We also don't get the bone chilling cold we used to 30 yeatrs ago anymore.

This past fall / winter begs to differ. But I agree with what you guys are saying about winter vs. spring

I didn’t think winter was cold. Just more snow than the last few years combined and now it’s plus 40 again June 7 making it feel tropical rain Forrest like but with tornado warnings. That seems worse than October to me.

Shitty weather in May and June is also so much worse in this part of the world. It's humid and bone-chilling when cold. Or pouring rain. Weather in May-June is crazy volatile. Literally the time of year when all the storm chasers are hanging out in MB/SK and the Dakotas waiting for rotation.

Speaking as someone who has had involvement in spring and fall football my entire life. Fall is far more manageable.

Same here. You just have to grow up in the West to know spring sucks.

When was the last time it was as cold as the 1991 Grey Cup in November in Winnipeg? The temp on kickoff that day was minus 18 & the windchill was close to minus 30-35. With climate change temps like that aren't as prevalent as decades past. Not to say that we won't ever be as cold as that again but it will be the exception & not the rule.

-18 with a wind isn't that unusual

It’s a different wind tho. ;)

By the midpoint of November, we had that in MB some days. But then, we still had snow in May

Plenty of -20C in November. And too much snow for ice fishing with a truck all winter, so I'm salty. 😁

Meeeeee toooooo...... Couldn't get to our spots via Warner and had to settle for some mediocre Plan B's..... Siiiiiiiiigh.

Midpoint of November will mean a week after the GC is played. Cold weather isn't really an issue. I still say that fans will sit in cold or bad weather if there is something on thre line late in the season. They sure won't early when there are still 17 games left.

Referring to the current schedule. GC is at the end of November.

The Grey Cup this season is on November 15th in Calgary. Next year it will be a week earlier.

Stoked we won for sure but the whining about coaching decisions is not going away. If O’Shea won’t learn, neither will I!

Between the nationalized American, our refusal to ever go for two and the coin toss choices, I’m gonna continue to whine

BUT

Team as a whole looked better than expected. Curious to hear about Woodbey but that looked significant … sucks for him as a human and truly hope it’s nothing serious but the silver lining for fans is this could be the break Jaylen Smith needs to have his coming out party. Would be excited to see what he can do if he’s called upon.

Those complaints are legitimate and bother me as well. Especially the choice of ball or wind. I was more so commenting on the in game complaints about the secondary or Offense etc. It's easy to complain about stuff during the game, but when watching on TV especially...there is just so much missing context. Multiple players commented on the weather after the game and how crazy the wind was. Watching on TV it didn't look that bad at all.

The calling for firing of coaches or cutting players etc is just funny to me.

And that last drive, the Bombers secondary was playing soft, but that was by design. People might not like it....but making an offense go 10+ (nevermind 15+) plays without a mistake will most of the time work out pretty well. CGY's O is no joke and VAJ and company executed damn near every play they ran. Bombers didn't want to give up the quick score and they didn't. Yes it almost cost them, but I'm not mad at that strategy.

It’s scheme tho cuz we suck against the run.

For 30min. Because the last 30 minutes they gave up under 30 yards rushing.

Also it's game 1....this team doesn't suck or excel at anything yet.

Except we have sucked against the run for years now. Years. Even with Bighill we gave up big time run yards. Our d bends but don’t break. It bends lots when teams decide to run.

Interesting stats in the game.

Zach and VA pretty much even stats. Completions attempts yards tds. Zach had the 1 pick.

Brady and mills pretty much exactly the same also.

Turns out VA only targeted the 5th Calgary receiver twice. He had 1 catch. Our 5 Cobb targeted once. 1 catch. Corcoran 0 for 1. So pretty much same usage. Don’t see it being an issue. Zach don’t look at option 3 much nm 5 unless it’s a designed play.

Zach had 9 players targeted, competing passes to 7. Calgary had 7 targeted and competed. Basically even there too.

All phases of our special teams was pretty darn good considering first game and real bad weather.

All in all was a pretty good cfl game IMO.

for our first...with some guys playing their first time this spring really with no Pre-season work to mention, pretty encouraging for sure

I will always be stoked anytime they win a game in that stadium.

I know it’s been better in recent years, but I mean they went 12 years between wins in Calgary at one point and if I’m correct (2002-2019) 17 seasons between winning games there that actually mattered to both teams (2014 and 17 were last week of the season with no stakes for the Stampeders)

Wins at McMahon are to be savoured.
