Post(game)Mortem - Edm collapse...soon to be season collapse

First things first, I usually don't put too much into reffing and use as excuse, but last night was pretty bad. I'm more referring to the Ref's glee and happiness in announcing a Bomber penalty that had a big impact, more than all the non calls...but that was bad as well....and he has done that versus us several times...You are taught to keep emotions in check especially as the head ref and not show any kind of bias or what could be construed as such...I know nothing by league will be done or said about it but a fine or getting yanked for a few games should be in order

What started as actual optimism, and maybe a sense that we (coaching) have finally got it was short lived. and pretty much smoke and mirrors until the Edm coaching analyzed our game plan and made the changes to counter it....and we did not...again. Not a one off...it's a theme, and to beat the ol dead horse again but coaching (or the lack of) is our issue and it looks as if many are finally seeing it....Post game interview with Osh agian shows a total lack of...well anything...has no clue...his excuses are getting old and by game 10 should not be an issue anymore....just sad

Last game, we sorta rediscovered our offensive identity...that aligned with earlier wins, and our trademark in the distant ago glory yrs...we came out firing...actually expanded on it...did some real good thigs with the oline to make it even better...then just went totally away from it, or did anything unique off of it and went almost the whole second half before getting a single 1st down.

Now why the heck does the HC...Who has a headset on...a play sheet in front of him...has obviously been watching the game (i hope) not get on his headset and say "what the eff are you doing...get back to what was working" Just utter incompetence.... obliviousness to what's going on (you can see it on the sidelines with his clueless looks) and a lack of guts to get in a coach's face not too mention any player's...too concerned with nice guy vibes and not wanting to hurt any feelings or show doubt's....a very weak coach, and it foster's a whole lotta weak play....he show's no accountability, is asking for none....and a lot of the player's play with little...they know they safe....coaches too...I asked a buddy who was there to tell me the vibes on the Bomber sideline, and what he saw...Told me same ol Bomber sideline...too much casual attitudes...happy faces...nobody really coaching anyone up or getting in anyone's face ...no sense of any urgency or anger...Just the same ol same ol....what a shock

Our receiving group...putrid and won't take us anywhere...how much more do we need to see? Like really...What is making Osh Justify running Cobb and Nield out there?...Same with Daniels...Who for a shitkicker got trucked pretty easily on several blocking responsivities...again...Right on cue they basically did what they been doing all yr...combined gave us 4 catches for 36 yards. Not gonna be very successful when 1/2 your receiving group gives you those numbers....and wasnt just a matter of that the game flow dictated that...go back and look at their combined production over all 10 and see...its what they do...and for funnsies add in Corcoran's 6 games to it, and instead of an extra guy making it a bit better...makes it even worse...But what would you expect for a guy who would prob not make a JUCO roster

Also lost in this is Clercius who "apparently" loafed on a play gets benched and has hardly seen field since for Corcorran of all people,,,He basically catches every ball (85%) career catch rate and actually does his job in the blocking (Nield is the offense version of kelly/holm) who play like pre-pubescent girls...no offence to pre-pubescent girls but you all know what I mean...plus how many brutal drops now??

If he was being "punished" or demoted as a reason to get a bee under his saddle I think its time to flip flop him and Neild..cant be any worse than his 2 catches a game for 30 yards nonsense...at least we know he will make some blocks...

Based on post game interview...and actually you can see it now on the field but ZC is visibly frustrated with this group...basically called out some players without calling them out when pressed on some of the plays in his interview...he see's it...we see it...Coaching see's nothing...Interesting enough in the tail end of the broadcast Taylor and Brown said

that we need to do something with that group...and that there's a couple options available that we could bring in and haven't and no reason for not doing so....and also that we are not even maximizing what we have in house....another tidbit was that yes Osh refuses to use the Nationlized American rule cause he "doesn't like it" and that it is actually not benefitting us with him not using it...like what kind of a HC put's his bias ahead of the team...Smuggsy does...thats who....and it's painfully obvious in a lot of areas and should not ever happen...EVER...but here we are

We aint going anywhere anytime soon with Osh and his ways....not happening....and sadly this first quarter dominance is just gonna justify him to make no changes....cause we watched the film once again and figured it out...yeah right

The only change I see happening is if Nichols cant go....the smart move would be to Start Vaval, as he can keep up with MTL receivers...in Nichols spot bring in Texada I guess as that's all we have hanging around for DB coverage and Stuart for Novack... and drop Hazen for Singer who will serve a dual purpose...Inject some life into the WR group and give ZC another legit option and maybe open up some space and also help on returns...But that makes too much sense

Knowing osh tho...will prob bump Kelly to halfback, Start Hallett at safety and dress Jenkins for Nichols as ...well he's been here for 2 yrs

Its interesting to hear that DT is being critical, I find he's usually a little more pro club. Brown, yeah he's been vocally critical. I mean Brown sounds like most of us here to be honest.

Only push back I'll give out of all you said was A) I saw Clercius on the field a lot and B) Zach missing a wide open Pokey on 2 occasions cost us the game, imo. Coaching didn't do that.

Milt is right. Collaros has no business being on the football field. Liability to both himself and the team. Coaches must shoulder some blame/responsibility for not doing something about that.

He had some reps..wouldn't say a lot...but he should be starting over either or of Cobb and Nield..one of them can rotate...Neither have done anything to justify keeping their spot after 10 games

ZC also said some receivers ran wrong routes but didnt throw anyone under the bus..but put it out there

Yeah...id also have some packages for Perkins to see how the offense looks with him...hes not tge standard cfl rookie qb

Didn't hear that. Had no interest in listening to any of the post-game.

But something switched with Zach at some point. He was getting the ball out quick, finding the hot route with pressure in his face, and like a light switch was flicked, he suddenly couldn't do it anymore.

Pretty bang on but elks are still pretenders. But good for drawing some crowds.

Quote an essay, but agree totally.

Was unable to watch the game due to Shaw's service outage but from the 'OB telecast, two things seemed clear: once Collaros got clobbered (that absolutely was RTP), his effectiveness went way down, and he likely stiffened up, and the Elks made halftime adjustments and the Bombers did nothing but fold. It seems probable that we had a preview of the rest of the season.

Zach had a pretty good game and should kick the crap out of his receivers for not holding up their end the the bargain. Bunch of dumber than rocks pansies out there.

yup....yu could feel it in his interview post game too

yeah...He's pushing them now...and its good...I hope he asks some hard hitting questions

Brownie has been there..seen it...knows the signs and signals....so he speaking truth's and good for him....Like many here as well, that have a football background and experience on varying levels...it's painfully obvious. Just because a person is a coach at a professional level, doesnt mean they are football genius's and or can miss the painfully obvious...they have their ways and beliefs and some just can't move past them...we seeing it in real time

I dunno how as a qb you watch Pokey Wilson give such piss poor efforts on potential big plays 2 weeks in a row and not blow a gasket at him and the coaches and anyone else that listens... Like that wide open down the sidelines play on 2nd down where he shows less than 0 awareness of his position.... What the **** are they doing in practice?

Is there something going on with Pokey off the field because he's been brutal the past two weeks?

On the biased reffing....what the hell was that...I've suspected for a very long time that the bias goes pretty deep....Articles written about the club....general reporting contain a 'anybody else except the Bombers' attitude...Must be a hold over from our success of awhile ago when the hatred of our success ran rampant....Hate to say it but we're paying for it now and IF that's the way we are viewed by some...a BIF FU TO THEM....if everyone is not playing on an even field, as was indicated by the head ref in Edm with his exuberance for the Elks play, then we know what we're up against..we have to play the refs as well as the opposition...Just unbelievable crap

Well not using the full amount of practice time each week isnt helping matters either...no reason for the extra days off. None...these guys are elite athletes and as practices are such a joke anyway they can manage practicing every day after the minimum 1 full day off after a game as per the CBA

If they dont like it..start producing and making errors...plain and simple

And yeah...nobody says diddly..seems overly concerned..or does anything about it..its all ho-hum

But its bubbling in ZC tho..I sense it in BO too...Even WJ seems more quiet and contained and doesn't wanna spew the old rhetoric b.s...I can honestly see some lockeroom issues now...brought on from our kid glove gutless coaching

yeah ...the drop in the endzone in the Ottawa game was not Pokey...Maybe he's finally seeing the hype we had going fresh into the season is doing the 'big fade'...Still no reason to quit

I just don't get the bombers. How have they not sent a message to the fans - by making some changes - sit a few stars - demote/fire the OC. Show some grit. Make some of the vet's back up some of the new guys. The status quo, the 'we will watch film' just does not cut it.

The laissez faire attitude is bull, and needs to stop now. The longer it goes - the higher up the chain of command the axe falls. Salvage the goodwill, please, make some changes.

The comment osh made this week in an article leading up to the game said a lot and should have been the key indicator of how the practice week and roster leading up to this game was gonna shape up..and turn out.."we right where we want to be" or was it need? Can't recall.. one or the other but regardless..just was confirmation of obvious..he sees no issues..no reason to change anything and all is on right track...just clueless

I still say even if you start signing guys like Geno Lewis at worst you get people to worry about their jobs

Yup...and if anyone thinks Lewis would offer less than Cobb and Nield they seriously have issues

Man drop Hazen for Singer..Add Lewis for Elsbury...start them and only have 1 Canadian reciever and 2 starters on defence Canadian which we could easily do...plus use the Nationslized American...would be night and day difference for the Offence...Demski with White..Singer..Lewis..Pokey..and Clercius and Nield as rotation and depth...how's that not better than what we currently running out there?

And the thing with the nationalized American he actually counts as your required eighth Canadian starter but since we choose not to use him h Osh has to start eight true Canadians which makes us weaker...guys a fool...and if u designated one like say Bryant.. then that also allows you to add an additional American on the roster to fill his spot...just plain lunacy to serve his bias

Nield Cobb and Daniels eat so many snaps and do nothing with them. It's criminal

Like @17to85 said in another thread, if Singer and Womack aren’t good enough to replace Gavin ******* Cobb then why are they even employed by us?

I don’t think replacing a guy like Cobb or Kelly is going to be the move that turns us into Grey Cup contenders but it could be the kind of move that changes (or leads to a change) culture in the locker room. It’s obvious to anyone (well, almost) that there is absolutely no accountability on this team from the top all the way down.

Why should guys try on game day? They’re not playing for anything. There’s no threat to their spot on the team. There’s no coach on the sidelines that will chew them out if they don’t show up prepared or if they don’t execute. It’s no wonder that we never play a full 60 minutes.

We’ve got a coach who doesn’t use all the advantages available to him because he thinks they’re silly, a general manager who is the least active in the CFL during the season and a locker room full of people who don’t really seem like they give a single ****.

This might be one of the most frustrating versions of this team that I’ve ever seen, even beyond some of those Mike Kelly or Tim Burke years because this front office and coaching staff has proven they ARE capable of so much more than this, they just don’t really seem like they can be bothered.

Collaros looked like he belonged on the field in the first half. he didn't in the second. So what happened? The Elks adjusted & we didn't. I put what happened in the second half on Tommy Condell. Not so much on Zach. At least we know our OL can still totally dominate. for one half. Coaching is a joke.

It was a rare game where we looked prepared and ready to play and then absolutely nothing in the second half.

THAT is coaching. Anyone who says that it's the players fault this happened is clueless. This is a coaching issue. Younger may not be the whiz we thought he was. Condell is just a freaking disaster as an OC. Then we have Mike O'Shea who keeps doing this when he's asked how it'll all get fixed.

We forgot about the adjusting aspect..or adapting to the game nuances..next week we come out looking like 45 rookies...but adjust in 2nd half when the game is out of reach? Lol
