Just got my Banjo Bowl tickets. I'm having toe surgery on July 8th. No weight bearing for 6 weeks so this is cutting it close. If I can't go then I'll let you guys know & I'll sell my 2 seats at face value here.

Who was JJ Taylor?

Signed him in February. Guess he had second thoughts about playing up here.

wr/kr jayden harrison is a big upside kr prospect. Oj arnold is a good quick one cut back. Sucks jaworski retired

Yeah that sucks. Good thing we still have Jenkins and Dixon from last year. And in general the competition looks pretty good along the d line.

Unrelated. It looks like we have all of our draft picks signed outside of Nuer (minicamp May 8-10) and Cline.

Yeah totally sucks - my mom's maiden name is Jaworska (female version of Jaworski) and I was hoping he would become a starter so I could get her a jersey, as I know she would have loved it. Oh well.

The club also announces title changes in the team’s personnel department, with Jim Jauch moving to Assistant General Manager, and Danny McManus shifting to Senior Assistant General Manager. Both individuals play crucial roles in scouting for the organization.

Blue Bombers transactions - April 30 - Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Those of us old-timers around here remember the Ray Jauch era for the Bombers in the period 1978-1982 - which was special for me as that was when I really started following Bombers in elementary school, so though I have vague memories of Bud Riley, it was Ray Jauch who was the first coach I ever really remember. The Bombers had moderate success in those days with Dieter as QB but of course we always ended up against the Eskimos so it was hard to break through that wall. Good to see the next generation of Bomber family continuing the tradition. Does Cal Murphy have any kids we could hire? Cal will always be my favorite coach/GM.

Crusty Cal was born in 1932 so if he did have children involved in football at the CFL level, we'd have seen them 30 or more years ago.

Yep, would have been almost exactly that long ago. His oldest son, Mike, did briefly coach with Ottawa (during the Gliberman era) but moved on to scouting in the NFL where he stayed for almost 20 years with various teams. Not sure if any of his other kids got involved with football.

I thought Jaworski was going to be our guy opposite Willie. That sucks.

Which glieberman era? lol

Yeah, I was excited to see more of him. We certainly need to keep getting after DL to bring in for camp now.

We've got 6 end only guys on the roster, 4 of whom are under 250 lbs an by a decent margin under. We also have 1-2 guys are are possible edge/3t tweeners.

Dixon is a guy to watch at edge, he played a couple games in the NFL and stuck around the pr down there for 2 years. And we still have jenkins who got into the same game last year and was solid.

Other wise, we are not only thin on the edge, we are green. Really don't want to see Ayers as the DE again

Hoping that with the addition of Ceresna that it really takes the pressure off the other guys on the line. Our interior has been so weak lately I bet it makes it that much more difficult to contain. But I'm no expert.

Hes a brilliant pick up for us. Especially next to lawson. We need another guy inside to rotate, but the interior is gonna be beastly. That will for sure make it much easier for the edge guys to excel.

lol the first one in the early 90's. Mike said they were bouncing checks on the coaching staff (amongst other things) so he called up one of his contacts down south and eventually started scouting for the Chiefs.

The old football fan rule is that the most popular guy on the team is the backup quarterback, but it seems like on MBB the most popular guy is the monster DT or NT.

For sure. That's what I liked about Jaworski, he was more of a traditional DE not undersized.

The pocket will be collapsing for sure. If we can get a guy that can get the LT backpedaling QBs will have to deal with either getting sacked by Willie J or throwing right into his wingspan. JC is a dominant guy and will make a ton of difference. He was my number one choice for the Bombers to target in FA and I'm glad they felt the same.

The upgrade from Jake to Jake is almost unbelievable....

....thoughts and prayers for health across our roster, but for Ceresna in particular. He's had some recent injury trouble but hopefully will be free and clear all year.

Pretty much. Back in the day, great DTs never got the appreciation they deserved. Doug brown never got a sniff at MODP, little on mop. But is one of the very best players in that generation. He should've been in on it at least 4-5 times.

The thing is, QB play is pretty fixed these days. Top tier qbs don't move often, and are found even less frequently up here. The 3rd-4th best QB in the league isn't much better than the 10-12th best guys.

Meanwhile, the Lines are much more plentiful for upgrades. And those top linemen have a much bigger impact on winning then optmizing with in the mediocre tier of QBs. Teams and fans value the inside disruptor far more than ever before, but they are still not as high as pass-rushing bookends.

A great edge player who has a great game might get pressure on half his snaps. A great DT in a solid game might get pressure on 15% of his snaps, but converts far more of those into more punishment and more sacks, and also could easily disrupt the pocket on 2/3s of his snaps. We saw this with Kola getting roadrunner'd by Ceresna, entire games where Zach had no snaps where he could step up into the pocket.

No joke. At DL and QB, we just can't afford injuries this year. Not just Jake, willy or lawson too. Lawson goes down schmek is playing an old jake number of reps. willy goes down mid season and we have a handfull of combined games of experience among all the rest of the ends.

Doug Brown isn't just the best DT of his generation, he's arguably the best DT of all time, any nationality.
