Last time we had a streak like this was in 1972. The CFL had 16 regular season games back then. The Bombers sold out 7 of their 8 regular season home games. Capacity at Winnipeg Stadium as it was called back then was 25,210. The only game that wasn't sold out was the Montreal Alouettes on a cold & very rainy (mixed with snow) late September eveningt when 22,000 fans showed up for the game. Including Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau who was in Winnipeg to meet with Premier Ed Schreyer. Edited Saturday at 10:54 AM by SpeedFlex27 JohnnyAbonny, rebusrankin and wbbfan 1 2

SpeedFlex27 Posted Saturday at 09:19 PM Report Posted Saturday at 09:19 PM (edited) I know we're a bit off topic here but the Bombers had a true hero play for them in the 1930's. His name was Jeff Nicklin. He was from Fort William, Ontario but moved to Winnipeg. He grew up in Lord Roberts & lived on Rathgar Avenue. He got married at St. Albans Anglican Church in Lord Roberts. He enlisted in the Army in 1940 & trained to be a paratrooper. I grew up on the other side of Osborne Street in Riverview so I'm proud knowing that Nicklin who heroically sacrificed everything for this country lived in the same area where I grew up. The Jeff Nicklin Trophy is given to the Western Division's MOP. Last year, Brady Oliveira won it. If you don't know who Jeff Nicklin was then please read this. https://westenddumplings.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-greatest-blue-bomber-youve-never.html Edited Saturday at 09:24 PM by SpeedFlex27 JohnnyAbonny, Booch and rebusrankin 3

Since Ben Hatskin was playing for the Bombers at that time if Vince Leah didn't exist, Benny probably have started the tradition of New York team names back in the 30's instead of waiting to name the hockey team "Jets" in 1967- we'd be the Winnipeg Blue Yankees or Winnipeg Giant Dodgers lol.... Thought the Jets were named in reference to the RCAF base in St. James?

I kind of like the ring of giant dodgers… it’d be great for a basketball team. 1 hour ago, kelownabomberfan said: I thought it was due to the popularity of the New York Jets at that time due to Joe Namath. I believe officially it was a combination of honouring the rcaf, Winnipeg’s aviation history, and the ny jets. Tracker 1

No, Ben Hatskin & Sonny Werblin, the owner of the New York Jets were business acqaintances & friends. When he secured a team in the Westrn canada Hockey League, he named the team the Jets in honour of Werblin's AFL team. When he later sold the Junior Jets, he bought into the WHA with a franchise in 1971 & called them the Jets as well. Again, to honour Werblin. Just an aside but in the 1950's my dad knew Ben Hatskin as well through business. Both men raced cars. My dad owned an Auto Body shop on Marion Street right beside the Norwood Hotel. It was there for 36 years from 1946-82. My father built a race car. Hatskin also owned a car as well & they raced against one another. Both my dad & Hatskin hired professional drivers to race their cars. coach17 and Fatty Liver 2
