No CFL contract is guaranteed so if the Lions want salary cap relief & to start from scratch next season that might be what I'd do. A total rebuild. Does it make financial sense paying him $750,000 a season & still lose? Plus he'll be 34 soon. He's 3 or 4 years past any upside. Do you jettison a bunch of underperforming vets with big contracts & keep him? Or should he be the first to go & try to recruit someone younger & cheaper? That'll be one of the many dilemmas the Lions will have to sort out. ***Just an aside but I believe Nick Arbuckle may be a free agent next season. I'm sure he got a big portion of his salary as bonus money up front so there's little SMS gain for BC. I can't see any other team trading for Reilly.
