Okay, so the off season officially begins now that the Grey Cup is over. Lots of topics for discussion in the months to come with the Bombers & the League. A new CBA needs to be negotiated sooner rather than later.  Will there be an eventual agreement or a lockout? How much will the salary cap go up? Randy Ambrosie is on record that wants the cap to significantly go up so that is a positive.  Will Bo Levi Mitchell sign with an NFL or perhaps another CFL team? What about Mike Reilly & Trevor Harris who are also free agents? There's a new start up league called the  AAFL & there are legit concerns that it'll draw star CFL players away or hamper free agent signings with CFL teams. Coaching changes in BC & Toronto. The continuing evolving story of the expansion Halifax Schooners & possible exhibition games in Mexico.

well hopefully him and Reilly...and Harris for that matter have a bunch of teams competing to try and land them and drive up their value...be nothing better than having 3 teams slitting their SMS throats by paying 600 to 700k for a QB...and thats just the starter where we are most likely paying maybe 625k or so for all 3 of ours.

that will be like a quarter of million bucks available to sign other areas of needs that they wont have compared to teams set at that spot right now...should be interesting

And then, and then... picking up the players that are cap casualties for cut rates when those teams need to make room for those giant contracts. 

Bo Levi is only going to Calgary and maybe Edmonton/BC... no way he goes to Riderville.

You can sleep well at night knowing fat Matt will be sucking up about 450 next year. 600 for Mitchell or Reilly would be a dream come true.

Nichols may not be Bo-Levi but he is at least adequate and very good when he is on his game. Succession planning is critical and if the Rider faithful are expecting Mitchell to land in Regina, they are delusional. And $600k total for Collaros and Bridge???? No wonder Chris Jones wanted out of  Pile O Bones so badly with that kind of GM acumen.

Eventually that would affect us though. The new normal may be $725,000 for an elite qb. It would also drive up the salaries of every other position as well. This tells me that the cap will be going up.

I don't expect Mitchell to end up in Regina. he likely goes back to Calgary.  But "At least adequate" sounds like a scary endorsement by you on Nichols. Personally I want more than that for the Riders.
