I think last year we started off with our DBs looking lost,it's a complicated system and we moved alot of parts,i believe JY will have it sorted out ASAP.😊

We don't have a ton of insight on how the game roster comes together, but my gut says: a) Younger has fallen in love with too many role players. Most of whom have the wrong passport. We shouldn't need more than one of Wilson/Jones/Ayers really with the D we play. Two is already pushing it. Griffin is basically an every down guy now. Jones and Wilson almost never play 2nd and 5 together. Woodbey/Griffin we shouldn't need more than one. Woodbey/Ayers, shouldn't need more than one. Those Canadians need to become our role players. Smith, Shay, Stuart. b) Miller/O'Shea are in love with the same guys for their utility on special teams. Based on how we used guys last night we basically have Vaval, Ayers and Castillo as Americans who only play special teams. When we needed an extra guy on D, ******* Jake Kelly was the guy, not Vaval. If we sort out the guys in part A, we could dress a guy like Singer who maybe takes on kickoff returns and gives us cover for Vaval, plus some utility on O. Then we can use Vaval on D....because he's a guy who is also poised to breakout and is a playmaker in general. Getting him some D reps would be a major positive because we don't have a lot of DB's making plays on the ball. We have a lot of DB's making tackles. There's an opportunity cost to all these decisions. And as we saw, our D ******* blew for 2.75 quarters of that game anyways. For special teams, Brody Clark already looks like a ******* beast. First guy down there most kicks for us last night, think he had 2 tackles. You got Clark, Kelly, Shay, Smith, Hallett, Corcoran/Cobb, Chris-Ike, Cadwallader who are primarily cover guys. That should be more than enough combined with the starters. Ultimately, going into next week, seeing how that game played out. I'd turn Woodbey into Reese. Gatkuoth barely played, only came in when Ceresna pulled himself on the last drive and a few other reps sprinkled in. He's not a guy who is going to give us a lot of burst out there anytime soon. He needs some time. Hamilton doesn't run much. Against a different team I might consider Fletcher, but against Hamilton we need guys who can fly off the line in pass reps. DL of Ceresna, Lawson, Jefferson, Jenkins, Dixon, Reese, Gatkuoth is pretty solid IMO, especially for pass rush. Get Jenkins and Reese used to some 3 tec reps too. I'd sit Ayers for Singer. Give us some more options on O and in return game to make Vaval somewhat of a player on D too. Longer term if we really want some big bodies it would be nice to see a real TE style receiver on the team. Tons of American guys who are solid receivers at 230-260 lbs and can block a little bit too. Daniels is basically a 7th OL IMO. Very few routes he's going to win in this league.

Jefferson and Jake C....did what we should have done in 25'....put pressure on their over hyped qb Vaval .....a few more games like he had last night and I'll finally get over missing Grant Castillo.....mr. money ...A lot of pressure on that final kick and he came through''' ....Condell for mapping out some sound strategy....

Great game from a spectators point of view...I loved the back and forth and liked it even more when the final score said we got the 2 pts...I knew we had to go with Brady A LOT and was proved right...The passing game was lacking....couple of nice completions but we have to be better in that department...I was wondering half way through the game where the hell our pressure on VAJ was going to appear AND then it did...Kudos to Jefferson and Ceresna who put some fright into the stumps qb and lit him up a few times...We need to do a lot more of that....DBS looked lost at times....weak part of our game and needs some work...Always nice to win the opener and set the pace for the year....Bring on the T-Cats

yeaH ZC earned his salary that last drive. He made the huge pass he needed to early and was calm and composed about *** and didnt force/rush anything...then allowed us to use BO and basically run the clock out knowing we had mr clutch to kick the winner. I truly was expecting a forced ball into double or triple coverage for the nut kicking INT but he made a vintage ZC play...hopefully a sign of more to come and he looked way more settled and in tune with what Condell is wanting to do...He is one of the biggest signings this offseason and is gonna be good for multiple players on offence Still wondering tho about ZC arm...will chalk this one up to basically horrible conditions and lack of reps thru camp with the #1's....Lets see what he does with hipefully ideal weather on thursday and a game under his belt. We still tho really need another WR who has...or can have any kind of impact/influence in the game and on a defence...That Corcorran/Cobb combi is just flailing away at nothing ...If Clercius was available and we were to move him and Neild around outide...inside...etc then that be a lil more productive and beneficial. Even tho Elsbury was "ok" he wasn't really a dominating force and the roster implications and taking an import away from elsewhere with his playing ...either on defence or at WR doesnt really have a real net benefit for us and makes us weaker overall Now if Woodbey is out for the yr than we mist give Smith the opportunity as well as more Shay and with Ayers..Wilson..Jones..Smith..Shay..Griffin already on the roster we can replace Woodbeys spot with either another DL guy like Reese or Fletcher...Or add Singer ...Another DB would be a waste as Osh seems tied to running Kelly and Hallett out there...And with Singer on roster Vaval could if need be cover an injury in the DB backfield and Singer could help carry the load on returns If Dixon needs ro miss a few games its a certainty that Fletcher gets on and be good to see what he does with the number 1's early in season so we kinda know what we got...Hopefully we dont do the dumb thing and slot in Korn...nothing like taking a step fotward with dline play and next game take 2 steps back Also must say..Perkins is a smooth..smart and really good short yardage guy...Just imagine midway thru the yr when he more accustomed to CFL ball how good he will be...he's gonna bust a big run sooner or later...I hope too we install some rpo type package for him or some QB sprint out bootleg type stuff to gas a defence a bit and really spread things out....Nothing from the pocket for now but a lot of motion and option looks

I hope Dixon is okay like I said during the game I like what I saw from him more that what Jenkins provided.

Yeah I can’t stand the mono-colour uniforms. Calgarys new ones are pretty bad I agree. The logo in the middle of the jersey and the CGY on the pants look dumb. Besides the Bombers regular home and aways, most of the leagues current uniforms are pretty crappy. Especially the Riders and Stamps.

Twenty years ago the Stamps were aaveraging 31000 fans a game. Even 10 years ago they were averaging 24-26000 a game. Then Covid came. Local media got ripped apart with budget cuts. And ownership stopped caring.

But hey let’s focus on changing the rules and the playoff format that will for sure help cities like Calgary build their product.

Those Stamps uniforms look like pyjamas out of the kiddies section of the Eaton's catalogue from 1972. Stamps ownership stopped carrying about the team when Murray Edwards took over. I think it's asking a lot for the fans to care about the team when the owner doesn't. Media coverage in town here is absolutely zero. No more local sports on tv. The two newspapers are toilet rolls.

You’re absolutely right. Opening day should be an event across the league with fanfare and real professional glitz. I was embarrassed for Stump fans as their players trot out onto the field of THE crappiest stadium ever looking high schooolish. These are professional football players. Imagine being a first time watcher of our league last night and what you would have thought right from the get go.

Stoked we won for sure but the whining about coaching decisions is not going away. If O’Shea won’t learn, neither will I! Between the nationalized American, our refusal to ever go for two and the coin toss choices, I’m gonna continue to whine BUT Team as a whole looked better than expected. Curious to hear about Woodbey but that looked significant … sucks for him as a human and truly hope it’s nothing serious but the silver lining for fans is this could be the break Jaylen Smith needs to have his coming out party. Would be excited to see what he can do if he’s called upon.

I think a lot of problems stemmed from preseason not being used at all to get the starting units in sync.

100% lots of negative Nellys reading through this thread, especially during that last drive. They gave up a drive, but CGYs O was executing at an extremely high level. Bombers weren't going to give up the big play quick score. If Cgy wanted a TD they'd have to do it via a long drive and no mistakes.....and they did. Welcome to ******* football. It happens. Would I bet on that happening more than 2 or 3 times in a season...no I would not. Thats a big ask for any offense. Dave Dickenson isnt a rookie and Vaj is a good qb. The hyperbole here around coaching during the game while we watch on our couch is hilarious on many levels. As soon as Vaj ran that ball in for a TD at the end, I had instant hope. Once ZC hit wilson I knew it was over! Saying all of that, it wasnt a perfect game but game 1's never are. Get stuff cleaned up and this team can make a lot of noise.

I'll say I was less worried about the dbs than the linebackers.... Offense about what you'd expect. Some hits, some misses. Think the OL will wind up being good this year. Receivers dropped way too many balls. Collaros was OK given his lack of arm. Could have used some more help. Defensive line can actually get after a qb again, nice to see. Now play contain too.

They mentioned the blowing wind during the final drive when we were going for a TD, but I had no real concept about the weather until Zach talked about it postgame.

Lol… Jake Brady Broxton I’m nothing of an o-line expert but every time I watched Broxton he looked completely locked in… seemed like no chance anyone was getting by him… still makes me wonder what the line would look like with Broxton at LT and one of younger guys (Vanderpool now that Randolph is gone?) at RT… big Stan still solid, but starting to show his age…

As long as they start the season just a few weeks after thje snow goes away this is going to happen. Only the die hards care about the CFL in early June. The season starts too early. Next year even earlier. It should start with a bang on the Canada Day weekend. Not with a whimper on some random early June Thursday. The season opening weekend should be an event. The CFL has decided that it should compete with the SC playoffs & the NHL Draft in the spring & the MLB playoffs & World Series in October & early November. How stupid is that?

I got to say. Zach threw a dart for 28 yards to Wilson In a brutal wind. He had a few balls come short but I thought he was fine. His stats were pretty much identical to Vernon MVP in June and July Adam’s Jr

Extremely cold and extremely windy at McMahon. I haven't watched the video yet, but based on your posts, I don't think you guys realize how bad the elements were... It was like a playoff-time game, as confirmed by Zach on the OB post game. Just absolutely brutal conditions to play in. The wind was swirling all night and absolutely did change directions which is what kind of ****** the Bombers re: coin toss, etc. Defense and offense each took turns looking like all stars and then absolute hot steaming garbage. The stamps final scoring drive was embarrassing to sit there and watch. I, too, was fully expecting a fumble or INT on our final offensive drive. Credit to Zach and the whole offense for getting it done in the clutch. We have the best kicker in the league by a mile... Once they completed that pass to Pokey I knew we had won. McMahon is an absolute graveyard for us and has been for generations. That, combined with the weather, the fact that it's the first game of the year, on the road.... Just getting out of there with two points is a blessing. I really feel like next week at #FortHew will look better. Last year I walked out of McMahon at half time of that ludicrous "Stampede Bowl"... This year, redemption. Mrs Noeller was 0/5 in games attended last year and on the verge of being banned by me and @Coorsman from attending any further Bombers games. As the kick sailed through at the end, she looked at me and said "My curse is lifted!"... She may stay... For now. Go Blue.
