I hope it's nice. I'm getting a nice treat that game. Was nominated for coach of the week. My club (Rods) get $500 donation and I'm getting a $100 GC to the Bomber store and get to go on the field for

BC at zero suggests the dome plays a role. Winnipeg at 21 suggests we play outside more but also like to not start with the ball ever cuz every other team plays outside like us minus BC.

Not really.  Argos/Stamps at only 2 & Als/Redblacks at 3 would suggest it's not dome related, and more about strategy.

It's a bit surprising when you consider we had Janarion Grant as a returner for most of that time period - you would think they'd want one of the best returners in the league doing his thing as much as possible.

Apparently they wouldn't be. Heard that the Bombers would still get their dressing room.

It's possible (there are 4 locker rooms at PAS) so the Western team could be placed in the Bisons locker room rather than the visitors room.

For a stadium that does not have that option, the CFL policy says that the Bombers would probably have to move.  FAQ about The League on CFLdb

The home team for the Grey Cup game is determined by the division of the host (archive of original source for those without access). When a Western Division city hosts the game, the Western Champion is the home team, when an Eastern Division city hosts the game, the Eastern Champion is the home team. This provides for who is the home and away for any regulations that specify the home or visiting team and for things like dressing rooms, etc. This practice began in 2007.

For a team that relied on grinding out wins, especially late in the game ensuring you have the wind in the long quarter isn't always a bad thing.

I need context for this....

Doug doesn't like kicking off in both halves and said so during the Edmonton game and in the post-game show. O'Shea very clearly believes that kicking off twice is okay if he gets the wind in the long quarters. So, I was curious to find how many times each team had kicked off twice (as a proxy for 'taking the wind in the 4th').

Yea....you looked it up and proved that MOS is onto something. Sitting back without context it appears to be a bad decision in theory. In actual practice you can't argue the results. Not just from the MOS led Bombers but overall.

Yep. There are a lot of things we can question MOS about but this isn't one of them imo. I'll take wind in the 4th over first possession of the half 9/10 times. It's the smart play imo.

Bud Grant who was a very successful coach, said about the wind...'you take it from the get go if you have that option....His theory was that the wind is very unpredictable, and you take it when it's blowing at the beginning of a game...He thought the wind could switch around or quit altogether thus losing your advantage....Knowing the unpredictability of mother nature I could see his take and it worked for him

Bud Grant certainly had a strong point back in the day of weather balloons and getting your weather information based on 24 hour old information through the CBC. Nowadays we have up to the minute forecasting available on the internet. Not the same thing. If the wind is likely to die off during the game, our coaches know it before the coin flip.

Also when they play at home, PAS has a sunken bowl design which (theoretically) should help mitigate wind conditions.  I've often noticed the flags over the concourse blowing in the wind but the flags on the goal posts are hanging limp so it seems to work, at least to a certain extent.

Yea, we really do have a pretty nicely designed stadium for sure.

Now IF we could predict the storm ferocity, when those pesky lightning and rain deluges occur mid summer, that can delay the game for hours on end, we'd have something....Mother nature still has the upper hand I'm afraid ....wind, rain and otherwise still very unpredictable

0-3 vs Calgary and very nearly 0-3 vs Sask. I'd much rather go through the east.

And get absolutely stomped by Davis Alexander in the first game. Meh. I'd be just fine going through the West.

Meh, he's banged up again and due for some win regression.

Only thing I know about the playoffs is that if Montreal doesn't leapfrog the Ticats and BC slides into the crossover spot, the Lions / Als ESF is gonna be an absolute slobberknocker.

They are usually well known. It's just you don't cancel a game on spec and always hope the storm will miss. I was a season ticket holder for a long time and when the forecast said T-storms, there were almost always T-Storms, but games are not cancelled until the storm actually hits.

I agree, plus he has never played a playoff game. I'll take a newb QB to the playoffs over anyone with experience. It's a different animal in the playoffs.

Word of the day right there.

Slobberknocker

Yip...he will look like Rourke did in my opinion

Alexander is still essentially a rookie..he has a ways to go yet but he will be good at end of the day

After the way Arbuckle had his way with us last year in the playoffs I’m not relying on the other teams bad QB for the win anymore.

And the previous year, when Faj was supposed to hand us the game.

or when mbt tried to hand us one and we got whipped by a rookie off the bench.

I don’t look at at of the qbs and see a clear tier 1 mop that you should be scared of. but I also don’t see us making it hard for any qb to succeed.
