Bombers add WR Jace Davis & RB Steven Miller to PR

WINNIPEG, MB., October 13, 2015 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce today the additions of International receiver Jace Davis and International running back Steven Miller to the practice roster.

Davis (6’1, 206, Northern Colorado, August 22, 1991 in Lone Tree, Col.) played 43 games for the UNC Bears, catching 162 balls for 2,470 yards and 16 touchdowns. In 2010 he was named to the Big Sky All-Conference First Team, and in 2012 he was an honourable mention. Davis spent time in the NFL with the Texans and Ravens after signing as an undrafted free agent in Baltimore in 2014.

Miller (5’7, 172, Appalachian State, March 23, 1991 in Plainfield NJ) ran the ball for 1,368 yards and 11 touchdowns in his senior year with the Mountaineers. He also added four touchdowns through the air that year. Miller spent the entire 2013 season on the Detroit Lions’ practice squad, before heading to Saskatchewan in 2014. In spot-duty with the Riders, he racked up 131 rushing yards, and another 310 on kickoff returns.

The club also releases running back Jeff Scott from the practice roster.

  • I understand that that Steven Miller guy can really fly - like an eagle, some say.

  • No angst here, as long as we keep looking at RBs from all over. Miller? Just a warm body who's already experienced the CFL. I don't see him as anything but a spare part in a piecemeal running game/k

  • Love to see a well structured debate such as this one.  Hard to decide who's right.

Adams Randle and B Johnson are better. Demond and Bucknor are our weak links

Always liked DW, but the last 2 weeks have been a real struggle.   Bucknor is simply the opposition's go-to guy for long TD passes.

Walters and Co need to get off their asses and scout running backs instead of bringing in rejects from other clubs.

Bruce Johnson is absolutely NOT better than Washington.

Some call him the space cowboy.

Some call him Maurice.

LOL!

Washington has struggled this year. I don't think that can be argued. Whether it's chemistry / communication issues with Adams or simply a change in play style born out of the offseason rule changes, he's not made a tangible impact this season.

Can he be a playmaker? Absolutely. Has he demonstrated that this season? Absolutely not.

Getting back to Miller... How come we are not bringing in new blood?

Rb even during our crappiest years always seemed to be the easiest position to recruit. Doesn't Walters have a database with a dozen rbs we can bring in??

They have. Hill was on the PR. Scott was. They have.

Too bad Carlos Anderson got hurt in the preseason

Bruce Johnson is 10 x the player Washington is lol. I don't get how people think he sucks.

I like word puzzles as much as anyone but I stared at this for 10 minutes and I still can't figure out what the hell you're trying to say.

Edited due to iPhone stupidity

I would say Washington could be a better DB however he doesn't seem to have learned what Pass Interference or Contacting the Kicker is! If one was to look at the stats, I would guess he is the most penalized DB in the league for this infraction and it has hurt us a ton! Just sayin

I do believe Demond Is a free agent at the end of the year. Doubt he's brought back.

Just for the record, totally forgot about Adams. Yeeesh. But Demond over Johnson for sure, and that's a statement about DW more than anything because Johnson is good.

abra abra cadabra just like that Kyle reaches out and grabs ya.

Doesn't matter who is better between Washington or Johnson... both are damn good DBs....

If we could find a way to get another import in Bucknors spot we would be laughing. Because we all know this current scouting staff knows how to find DBS.

I've been thinking about this a lot recently... but more about next season... with the way Legget has played at SAM/DIME I wonder if they would consider a guy Like Garrett Waggoner at safety and move Randle back to the corner... Randle and Adams could be one of the best shut down combos in the league...
