What qb would replace him? That's why. There's no one. Curtis Rourke ain't ever coming now that he's Purdy's backup. A million dollars a year may attract some much needed new talent to the CFL at qb. Remains to be seen though as they pay in Canadian dollars.

Rourke is a third stringer, not the backup and there is a good chance he gets cut and has to come to the CFL at some point.

I had read that he was the actual backup. Even as a third string qb he's not here. He's not coming.

I would not say there is a good chance at him coming up. Look at all the QBs in the CFL; how many are former NFL AR backups? I think 2-3 max. It is less and less common each year too.

I have no idea what is going to be available at QB, though I expect it to be underwhelming. Tell you what though, if I was them I'd go after brown as a back up. You need a qb2 with some ability off the bench and leaving us with zach or less would make them a lock for a spot next year with most any qb.

Mac Jones is 100% the back up. Rourke is the 4th stringer currently .

They only have 3 QB's on the roster so I'm not sure how he would be 4th?

Jones is a pending FA so there's been some talk that he could be moved if they are happy with Rourke's progression.

I guess Rourke is off the IR, they had Adrian Martinez as the 3rd stringer earlier this year.

Mac may move if a team gets real desperate (like Baltimore) and offer a lot.

Yeah Martinez was waived back in August as part of the final roster moves coming out of camp. Rourke missed the final two weeks of camp but was never on the IR.

It would definitely take an overpay but some teams are desperate so we'll see shortly as there's only a week until the trade deadline

Who knows what Rourke even looks like if he makes it through his contract. He'd be a UFA in 2029, having made over 4 million USD, possibly not having played a meaningful game since the end of 2024 and having his ACL repaired twice in the same knee.

It wasn't all his fault. I've met Trevor Harris. Spent two days with him at a combined qb coaches clinic & camp this past spring & he's a team guy. There's a lot of egos in that Rider locker room that contributed to their downfall this season starting with their head coach. After all their injuries the mindset also became.... "Oh, we lost because KSB, Ouelette & Emilus are out. Just wait until they get back as we'll kick ass". I honestly believe the Riders thought all season long that all they had to do is show up & other teams would just lie down for them. That's why you play the game. You don't win championships on paper.

KSB has if anything earned the crown as the biggest douchewhistle in the entire league and it not even close..and that says a lot as there are several other extreme ones out there..

Yeah, I don't get player attitudes today. All the preening, talking, yelling, screaming. Just do the job you're paid to do. All that other stuff KSB does is just a waste of energy.
