Heard yesterday morning out of Regina a Rider player had been in a wreck and that it was likely the Rider players fault, didn't know who until afternoon. Then a lot of locals went off on a "brown guy

Looks like a 'heads up' for the rest of that lot.

Montreal is basically giving up a ST TD against per game. But their ST guy is head coach in waiting.

damn, Davis Alexander is playing some fine football right now. That red zone throw he made back into the middle while sprinting right was ludicrous. Hit his guy right in the hands with a soft pass. Made Lapo woop.

I hope he's not hurt again. CFL needs guys like that to stay on the field.

IMO, and I've said this since last year, Alexander is 1a/1b Best QB In The League with Rourke. He just always gets hurt. But when healthy, he's as good as there is in this league right now.

All he does is produce at the highest level and win. Kid is crazy good.

Philpott, Alexander, and Rankin could smash records this year. And the KRs in the league are going wild too. Vaval, Grant, McAllister, Pimpleton it could be the year of the return man.

This start to the year should have the league thinking over some of the changes for next year.

It looked like another hamstring....could be the same one he hurt last year and if so it could be a re-occurring injury he just can't shake... Mont. can't lose a player like that or the league...

Benny is lucky because BC's D stinks.

I think what they need to do is move Benny as ST coordinator and put back Ryan Phillips as DC.

one thing I've always wondered about...

You look at guys like Alexander and they are just ridiculously cut with lots of super defined muscle mass.

We can make super powerful humans nowadays with training and diet and ... supplements ... but do the joints and soft tissues scale alongside that muscle power? It seems like zero-contact injuries, esp. the dreaded achilles tear, are on the rise ... I'm wondering how the non-muscle bits of human body copes with having all that power that it totally didn't evolve for.

(I am not a bodybuilder or trainer and know nothing about physiology, so this may be a dumb question)

(edit: and google sez the hamstring itself is actually a muscle and not a tendon so I dunno if this thought even applies to Alexander's hams or not)

Apparently, he changed his off season training regimen last season to get away from being tight. Hammys are a real *****. My son missed almost his entire senor season at SFU when he injured his hammy in the previous February doing off season training. He still wasn't ready to go in September. Didn't get into a game until November. His entire senior season was just washed away. If this hamstring injury becomes chronic then Alexander may require surgery.

Nothing you can do to get tendons to grow and stay in same ratio as normal athletic muscle tone....bigger you get the more strain they will have to take on...Musculature in a joint area such as shoulder....and thigh area for the knee can help in making them more stable but the tendons are just staying as is...and that extra muscle can inflict a lot more torque...When I fully dislocated my shoulder they actually had to pump me up with valium and then sedate me as the muscles around the joint were compensating to protect it and 4 people couldn't get it back in place...

So its kind of a damned if you do...damned if you don't scenario for adding good lean bulk...you can somewhat protect a joint and have it more stable...but the tendons/ligaments themselves aren't stronger and a lot of times unbeknown to the athlete and therapists over time it can be slowly coming apart from all the stress they are under..and just go...like you see on so many non contact injuries...I have worked with strength and conditioning coaches' who are trying to figure out ways to pre-determine if a joint is failing and kinda do best they can for preventative maintenance but it's not a exact science by any means...shi8t just happens sadly

Hammies are weird as they are part muscle...and tendon...For one of my reconstructions a hammy graft was used to replace a ACL...As oppose to the earlier ways of getting the patellar graf which can cause issues in and of itself....Highly not recommended now for athletes still in prime, or kids in Highschool/college...if at all now...I think thats been stored away in the archaic files...but dont quote me

the thing that always surprises me about Rourke is his breakaway speed. Seems like once a game he'll catch the D selling out for the pass and go for a big gallop. Where Fajardo or Collaros or Brown would get seven yards, he'll get twenty or thirty. Trying to remember a CFL guy who could pass as well as Rourke who also had the zooms. Rourke is way faster than Moon ever was. Ricky Ray was not a fast man. Calvillo ran like a barge. Flutie had all the moves but I think Rourke is faster.

Alexander's an explosive and nimble runner when his hammies aren't tweaked ... but I was shocked at how good Rourke's top gear is.

Damon Allen in his prime?

oh yeah, Allen was lethal in the open field, although I remember him being snaky and elusive more than blazing fast. But I think Rourke is a better passer than Allen ever was.

I remember Condredge for his toughness -- he played through a lot of gnarly injuries. He didn't have Allen's gift for avoiding contact...but at his best he was fantastic.

I think JC Watts was closer to Nealon Greene than he is to Rourke. Guy could run a little bit but he was not a great passer, nope.

Ham, maybe, that guy was a true dual threat.

Watts could tuck it & run... Ham was outstanding. As a Bomber fan, he used to scare the bejeebers out of me when he played for Edmonton. He was at his most dangerous as a runner when the pocket started to collapse around him.

Didn't take long for Ajou Ajou to come back, didn't it? It seems that the more these incidents occur then the faster a player is cleared. The CFL talks a big game when it comes to protection of women from sexual predators but this is ridiculous. He still has to serve a 6 game suspension once signed so he'd be used as a player to help teams push this team o the playoffs or Grey Cup in October. What a joke.

That didn't take long. Add the Stamps to the list of teams with no problems signing trash.
