Tony Jones is currently the better MIKE than J.Jones whether some poster here want to hear it or not. J.Jones has the brighter future, but he isn't there yet. The only way some people are going to be happy with roster decisions is if everyone gets to dress on game day like preseason.

yup....He may say no to that...as he knows he can play and then it's up to Osh as to what and who in "his opinion" is the better asset..now...and moving forward....and we all know how that will go

As soon as T.Jones was signed to a 2 yr deal it was basically cemented that he was then strting MLB this yr regardless of what transpired in camp...That's his way of doing things and how we got ourselves into the depth issues and the near non-existent back-up plan or guys capable or trusted to step in when needed...and this yr....nothings changed

I'd hate to lose him and don't understand why he's not on the AR. As much as I like Ayers I'd bump him to PR and put Jones on the AR. At some point we can't keep putting players on the 1 game IR that aren't injured. The SMS cost adds up quickly.

For that matter I'd cut a couple off the PR and move shuffle the rosters a bit.

Weekly Predictor: Who wins on WestJet Canada Day Weekend? - CFL.ca

Never change Jamie Nye, never change. Actually go take a long walk off a short pier.

Love how he says how great the Bombers D has been and how bad the Elks D has been. Then talks about how Collaros has his favorite target back(Schoen), and how Wheatfall is a breakout star, and then proceeds to pick Edmonton to win based on nothing lol. That "nothing" is clearly his Bomber hate due to his Rider homerism.

Quick recap... he starts by saying the Bombers D has started the season great against a BC team without Rourke... I guess he forgot the blowout in week two... the proceeds to say the Elks suck at everything and Bombers are good at everything... so naturally, his pick is the Elks 😂

He isn't, though. tony jones is a pure liability in coverage. He's worse than biggie was. really, watch him in isolation on coverage plays. He never gets to the right depth or spot.

Also, JJones isn't some rookie. This is his 4th season, he's played 36 games in the cfl and started 18. Tony jones is 2 years older, been in the league 1 year longer, played 34 games and started 17.

So both are just average really. Ppl talking about D changes when the D isn’t the problem will never end will it? I feel some of you think you can dress unlimited Americans on the roster when you know you can’t. Would I do jones for Jones? Prob not. I’d do j jones for Wilson tho. Get him off. Tony is around the ball atleast most plays. Kyrie is not. I’ll bet Jon jones is ok sitting and getting paid tho.

Nye is a hack. They need to hire somebody else. Pretty sure there is a 2nd grader somewhere who could fill his shoes.

it's funny to laugh at how ridiculous his write up is... but it is pretty embarrassing that he is writing this for a national website... which happens to be the official page of the league... if he was writing this on a Saskatchewan site, there would be no issues with his homerism...

Also says the Bombers didn't play Rourke. And never mentions they beat Rourke with their backup QB streveler.

The guy is one of the biggest homers in the "professional" media. I get being a bit of a homer....but at least be correct in your articles.

YOU OF all people who diss people on their views as saying its their personal opinion...and then you go say that statement??....wow....And J.Jones has already been successful in the league for several yrs....Earned his chops in 2022...had great season in 2023...got hurt part way in season in 2024...and was a ratio victim when Judge was signed...nice special teams tackles...7 sacks one yr...2 time grey cup champ...3 yrs younger...better measurables....better tackler....just better

yeah.....As soon as T.Jones was signed to a 2 yr deal...he was a lock...we couldhave had James West and Ty Jones clones in camp....and both would have took a back seat in Oshland

T.Jones is average....J.Jones is not....and not **** you can have only so many Americans...tell us something we dont know...Wilson offers more than T.Jones if he can stay healthy...Prob more than J.Jones too but there's that big if...If one could be removed to give us our best 3 outta Wilson..Ayer..T.Jones and J.Jones it's T .Jones

And he was invisible last game, and yeah at times he may seem to "be around the ball" in what context tho.?..its after yards are gained...in help clean up mode...or when teams went after him....he is lost in space...and doesnt range well lateral to attack and shut down a play for a loss or minimal yards...

All the grief Wilson gets in the first 2 games he has been the best linebacker....and offensive schemes against us have been away from him...T.Jones got a buttload of tackles the one game....but there was a reason he did too.....

He'd pick the Bombers to lose on their bye week.

riders have played basically a list of nobodies...and as usual....will hit their skid and swoon and lose 4..5..6 in a row again when they play legit teams after the 1st 3rd of season when everyone is dialed in....you can bank on that

Hey man because of this current streak, Rider Nation are still planning the Grey Cup parade around the sewage treatment plant/waterslide park. Let the baby have its bottle for a few more weeks....lol...

If you look at things on the surface, it might seem that way. But when you delve a little bit into it, without even watching tape, you see the difference. That being, JJones was playing at an all-star caliber in 23, splitting reps with Wynton McManis. That's when he started 8 games, put up 49 tackles, 13 teams tackles, 7 sacks, and a pick. The injury derailed him the following year. Conversely, Tony Jones was an on-again, off-again teams guy who rotated a bit on bad defences and got a shot here when Biggie went down.

The difference in play is night and day. Tony is very good at scraping to the ball and making tackles in the box. He's not good at coverage. Jonathon Jones is good at scraping to the ball, has exceptional range, and is as effective pass rushing as dropping back in cover.

Best roster usage for today would be Tony plays Mac in running downs, Jonathon plays Wil. On passing downs, we sub Griffin for Tony, and slide Jonathon into the middle. Building a better team going forward would probably mean Ayers gets snaps over Jones. I don't think Ayers is far behind Jones currently, tbh. I wouldn't expect him to be as reliable immediately, but I also don't think he can progress just by covering kicks.

Jonathon Jones is our best Lber. Kyrie is our worst. Tony is situational.

Again, our league is in trouble if in a nine team league three teams are already less than average. Man we need an infusion of something quick.

What's this new commish's plan in getting this league better?

this is the time of year and games where we "should" be trying some thigs...moving some pieces....seeing best fit and our best roster...not the status quo stand pat becai=use we won....or because a guy has been here years...or what Osh had said earlier "you look at old film and see what he can do" as thats not a good way of evaluation...looking backwards

Ayers is both quick and fast plus he reads plays very well. We are gonna need that to contain Ford on Thursday.

Yeah, I think we should be looking to work 1 guy a week in for development. That way we don't get shocked by required change when injuries happen, or from too much change up front. Jones for Kyrie if the biggest one needed imo.

He is, and he would be great at that. While still giving us the ability to cover a zone and not just have to hug the line.

Anyone know how many defensive snaps Ayer’s has had this season?  I’m not sure there are any sites that track that….

@DTonOB is probably the best bet for that kind of info.

Yep, he's the only one who is doing the tracking that fans get access to.

I've seen him on the short-yardage defense set at end, but haven't seen him sub in for regular defensive reps yet.

Was it Ayers who got called in the Grey Cup on that fumble recovery where we ended up having to give the ball back to Toronto?  If so, I'm still mad at him about that one....argh...
