Democrats. Why they lose.  Why they do not  follow through on promises.

"The campaign apparatus representing Washington, D.C.’s most prominent progressive lawmakers on Wednesday spurned Nina Turner, one of the highest-profile progressive candidates in the country.

The group, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC, has painted the decision as a pro forma one. But progressive lawmakers are now intervening in a hotly contested House race to back a corporate-aligned Democrat over a progressive candidate who co-chaired Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign and who the party’s conservative wing set out to destroy last year."

discouraging.

In the US it's all about getting the iffy voters out to vote.

The Republicans in the Trump era are doing that. They are appealing to the far right who want change and it's working.

The Democrats are not appealing to left leaning people who want change. They continue to bend to their financial backers who dont want change. Who dont want ANY shift towards a more socialist system. They aren't getting people who want change out to the poles.

Sometimes I vote for the 3rd party in our system only because it's the 3rd option and it's important to have that.    (When the legit contenders are crap )

Precisely.

Biden just announced more oil drilling permits. Not even a week since the report saying "no more drilling"

I have come to realize that the people who will not be affected, do not actually care.

This is pathological. Instead of going after Big Oil for predatory pricing or encouraging people to drive less or smaller vehicles, this is feeding the problem. Problematic gamblers do not see the gambling as a problem, but see the problem as a lack of money.

Had to look that up... it fits.

Elected office seems to attract that kind of person.

There are those who seek power to do good and make the world a better place, but there are also those who are so psychologically damaged that they seek power to harm others as they have been harmed. "Hurt people hurt people".

Yes but for that to work you have to have a functioning DOJ and Supreme Court. It would seem thus far no matter who you have in those seats in the US it don’t matter. I know you have way for patience and confidence in Garland.  I don’t. Justice is suppose to be swift and blind for all involved.

Garland has not enough for accolades or condemnation, but justice delayed is justice denied.

Pretty sure delaying things is a standard weapon in the criminal defence arsenal.

witnesses leave, or die, , or lose interest and wont testify, memory fades, documents are lost....

So garland is helping trump with his slow pace.

Its not impossible to charge someone without one hundred percent certainty of conviction, and before every single item is lined up. Police routinely "overcharge", charge an offence they cant prove, hoping for a plea bargain for a lesser offence, instead of a not guilty pleas and trial.

trump himself, would probably drag out any criminal case for many years. Standard procedure, specially for him.

Marcy Wheeler empty wheel delves brilliantly  into every tiny shard, to read the tea leaves on this... she is hopeful.

I'm not. I think their entire system is in ruins at this point.

For instance....

they have a credibly accused sexual assaulter, blackout drunk, on the Supreme Court.

counting on that guy for justice is a slender hope.

Birds Aren’t Real': How a mock conspiracy theory caught on with the far right

When Arkansas native turned Memphis resident Peter McIndoe invented the Birds Aren’t Real conspiracy theory in January 2017 — the month of former President Donald Trump’s inauguration — he was making fun of far-right conspiracy theorists. It was an exercise in political satire; McIndoe, now 23, was mocking the type of MAGA Republicans who listen to listen to Alex Jones’ “Infowars” and embrace Pizzagate and other ludicrous conspiracy theories. But Birds Aren’t Real caught on, and according to The Guardian’s Zoe Williams, some conspiracy theorists on the far right actually take it seriously.

Birds Aren’t Real claims that the “Deep State” killed off all of the real birds in the United States and replaced them with drones that are made to look like birds — and the drones are being used to spy on Americans. McIndoe never really believed that, but he found that some far-right conspiracy theorists took him seriously and believed that all the birds flying around were drones.

McIndoe, Williams notes, unveiled his Birds Aren’t Real claims at a rally in Memphis in January 2017.

“Someone was filming him and put it on Facebook,” Williams explains. “It went viral, and Memphis is still the center of the Birds Aren’t Real movement. Or is it a movement? You could call it a situationist spectacle, a piece of rolling performance art or a collective satire. MSNBC called it a ‘mass coping mechanism’ for Generation Z, and as it has hundreds of thousands of followers on social media, ‘mass,’ at least, is on the money.”

The audience for far-right conspiracy theories only grew during Trump’s four years in the White House, from QAnon to the false claim that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump. And according to Williams, Birds Aren’t Real is “the most perfect, playful distillation of where we are in relation to the media landscape we’ve built but can’t control, and which only half of us can find our way around.”

Have to keep them ignorant to keep them voting GOP.

Florida former governor rick scott, owned a health care company, which was convicted of fraud, and was fined.

"The fine clearly set a record, though the Justice Department (and media reports at the time) were not always consistent in their terminology, sometimes describing it as the "largest government fraud settlement in U.S. History" and other times more specifically as the "largest health care fraud case in U.S. History."...1.7 billion dollars.

after that.... florida elected him governor, and now senator.

truly moronic.

Tucker Carlson Goes Nuts For '******** Tanning' And The Internet Has Questions

Tucker Carlson, who recently came under fire for the homoerotic nature of the trailer for his upcoming “documentary,” which highlights the alleged collapse of testosterone levels in men, is under scrutiny again.

In a short clip, Carlson’s guest, Andrew McGovern, said, “If you want to optimize and take it [your testosterone] to another level, expose yourself to red light therapy”:

Hunter Biden’s Laptop Was Tampered With And Had Files Added To It

According to an independent investigation and the person who recovered the device, Hunter Biden’s laptop had files added to it after it left his possession.

The Washington Post’s experts and the man who owned the computer repair store both came to the same conclusion that files were added to Hunter Biden’s laptop after it left his possession.

The Washington Post reported:

“The experts found the data had been repeatedly accessed and copied by people other than Hunter Biden over nearly three years,” our report explained, with those we spoke with being unable to “reach definitive conclusions about the contents as a whole, including whether all of it originated from a single computer or could have been assembled from files from multiple computers and put on the portable drive.”
What Mac Isaac said next, though, is what was most noteworthy. When he did his “deep dive,” he said, he “saw a lot of photos” — but “did not see a lot of photos that are being reported to [have been] seen.”

“I do know that there have been multiple attempts over the past year-and-a-half to insert questionable material into the laptop as in, not physically, but passing off this misinformation or disinformation as coming from the laptop,” he said. “And that is a major concern of mine because I have fought tooth and nail to protect the integrity of this drive and to jeopardize that is going to mean that everything that I sacrificed will be for nothing.”
The fact that the laptop was tampered with and there are new warnings from the PC repair shop owner about the possibility that disinformation was inserted on it casts doubt on the authenticity of anything that Republicans are going to attempt to use to impeach President Biden and make him a one-term president.

The Washington Post story also reports that someone tried to add files to the laptop one week after the initial New York Post story was published. The laptop has been corrupted.

At the time that the laptop surfaced, Rudy Guiliani had been working for years to get Russian disinformation into the media about Biden.

Cratering!!!!!!! CRATERING!!

It hasn't changed in 6 months. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/biden-approval-rating/

According to Politico his approval rating is somewhere between 37-42%. But for the sake of argument OK, I will change my comment to continues to crater. Happy? Or do you think a 40% approval rating is a good thing?
