If you look back, they used to make more changes to the line up. It has become more stagnant in recent years.

It's true, he would try out more guys mid-season, was more willing to give up on favorites who didn't perform, and he didn't just tie canadians down to STs roles.

I'd add as well that he used to coach to win, would whip out a few smart trick plays through out the year, and would challenge more. Even if the challenge was to back up a player, or to make the refs look at a problematic area they weren't calling, even if it wouldn't be over turned. At each step, success has made him softer.

When would he normally be able to negotiate with the Argos? On Monday?

Not 100% on the rules but Naylor said on TSN on Saturday "One team can't officially ask for permission until one week after the other team has been eliminated".

But O'Shea isn't under contract for 2026 is he? So presumably when the league year ends he would be a free agent

That seems right... So that would be another week from today. So if they wanted to talk to him THIS week, they needed to ask permission... Or else wait until next week.

But let's be honest... Rules or no, O'Shea and Pinball are old friends who both are likely to be hanging out this week during GC week. Conversations are going to happen, regardless. But Pinball being Pinball, is going to take the high road and keep up appearances...

For a lateral job, when his contract expires at the end of this year. Otherwise, they have to get permission like this.

I know I am speculating but if MOS leaves, who do you think they hire? Personally, I worry they hire a retread.

I worry about that too.

In-house, I think Hall or maybe they give the push to JY. But I don't really think either happens. Small chance at Walters taking over both jobs, with someone like Brock taking a larger role in the front office to support him. Jackson would be a candidate in theory, but Idk how you pass him for OC last year then make him HC this year.

From outside, not a rehash I think we'd look at Archambault, Monsoon, probably talk to Maksymic / Mike miller since we did consider them for OC last year.

A sleeper target, who is kind of a rehash, is Pete Costanza. Very good WR/RB coach and pass game coach for Toronto recently. I think he is a better candidate to jump to OC, but we might have to make a bigger jump than that, sadly.

They could go full-on crazy and offer Milanovich the HC/GM role he is fishing for.

Sounds like the contract only expires on the last calendar day of the year. But I imagine the coaching world has essentially a tampering period like free agency.

He’s gone imo. Pinball will offer him the world and likely make him assistant GM. And im actually more than ok with it. Coaches have a shelf life. The team has gotten old and stale. Ive grown beyond tired of his arrogant smugness. Ive pretty much hated his brain dead gameday rosters/player usage and his in-game decision making for years now. Time for a change/new blood.

Already have according to Naylor.

I think the fact that he is taking the request from Toronto does indicate he is heavily considering it. I wouldn't make that choice if I were him. But I am pretty far removed from his way of thinking.

I agree, we need a big shake-up.

I still think it's harder to replace the HC than the GM in the CFL today. But pound for pound I believe Walters has done a much better job. His primary problems have been giving in too much to the coaching staff and not being the boss enough.

Fyp.

He's never taken an interview while here before, and Pinball has hired a couple of coaches in that time. Also, just giving pinball lip service wouldn't do anything positive for him.

I think both parties are serious, and we probably have a better chance than not of him taking it.

If MOS goes to TO, does he take Hogan with him? Hearing that MOS was the one who really pushed for him to be OC, other front office guys wanted someone else.....

I don't know how you don't give Younger serious consideration. Has had a top defense for as long as he's been a DC. And done it with some questionable talent choices. Guys seem to really like him too. Younger at HC/DC, Jackson as OC. I'd be ok with that.

I read somewhere that his contract ends Dec.31

Oh lord I just realized Dyce is available...

What about Marc Trestman? Chris Jones? Maybe CRAIG Dickenson?

On a serious note, Khari Jones might be a fun candidate

Osh has his faults but there is not an available candidate I would take over him. Any fan of this team knows how hard it is to find a good head coach.

I would I guess go with Jordan Younger. He has adapted to different personnel and certainly has gathered respect around the league.
