufeld scare the hell out of me. They've been have trouble putting together more than 8-10 solid games a season the past couple years. But they are building a team. Not just slapping together the most impressive looking athletes and sending them onto the field. This team has had a lot of changeover in the past couple seasons. I'd argue they probably could have kept Lawler and Wolitarsky, and maybe that's what you're alluding to with the discussion about $$$.

I actually agree with this. I also think we all are smart enough bomber fans to realize O’Shea has his favourites and unfortunately some are still here, they even signed guys to new deals. They didn’t have to but they did. Wilson Jake etc were always gonna be game 1 players on an O’Shea coached team. 9 linebackers it’s actually 10 with Ayers dressed is wild stuff. No backup ends or anything. Willy and vaughters gonna play all game. It’s probably gonna be an issue. I don’t get the defensive choices myself unless the plan is like 3 DL or 2 DL or whatever at times and just make rourke have to read a D I guess. I dunno. It’s odd.

It’s really not even that bad, so I don’t get why people are whining about the criticism. Sterns/Mitchell/White is likely just preference. Corcoran being the backup receiver, who cares? That’s the nature of the CFL. Nobody would care about that if he was American. The defensive choices are what confuse me and always will. I don’t see a world where Jordan Younger loves the defensive lineup and wouldn’t change anything about it - he stresses versatility and we hardly have any on the DL.

It is what it is. I think ppl should have expected it honestly tho. I mean O’Shea makes the final call.

Wild says every cfl team who played last week except bc but I don’t think we leave after half time tonight BC sucks. BC sucks. Will be interesting to see if any shenanigans occur tonight between buck and osh. That would be fun. Be interesting to see how some of the washed vets do. Could be their last games some of them.

Hopefully big improvement there this year with Shay and Smith. Kelly and Makonzo once they are healthy too
