Lions @ Eskimos

Will this be another 40-point range shootout tonight like last night?  Could have the makings of it unless Claybrooks tightens the screws on Harris.

What I need tonight is ...

A Lions win to get back in the leader board in pickems and ...

Kenny Stafford to score a TD for Edmonton to keep me from getting 2 strikes in the Lock of the Week contest

  • You guys focus way too much on points. What really matters is which QB will throw for 300+ yards, that’s how wins are determined, dontcha know?

Guys, give Noeller a break. Its hard work telling kids to get off your lawn and pull up their pants.

BC is a very poorly coached football team, and easily rattled as a whole. No depth at any particular position, a weak o-line, awful play calling. When your starting running back has 12 carries combine

I feel like this one is going to be a high scoring, back-and-forth, affair.

So, it will likely be won by the Esks 25-15, with few, if any, lead changes.

34-30 Eskimos

Is JSK back yet?

Edit: Nope. WTF injury did he get last year? Must have been soft tissue

I think this one is almost too close to call, but I'm going with the Esks. Harris is pretty good as a QB, and Maas is a better coach. We saw an example of how good coaching can sway a game last night, but it may be another horrible but entertaining game. I wouldn't want to be Reilly tonight- he is gonna get pounded.

I went with the Esks. Mostly because I thought we handled BC pretty easily last week despite the score being somewhat close. Edmonton seems pretty good too and they're at home.  Should be close though.

I feel like its a shootout with BC winning on a last second MR drive. Now watch it be a 9-6 game.

I think Esks win this one. BC looked pretty mediocre last week. Reilly-to-Burnham will be deadly all year but that's all they got.

Going into tonight’s game:

The Lions Mike Reilly returns to Edmonton where he was #1 QB for 6 seasons and 94 starts in 108 Edmonton games. He missed only one start in the last 3 years and overall for the Eskimos led them to a 53-41 record as a starter.

1st Quarter Leads No Guarantee:

Last week, the four Clubs that led after the 1st Quarter ALL lost their game. The four winning teams overcame deficits of 3, 4, 5 and 12 points (Ottawa at Calgary) to win. Last year, teams that trailed after 15:00 were just 20-53 and over the last two years just 39-103 .275.

Other Notes:

- The Lions led 23-21 over Winnipeg last week after a Mike Reilly TD pass to Lemar Durant 4:10 into the 3rd Quarter. On their 1-point convert attempt, Marcus Sayles blocked the kick which Brandon Alexander and ex-Lion Chandler Fenner combined to return 80 yards for a 2-point score. The Lions did not score after that as Winnipeg built 12-0 run to win on the road by 10 points (33-23).

- Last week, the Eskimos led the CFL with 607 yards of Net Offence, the most by any CFL team since October 5, 2013 by Calgary (622). It was the most by Edmonton since they had 635 on August 7, 1997 vs Winnipeg.

- Trevor Harris recorded his 4th career 400+ yard game (447) to lead all CFL QBs in Week #1 passing. Harris was a perfect 14-of-14 on short yardage throws and on 20+ yard attempts was 6-of-8 for 172 yards and 2 TDs.

- Brandon Rutley led the CFL last week with 226 kickoff return yards; that ranks #7 all-time in CFL history (CFL record: 257).

- Mike Reilly passed for 324 yards recording his first 300+ game as a BC Lion (3rd start) and 43rd of his career.

- The Eskimos led the CFL with 607 yards of Net Offence, the most by any CFL team since October 5, 2013 by Calgary (622).

- The Esks were incredibly consistent on Offence last week with just ONE 2-&-OUT all game and 8 drives with multiple 1st downs. - C.J. Gable led all CFL rushers last week with 154 yards – his 10th career 100+ yard rushing effort.

- The Lions were held to just 4 rushing yards last week, tying their lowest total in club history set in 1981 (Sep 27/81 at Wpg). - BC passed on all 13 offensive plays in the 4th Quarter last week and overall ran just 4 times in their 44 play calls.

- Bryan Burnham had 153 receiving yards, the 2nd highest single-game total of his CFL career and 12th career 100+ yard game. - Ricky Collins led all CFL receivers last week with a career-high 175 yards, his 4th career 100+ yard game.

- Edmonton built a 17-point lead last week but needed a 4th Q, 70-yard game winning drive to pull out their win over Montreal. - The Eskimos and Montreal ranked #1-2 in MOST penalties drawn last week and combined for 26 flags incl. 8 Roughness calls. - 2nd Down Conversions: BC was 9-of-17 but just 1 chance in short yards. Edmonton was 8-of-8 in 2&3 or less and 17-of-27.

- The Lions’ best field position start last week was only at their own 45-yard line and at their 27 yard line on average.

- Edmonton also had poor field position starts last week averaging at their own 26 yard line.

So they broke the bank on Duron for nothing you're saying?

I think the lions will end up being pretty good this year... not a juggernaut, but I could see them winning 10 or 11 games and competing for a home playoff game... once they get their offense clicking they can outscore a lot of teams...

I don’t know Mr Reilly, I can’t get used to that look..

In the pre-game, Milt refers to “Duran, the chicken, sorry.”. Cox then does the wing thing. Hilarious.

Anyone have a clue how much Stegall and Dunigan get paid to be TSN analysts?

B.C. wins

why is that not a penalth grabbed riley by the hat

Reilly might be trying a little too hard, he could have been seriously hurt landing on his head like that

BC centre is pretty erratic with his snaps.

he looks like he's already gassed.

I was kind of wondering if he shouldn't have been made to come out for a play to get checked for a concussion.  Dangerous stuff there.

Plus, the way the Esks are coming for him tonight, that won't be the only one.

Man, I know T. Harris can be wildly inconsistent at times, but damn, being a bigger stinko than Fajardo thus far tonight.
