If the apocryphal story about Walters having to come down and order O'Shea to bench  the obviously struggling Nichols and put Collaros in is true, it says something very concerning about O'Shea's judgement and seems to foreshadow many of the decisions that have concerned most in this forum since then. O'Shea does many things well, but this foible is a deal-breaker in my opinion. In my career, I assessed people and there is a rule: the best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour. O'Shea is at the age where his personality structure is set, and he is unlikely to change how he operates.

WTF are you talking about?  Nichols was knocked out of that season months before they traded for Collaros.  Collaros was here for a week before he started the second game he was here for.

This whole manufacturing of narratives to be over the top negative has to stop.  I know our fanbase can't handle winning.

Was Vanterpool not touted as an eventual replacement for Big Stan? And that day seems to be not all that far away, judging from yesterday's game.

I think long term vanterpool would be better at rt and Randolph at LT. But yeah, he’s been a project to convert to tackle. Randolph played basically tackle as the 6th ol in college a lot.
Vanterpool was a career guard. Didn’t give up a sack for like a year and a half, didn’t take a penalty in his last year. Pretty wild.
Vanterpool is still naturally a guard but has the mobility to end up a rt. And he’s very good in pass protection at guard.

I thought Masoli looked healthy and he was able to throw deep with no issues despite being in his 30's.    Guys like Burris and Calvillo were able to toss bombs with no issues when they were old.   Zach never had great arm strength and it's definitely looking diminished over the last two seasons.  So those deep balls are really sketchy unless he has room to throw into it.

It would be disappointing if a 350 lb guard like Wallace turned out to be useless.... that would be a killer but so far so good. He's a keeper. Line up the Brinks truck, Walters to pay the guy next season. You can't let this guy walk.

Yup...he also seeks and destroys in second level...Dobson was lost

Bryant wasn't bad at all..sure he had a couple moments but that will happen...especially when the guard is compensating for a center...it radiates out...if say a guard had cheated over and isn't where the tackle expected him to be and looks to have been beaten inside expecting help from guard...well it looks bad for tackle but not necessarily so

I think he meant Nichols for Willy and that's accurate.

Osh gets too attached to certain guys...like a bad stock trader...don't fall in love with a stock and know when to sell...osh needs to do that with players

And I truly don't think he is the best evaluator of talent sometimes...values some characteristics at times over talent or usefulness

I’d argue Zach has more wear on him than those guys. But he’s also had more career   Collapses and come backs than all those guys combined.
I’m certain he has some throwing arm/hand stuff that isn’t healing.

Zach had a great arm at his best. He was really reliant on his zip and ability to drop a rainbow over the defence to compensate for his struggles to run the short passing game.
He hit incredible windows in the past with great frequency. He wasn’t bishop flicking his wrists from his knees and sending it 70 yards down field, but his arm was damn good. Khari was similar, but he lost the touch on the ball, and he could always hit the short game.

Either zach is rusty and still adjusting, or he’s gonna need to completely revamp his game to be more of a cerebral field general.

The motion we use with our lineman now also seemed to mess him up...he was seeing ghosts i think...Strev didnt have issue with that

I think Masoli completed 2 passes over 20 yard throws in the air.

He looked ******* brutal.  If there was a white jersey in his sight he just tossed the ball up for grabs.

Bombers easily could have had 7-8 INTs in that game.

Zach is like an old race horse. He can still give er (we hope) but he’s easily spooked.  I wonder if that’s why we stopped the jet motion last year.  Zach doesn’t like the pocket to move.

Appears that way...don't like change...old man syndrome hahaha

I hope each game Strev gets some series and or extended reps after short yardage...I think we gonna need him...and need him sharp

Edited by Booch

We should also use Wilson in short yardage - and use the strev package at least once a game.

Everything you guys say Osh does, you appear to do the same thing. It’s pretty wild the narrative you constantly push when it appears you and Osh are similar actually. You have your guys who you think are all stars in the making and Osh has his guys who he thinks are. It’s actually just so repetitive at times it’s insane. Not talking you specifically here but making up **** now is just another level. @Tracker wtf dude seriously. ******* Fox News junkie much?

What did I make up? And yes Osh was "influenced" to sit Willy and go with Nichols...if that's what you referring to

I don't think Osh evaluates everything he should at times with some players...what he values sometimes doesn't make the player better...with the majority of the gripes I have it's all about skill...skillset...upside..and actual ability...there are currently probably 5 spots i can think of on this roster where we could be so much better and it's with guys in house...but we don't get to see it..and prob 2 or 3 holdovers we could have got rid of and been no worse for wear and likely better and have possible upside too....but around here in a lot of instances...membership has it's privileges...so to say

Correct- had a brain cramp but meant Drew Willy.

I keep forgetting to mention this .. has anyone else noticed Dusty Nielsen pronouncing our returners last name as "Vah-Ool" for some reason? For th Blige of me I don't know where he's getting that from....

He did that last week too.  I had to go looking for video for Valal in college to see how it was being pronounced (Vah-lull seemed to be most common) so no idea where Nielsen got it from.

That doesn't seem right either... Isn't it Vaval (not Valul)....so VAH-vull. Which is how DT says it...

*Edit*

Double checked the roster.... Vaval... VAH-vull....

Edited by Noeller

If not for that late TD, which made this game look closer than it was, we’re talking about a three score win. If BO gets back and our ratio allows for the same line as game one, Zach will be more than good enough. Plus we’re playing the Elks this week so there’s that as well 👍🏻

Yeah typo on my part.  Vah-vull is how I heard it, not Vah-lull.

It seemed like both Nielsen and Glen were exceptionally bad last night. Suitor multiple times obviously. The one that stuck out was saying if Shehans punt went out of bounds it would be a penalty....even though it bounced half a dozen times before he mentioned that. And Nielsen talking how because the onside kick was touched by schoen it was now a "live ball".

It felt like I was saying, wtf are you talking about? Way too many times while listening to those two.

Yep, pretty interesting story behind the meaning of his surname too.

Snafu. It’d be funny if it wasn’t soo damn sad for the league.

I didn't say he played well,  I said he looked healthy.    Some folks on here made it out that he was playing like a crippled person with a cane in week 1.   He was mobile and he had no issues throwing the ball quickly.     Physically he looked decent to me.

Massoli really isn't anywhere near the qb he used to be. Age & injuries have really caught up to him. I'm surprised BC signed him. Their backup spot now with him is just a waste.

yeah Masoli looked capable and not like he needed a walker....
