A lot of hand wringing over what should be minimal impact. THIS!! I've never seen so much discussion about a positional coach period...never mind the griping. We've never once discussed the good or bad of a positional coach...not more than a couple random posts anyway. Goalie Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago (edited) Seems like Jake was in the video room lots. He put in time. He wasn’t great as a player but that probably doesn’t matter. Wade was a Jake back in his day lol, kinda different situations cuz Wade has a successful business career but similar really cuz both weren’t great players. Dinwiddie wasn’t good. Buck wasnt the best but not the worst. Osh was a good Canadian player, Mike miller our sp teams guy, he wasn’t an all star. I mean. I don’t want to go through teams in the cfl and look but guaranteed half the positional coaches were just dudes who played a few seasons or not even. They just played high school some of them. College. I mean. Who cares really. It’s pretty common for Former players to become coaches. And besides Jake isn’t gonna make Willie less lazy or any of that. He’s not the DC ffs. But I’m hoping our DL has a great year regardless. In reality shouldn’t be hard for Jake and crew to improve on 10 sacks all year really. Our DL sucked last year. I mean nowhere to go but up for them. And despite the narrative for a dude who played 13 years all in blue n gold, it wasn’t just him. And there’s some comedy in ppl on the internet sites thinking they know more than dude who played for 13 years in the pros plus school and prior years of actually playing football but yeah. Happy new year. If there’s a so called plethora of good Canadian dl coaches in the u sports then why don’t teams hire them. Hmm. And we out. Edited 22 hours ago by Goalie

He’s got elite closing and cod speed. Hes slight in build and lacks the physicality though. He couldn’t play bump n run on the corner, or cover TEs inside. He could play in a limited nickel cover role. He would struggle in run D though. That said, the steelers have leaned heavily on cover 4 with the Safety’s stacked tight. So Holm, would actually fit their system reasonably well. Id also add it’s useful to have guys like holm on the practice squad to help coach up new guys and run scout team D. It’s probably just a flyer work out for a guy with the raw tools and history of being solid up here. TBURGESS, Stickem, Piggy 1 and 1 other 4

johnzo Posted 2 hours ago Author Report Posted 2 hours ago hell, I am blind to most of the subtleties of football and even I can see that Holm is a ludicrous athlete. Can't think of another Bomber DB past or present with his maneuverability. Holm to me is kind of like "what if Charles Roberts grew a couple of inches and played DB?" Good luck to him with his shot. 15 hours ago, Tracker said: This kinda started out as an erotic description. Rod Black had Sticky -- MBB has Holm. Rod Black had Sticky -- MBB has Holm. (mods feel free to delete this terrible post) Taylor, he was an even more ridiculous athlete than holm. We do really like athletic outliers at db under jy. Db is our fastest and biggest collection of athletes every year. The couple of former nfl guys we had in camp this year were crazy too, and 6’ plus. I’ll also throw in woodbey as the single greatest athletic outlier on the team today. He has excellent run/jump tools to the point he could cover any spot on the field. but he’s also 6’2 235 with the strength and physicality to excel at wil/mac in the cfl. If biggie had his measurables he never would’ve played a down in the CFL. This kid 100% should be playing S or sam in the nfl. I love watching him cover area and wrs like a db, then just monster guys physically when the ball is in play. He ate ol and big blockers lunch on a ton of plays in the run game last year. S, Sam, Wil, Mac, Dhb, you could play him at most positions. He could probably pass rush from the edge in a pinch if you needed. Not just an athlete either, that guy is a tough ass football player. I’ve got very high expectations for him this coming year. johnzo 1

Even though he wouldn’t be asked to run bump n cover, he’d have to spend a lot of time early in camp just doing 1on1s. and his lack of physicality would be exposed and look even worse than normal. Nfl wrs get off is every thing. They are used to very tight spaces too. Holm is used to space, longer slower throws, and not getting tosses if he’s fairly close. If he could adapt to sticking tighter to wrs then using that burst for knock downs he’d be able to cover up his lack of physicality. He doesn’t need to win at the line with his jump.
