Which QB's would you trade for Collaros straight up?

Just Rourke.

still trade for brown/alexander with ease. Significantly cheaper, will still be playing 2-3 years down the road, no signs of playing as bad as zach has the past two years.

On top of that, vaj and arbuckle won’t play at a significantly lower level, are also much cheaper and will play significantly longer.

We aren’t talking pennie’s under the cap either, we are talking big all star free agent difference.

Blm and harris won’t play significantly longer, but have been significantly better over the past two years plus.

I expect zach to be a good bit better this year. He will pass a couple of those guys in performance this year, if he stays healthy. By no means do i expect him to pass all those guys.

I am a fan, so I obviously have my blue tinted glasses on. Trading Zach would need to accomplish more than a Madden trade where you’re giving up a guy with an 85 rating for a guy with a 88 rating.

I do not think the team supported Zach properly the last couple of seasons and I do expect a certain amount of positive regression with the moves we made this year.

As to the cap space, in the time of marketing money, I don’t think we’re handicapped in any way by Zach’s contract if we chose not to be.

All that said, Brown and Alexander still exist in the world of potential. They have yet to prove themselves over a full season. VAJ is a guy I would have loved to trade for early in his career, but not one I’m giving up Zach for now. Arbuckle isn’t even in the same tier and probably isn’t a guy who can pick up where he left off with a new team.

It would, the primary purpose of most of those trades would be 1 getting more years of high-level play at QB and getting it significantly cheaper.

Now it doesn't mesh great with the age of the additions this offseason to go all the way young. But a guy like Va would balance that. And while I don't particularly like him, it would be a smart move if available.

This year, marketing money has been cracked down on by the CFL. It's not what it was previously.

The last 2 years zach is putting up 238 yards per game, and basically 1:1 tds to int and 1 each per game. No qb in the league has as many terrible games over the past 2 years. Let's be realistic, around the league, Zach is the lowest-tier starting QB. We hope, and reasonably so, that he can get back somewhat to a high level of play with our additions. But no one else in the league would trade for and start Zach today. It's also been a long time since he was close to healthy.

At this point, while I'm optimistic about him for this year, I think the chances he is playing and serviceable next year are very close to 0.

You nailed it regarding Zack....Fingers crossed he lasts the year.....One positive is that it looks like we have a solid no 2 and 3 ...Elgersma ...Perkins....not necessarily in that order....I have to say Perkins surprised the heck of me, considering his lack of Canadian ball experience...He looked really comfortable at the controls

I think we got a brief glimpse into what Zach is still capable of when he has targets and time. Add in our extremely efficient run game and there's not reason to think he isn't going to have a resurgence ala Harris/Mitchell.

Keep him clean in the pocket and he's going to be available in ways he hasn't been the last two years as well.

Not to mention his relationship with Condell is a great environment to be developing Ermerdsma in. There's a lot of teaching happening right now. I think this is an underrated aspect which may not be as effective if Adams Jr was suddenly dropped into the mix instead.

Again, blue glasses. But there is value in retiring Zach in blue and gold.

Anyone watch Calgary play last year after July?

VAJ is awful.

It's not a mistake that every team he's on is always in a hurry to replace him.

Fyp.

Again, I really wanted VAJ when he was younger. Thought he could be really great if he had some consistency instead of moving around all the time.

Not that that version of the Bombers would have been able to provide him consistency, but still.

Agreed. Anyone can have an off year, but two bad years back to back are a pattern. Yes, the OC and O-line were poor last year, but a pattern is a pattern and Zach has a history of injuries that are increasingly difficult to bounce back from. Elgersma looks like he could be our QB of the future and he didn't arrive any too soon.

We all know the reasons why ZC had a resurgence after he came here in 2019. Top notch pass pro, a great running game and sure-handed receivers who also played the game tough as nails and complimented his style of play. The past 2 seasons, they have not provided him with anything even close to that. In fact, the offensive rostering and planning has been borderline inexplicable.

Yep. Plus a little bit of a miraculous physical recover fro zach from more than a couple concussions.

Makonzo retires in toronto. Guy just couldn't get/stay healthy. Such a shame.

Yes, but to be fair. He's bounced back from consecutive bad years before. So the question is, can he do it again?

He also seems healthy for the first time in a long time. Im sure he will bounce back from the last two years, just a question of what is his current top level of performance. I think his peak performance capability is something like the early 2ks tier QBs. Sporadic high passing yards out put, high 2 and out count, lots of tds, close to the same amount of pics.

Collaros is not only fighting other teams but also the clock (obviously). He may be able to forestall the inevitable, but no way to tell when he will lose the battle. Bombers already lost a Battle today.

A.J. Allen's top 5 running backs in the CFL - CFL.ca

From Justin Rankin to Brady Oliveira, Ottawa REDBLACKS linebacker A.J. Allen counts down his top five running backs to play against in the CFL.

When explaining what makes Brady Oliveira special and why he’s been included in the linebacker’s rankings, Allen only had one thing to say.

“They give him the ball a ton,” laughed Allen.

Yeah, thats the only thing the clown had to say about Oliveira, "They give him the ball a ton". Yeah we do, and he still leads the league in yards per carry every freaking year(including last season). He also talks about how Rankin and Mills are so powerful and love contact, meanwhile Oliveira leads the league every year in yards after contact, and game in game out runs over guys like they owe him money. I love all these CFL.ca rankings where we continually get disrespected. Keep it up assclowns. Cant wait to punch the league in their collective cocky mouths.

putz...I think he over rated as well...decent but not the start many make him out to be

BO gets the ball a lot...yeah cause he gets it done...and like you said...best avg yards per carry...yards after contact..etc....You have a workhorse bell-cow back...you use him. The others don't get used as much because.....well they don't get it done as consistently...it's as simple as that

Let's hope Oliveira uses that quote as motivation & runs cleat marks up & down Allen's body. These linebackers are always so yappy. They just can't shut up. .

Brady does all that despite the defence knowing this is going to happen and keying in oh him. Not the same for Rankin or Mills.

I’m hoping that Zach can adjust his game to take what the defense gives him and not make every second throw a deep pass. Clearly he’s lost some arm strength so becoming more like at Yrvor Harris isn’t a bad thing at this point.
