  5. The idea would be to have more summer dates which already do successfully recruit more fans.

  7. For the most part big changes like this would usually be investigated by using them in preseason or taking ideas from other leagues/lower levels that are proven to some extent. MLB rule changes spent years being refined in minor league baseball. Think the NFL kickoff rules that were basically lifted from the XFL/UFL. Stew Johnston is basically Frankenstein in this scenario. They gave data on what they think will happen to scoring as a result based on absolutely nothing. They have no idea what the fan tolerance will be. And the fans have no idea what it will even really look like until the games start.
  8. We're the fans the CFL already has & will never lose. They need the 18-35 demographic. Maybe they'll get it.
  9. What kind of evidence for whether the thing they haven’t done yet working or not are you looking for? Scientific double blind study?

  11. When was the last time you saw major changes changed back? The US expansion when all but 1 team bascally folded and the other got an NFL team? That's not the same thing at all.

  13. They have to do both. Something quick to get more revenue hopefully....and copy the bombers approach. Fun fact....Bombers hosted the 2nd coaching clinic in as many months for free. First was flag football. Today's was tackle. Head coach of the University of Guelph was here along with u of m coaches. All hosting sessions that went over various aspects of the game and best approaches to coaching. It included 2 meals. Met Coach Hull when I got lost in the basement if the Pas looking for the bathroom. Nice guy.
  14. Winnipeg, and to an extent Saskatchewan, are good working models on how to engage and retain CFL fans.
  15. Oh I understand how the rules changes might attract new fans. I was saying what's the evidence that an early season start and new playoff format will attract new fans?

  17. Or you know... build that grass roots base. Make the games an event worth going to... but that kind of thing is hard and takes time. Easier to throw **** at the wall and hope it sticks.
  18. Wonder where she'll end up?
  19. Moose win game 1 anyone know if they still have free live feeds?
  20. This is the key. Nobody on this board is the target demo because they've already got us for life (bastards...) But how do you get more of the passive fans on board? The guys who kinda watch CFL but mostly watch NFL...? Try some weird **** and see how it goes.
  21. the idea would be higher scoring, more dynamic offensive based games at a faster pace. No actual proof, other than how it’s worked for mlb, and that what the league has done over the past two-three decades has only eroded the success and fan base league wide. I’m trying to look at it from a none hard core fan perspective and wondering if the potential is there.
  22. What's the evidence that these changes will attract new fans? Younger fans?
  23. There’s about the same chance of a MLB franchise being awarded to Steinbach. Government won’t support building MLS stadium and is pinching corners on building hospitals. Who is coming up with $2 billion to build a MLB park and about the same for a franchise?
  24. BUF/VGK on to round 2. TPA/MTL heading to game 7.
  25. Can't see MLB affecting gate other than in toronto and even then its a big whip as ..well its toronto And again its no real different with the seasons coinciding anyway and with only one city having a team who cares really And like said any change can always go back to what it was if its a major flop or causes major backlash...league is trying to find and be accessible to newer fans and demographics so what is old and accustomed to by lifelong fans is irrelevant to anyone new...or newish. If old school fans sqwuak and whine and revolt..screw em...obviously not that big of fans then. Times are a changing and you either change with it..or try to evolve to it in some regard or you whither away and die
  26. How long bad changes will remain would depend on the ego of the commissioner
  27. The night mare, regarding the early start changes for gm's, are going to be the undoing of some of the changes..The cfl/nfl draft days not jiving are a big problem and can see teams rebelling when draft pics are left in limbo ....As was mentioned, going up against nhl/mlb franchises are not going to give us the gate success we're hoping for or the type of notoriety we need....I see these changes being reviewed very quickly by the league after their inception......
  28. agree 100%. the league needs to be ready to adjust fast out of these changes and pivot. I very much worry that they won’t, but if they do maybe they can make some thing positive out of all this.
  29. What I keep coming back to is "they try them out and see how it goes... But I can also see a day where it doesn't work, and Johnson is still fighting for him, even though it's clearly not working (or made it worse), then they toss him, hire someone else, and go back to how it was." Nothing here is irreparable... They can always go back to be the old ways down the road.
  30. Yeah that sucks. Good thing we still have Jenkins and Dixon from last year. And in general the competition looks pretty good along the d line. Unrelated. It looks like we have all of our draft picks signed outside of Nuer (minicamp May 8-10) and Cline.
  31. wr/kr jayden harrison is a big upside kr prospect. Oj arnold is a good quick one cut back. Sucks jaworski retired
  32. I was thinking about how mlb had rocketed up the viewer rankings and dropped their main demographic by about 15 years with the changes in recent years. Do any of the new CFL changes have that kind of chance? I’m not a fan of most of the changes. Couple good ones here and there. I was only in favor of maybe half of the mlb changes but they have worked out better than any one would’ve believed. Maybe if they accomplished the goal and have less fgs more going for it on 3rd down and scoring more tds, it could have the same kind of impact. I really struggle to see most of these changes panning out. But it would be great to be wrong and see the cfl do a fraction of the job mlb has done.
