The RIP 2023 Thread

I was sitting in my surgeon's office this morning regarding my upcoming knee replacement on April 19th & I saw a tweet about Bruce Willis passing away. I checked some internet news sources & couldn't find a thing. I guess he hasn't passed away (which is good) but he's in pretty rough shape with Aphasia & Alzheimer's. Poor guy. He's the same age as I am. His birthday is coming up on March 19th.

Bruce Willis is lost in dementia. He is body may continue  to function for years, but his persona is dormant.

did you fall for one of those fake RIP bots? (it's usually him or Sylvester Stallone, or Jaden Smith or the biebs) they're all over facebook groups that aren't set to private

Nah, didn't fall for it. I went to check new sources & no one was reporting it so I figured it was fake.

A really rough way to die- with brain cancer, analgesics are very limited in the relief they offer.

If I make it to 102 I will genuinely be accepting of the rare blessings that allow human beings to live this long.

For me it comes down to quality of life. Spending days in a diaper sitting in a wheelchair while drooling and unresponsive is not living, it is just existing.

Yah, far better to check out before that stage sets in.  Got to have an exit plan and be capable of executing it while you still can, unfortunately it's usually the family that prolongs life well beyond it's rational expiration date.  It's a bit insane.

That's why there are "final care directives".
