Yeah, great to see as helmets are the biggest expense when it comes to buying football equipment for teams. I never hear of anything even close to that from the Stamps when it comes to the football community in Calgary. AFAIK, the team doesn't even exist anymore in Calgary. The media here treats the Stamps the same way the owner treats Calgarians. They ignore them the same way he ignores them. The local newspapers don't even cover away games anymore. Coverage is almost non existent. The owner is such a cheap bastard. Most fans wish he'd sell the team. He's an absentee billionaire owner who lives in Switzerland so he doesn't have to pay personal income taxes in Alberta & Canada after making his personal fortune here in the oil & gas industry. He's either refusing to sell or wants so much $$$ that no one will buy the team.

For my own info, what have the Bombers done for youth tackle football in Manitoba? It would be interesting to know. Here in Calgary, you sure don't hear much from the Stamps when it comes to tackle football in the community at any level.

They donate $$ for equipment to Club football. Like has been mentioned they run "try football" camps as well as short development camps for young kids. They have players help out in practices. They sponsor the 3 of the 4 flag football seasons. And a new one they are hosting a "Prairie Showdown" for flag football that I believe is basically a provincial tournament...sending the highest ranked MB team to nationals. I say highest ranks MB team because other provinces are involved as well as some states. They host coaching clinics and help with a coaching dinner for clubs to start the year. I can't say for sure but I'm sure they're involved in the new spring tackle season for U16 and up ages. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Bombers have created a spring Bantam 12 on 12 league this year.

Would be nice if we moved community football to the spring like every other province so we can actually run high school and up with proper resourcing in the fall.

In Winnipeg region we legitimately only have 6 officiating crews for minor football right through CJFL. They also are the stick/sideline crews for U Sports.

In Alberta, atom, pee wee & bantam are in the fall same as high school. We have spring league (formerly called midget) & girls U18 tackle football in spring. Seems to me that the officials associations have to do more recruiting.

Not really. Some cases you get behind an aging out vet, or a weak starter and may have a legit shot at seeing the field. Elgersma is behind a very good QB that he has no legit shot at a QB controversy

Not really? Come on man.

Just got my copy in the mail today. Pretty cool.

Have the financials been released from last season? Wonder how much they made

Considering they sold out the entire season and hosted the Grey Cup, I'm guessing quite a bit. Interesting to see the total.

Do you think that Cody Fajardo behind Tre Ford was an equal situation to Maier behind Harris last year in terms of probability of seeing the field? Fact is that some situations are much better for a number 2 than others. That's just straight up and undeniable fact. There was a very high probability that Fajardo was going to take over for Ford last year. There was almost zero chance for some other backups around the league to see significant playing time except thru injury. Elgersma as an unproven pro QB has almost zero shot at playing time as Corral is a very experienced and successful QB in that league.

The Stallions just signed another QB so that means that one of Hiers and Elgersma will be the odd man out. Hiers just spent the better part of two years on the Riders practice squad but he has 4-down experience

At any rate if they are signing QBs it's because they are not happy with their depth so even if Elgersma survives the cut, he is likely pushed down the depth chart. This is something I find interesting because both Hiers and Smith (Elgersma's QB competition) are true ham and eggers that are below CFL quality. Hiers got a quick looksie at the end of 2024 by the RIders but never made it to 2025 camp and Smith has not played ball of any significance since a pretty underwhelming college career. If Elgersma has trouble beating these guys out, it should really temper our expectations for him as a CFL future starter.

You really like to argue. Sure, some situations are better for the backup QB, but most situations require QB1 getting hurt for QB2 to get any significant reps. If you don’t agree, that’s fine.

Looks like Streveler is calling it a career. Posted a video on TT.

Getting injured is not the way the players should go out, but that's the reality of a contact sport. Much respect for everything he's done for the community and the team.

Maybe...he's only played 3 down ball. Not beating out Americans who have more experience than him at the game they are playing won't change how I think of him as a potential CFLer.

He has never played 3 down ball either. Playbooks in the CIS and CFL are light years different. The only advantage he has is knowing the size of the field, and being used to the extra attacker. Other than that he will have the same adjustment to a CFL offence as any of the QBs coming from NCAA.

His injury was your typical career ender. I thought if anyone could rehab and tough through it was him but the human body has it's limitations I guess. Too bad, great guy.
