He obviously was. He just wasn't on the list that some media guys thought existed

I'd forgotten about Bowness and I guess he'd said he was leaning toward retirement, but IMO this was the best option still available....

Wheeler and Dubois trades are 1 and 2 

Likely Mitchell Clinton or Sean Reynolds from Sportsnet tho. Maybe Leah too.

I wonder if 1 of the assistants is Brock Sheahan with the Chicago Steel of the ushl. Was linked to be part of Trotzs staff also  

Bowness Sheahan Arniel Flaherty is decent. Add a woman tho to the staff 

Kori Cheverie looks like a good option.  She's solid

Yup.  Bowness also coached Jets 1.0 too.  Bowness also took the stars to the Stanley Cup Final in the bubble year.

He certainly is not a long term replacement at age 67. Maybe Trotz talked to them about needing a year off to re-charge (he still will get paid by the Isles for another season) so Bowness is a filler until Trotz decides to come back or Arniel gets promoted in a year or two. 

The only positive i can spin is that of all the coaches who coached a team most like the Jets, it's Bowness. Dallas was good Winnipeg.

Should be an interesting few months ahead.

So they signed the left over scraps. Old and not a great track record.

I'm guessing they are planning to gut the team and acquire early draft picks for a full rebuild?

Yes complain. It's what ppl do always. Doesn't matter who they would have hired besides trotz, ppl would still complain. I've recently deleted my hfboards account cuz it's constant crap from the same people. The negativity is so beyond tiring

Looks like the streak stays alive! The Jets just don't hire bald guys as head coach

Defensive minded coach is what we need,help take so many shots off Hellebyck but I've heard many Dallas fans say his offensive game is dump and chase. I don't mind this signing and it's even better if Reynolds is right and this is just kind of a bridge coach.

it aint football.   When I see hockey coaches huddling over the ipad during a game....

I chuckle. " see this mcdavid guy? hes really fast. watch out for him."

I suspect the quality needed, is the ability to get the players to do what they are asked.
