Canadian Politics

I didn't think we had a thread for this.

Is Trudeau this out of touch or does he just not care?

The holocaust comparisons have me legit sick to my stomach. There is not one thing in Canada going on right now that compares to the start of the holocaust. No red flags. Not a one. They built the f

Well, well, well. If that doesn't torpedo Smith's electoral chances, Alberta might as well invite Trump and the GOP to help them run the province.

It won't... Not even close. What I've recently discovered is that the true blue cons in this province don't believe any of these accusations are real. "She doesn't actually mean it" and "it's all a desperate smear campaign by the socialist NDP/Liberal coalition" are things I heard yesterday from someone who has always and will always vote Con in AB. Those people will make sure DS gets elected.

Sadly you're right, the conversation among the hardcore Freedum riders rarely goes beyond hate, catch phrases, and fear mongering, there is no depth.  This is not a group of people that normally follow news, politics, or world events, this is a congregation of individuals that sat at the back of the class and never once put up their hand to ask a question, mostly because they were never actually paying attention to the topic at hand. Unfortunately social media has given them a voice and a sense of community for their stupidity to multiply and double it's volume.

The worst people.

"The Prime Minister is a dictator and starting culture wars" they say. Truly the worst.

Yes. It's called conservatism. How any rational person equate a revised passport to genocide is simply embarrassing.

Of course she posts that whiny garbage on Twitter without even the slightest grasp of irony as it relates either the man she's quoting or of the history on this part of the continent since the imperial colonial era. More ghoulish rage-baiting.

Remember: she supported the Kovidiot Klown Konvoy last year. So, this behaviour tracks.

And also works for the party whose supporters are trying to ban books and defund libraries.

Every accusation is a confession.

Leave it to hypocrites to make a passport redesign (which started a decade ago) a somehow partisan issue to further a narrative that only exists in their rotted minds.

This is worth the 10 minute listen.  Jeromy Farkas and I don't agree on anything other than the UCP under Smith is a disaster.  Nenshi is Nenshi - so awesome!

@17to85 and I were saying recently that when Jeromy ******* Farkas is saying your party is crazy, then you REALLY are a mess...... Nenshi and Farkas agreeing on something is absolutely wild, but it took the lunacy of Danielle Smith to bring them together.

Great questions from Nenshi to DS that no one is asking her (I may have not got it exactly the way Nenshi put it):

Q: Did you believe what you said in those videos then and do you believe them now? A: No. Q: Then why did you lie to us? A: Because I changed my mind. Q: Then what made you change your mind?

I would love to see Nenshi as Prime Minister one day.  There is no substitute for his level of intelligence.

He earned a break, for sure, but I really want to see him get back into politics...either Provincially or Federally. Canada (and Alberta, in particular) need him...

couple of good things this morning..first, federally:

then over in Alberta, where the first polling since the election officially began has now been delivered, and has the NDP up by about 10 points. Undecideds are going Orange, and (as Gerry Butts put it) many are "quiet quitting" the UCP:

Well if anything this is proof she agrees that the CND government with the help of Christians committed genocide against the society of people that were here long before them.
