He didn’t exactly jump off the page to me in the preseason games and he’s in one of the easiest positions to do that even with poor camera angles. He has a bit of an advantage to stick around being Global but maybe he’s not very useful on special teams either. Maybe he’s Big Sky’s Faith Ekakitie. I'd love to see Bailey get some development time, but I really don't see the big deal if we go Weitz over him. Anyone saying that one has more value than the other to our roster isn't really basing that on anything other than opinion. We haven't seen either play enough to know.

Bailey could actually hold up while taking rotational snaps (and the live reps would do him a world of good development wise). Weitz on the other hand will never see a defensive snap and if he does, something has gone HORRIBLY HORRIBLY wrong. rebusrankin and Booch 1 1
Goalie Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Are ppl pushing for Bailey cuz they been going to practices and he’s standing out or is it cuz hey ncaa cuz right now, Bailey and Weitz are pretty much the same. They both have done nothing. Always something. Bailey would get as many reps as Ayers got last week on the DL. A team that values sp teams takes the better sp teams player, I mean if this is based on college here cuz that’s pretty much all you have to go on. Weitz was the better teams player. Plus talking about the D when the D isn’t a problem very often if ever is just it’s interesting but insane. Edited 4 hours ago by Goalie

From watching him and seeing he has technique...He had speed off the edge but for a rangy guy has a lot of power to move a tackle...He also contained well and came don nicely on runs....he needs play time to develop \Weitz has nothing that a kid straight outta college cant offer...and we have that already in Novack...Bailey played teams in pre-season and did just fine...has a motor that never stops D is a problem if one of...god save us both of WJ or Vaughters goes down as we then have no real ends....even if they don't we have no pure edge guy to back them up which in itself is dumb...Sure Adams can do it...but he better inside...and him inside makes life easier for our ends Weitz wasnt on roster last game...we didnt miss him one bit....sure he won't be a real noticeable guy this week either...we have a glut of ST guys as it is...not enough step in and take reps guys tho on defence Ayers didnt get reps on dline cause...well cause he is not a dline guy...nor has he ever been trained to be one...thats why. People have to stop thinking of Bailey as this run of the mill Global...cause he is not Edited 4 hours ago by Booch BigBlueFanatic 1
rebusrankin Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago I thought in the second game Bailey looked good. Recall at least one play where he caused a lot of pressure leading to a sack by another Bomber player. Do I have a huge number of reference points? No but more than Weitz. Off topic but did either Shay or J.Smith get any reps on D?

He had several nice plays....also some good work away from the play causing others to eat We saw Weitz last yr...and what he has to offer....time to move onward and upward

Back to back pressures one with power one with speed that really impressed. rebusrankin, BigBlueFanatic and Booch 2 1

Jets Posted 20 minutes ago Report Posted 20 minutes ago 7 hours ago, JuranBoldenRules said: Here’s what I don’t like: OL is 70 snaps a game and literally the heartbeat of your team, protecting the most precious assets of your team and creating your ability to score points. Special teams…I’ll never discount the importance…but 15 plays a game and really we have the bodies to have a solid unit without Ayers. Nuts to me to change the OL from last week. They dominated that game and Vanterpool specifically. Peterson had almost no yards after contact and ran for 130. BO had another 50. That’s the kind of decision that could easily lose you a game. I don't disagree one bit. BUT this is only logical when you consider a standard football team roster makeup. Most of the time you dress your starting offense, starting defense and then your best subs for each who also fill special teams. In O'Shea's world, there are 3 equal units. In his mind, he dresses his best Offense, his best Defense and his best "Special Teams" (5-8 guys that he thinks are best at teams only) and then fills the rest of the chart with whatever to make as balanced a roster as he can. This is why you see stupid things like 15 linebackers dressed and 3 Canadian DTs as the only backup DL. In O'Shea's mind he actually has 3-4 LBs, 5 STs "Starters" and then a couple backup DL to fit with the ratio after all 3 of his other units are said and done. I don't agree with it, and its usually suboptimal for rotating guys on offense or defense, but O'Shea has alluded to this and if you look at it through that lens, it explains his decision making with some of the puzzling roster moves.
