I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

The only Republican other than McCarthy, now entering the 3rd ballot, is Jim Jordan.   Some alternative.........

Just so much garbage is the Republican party atm, Jeffries has more votes than McCarthy. Maybe the Democrats decide the vote for the Republicans but if I'm them I sit back and let the Republicans look like fools

Dems could just ride it out and maybe some hard core Republicans vote “present” which reduces the number need for the majority. If 11 of the 19 GOP holdouts vote that way Jeffries could actually win with his 212 votes. At least one GOP voter is prepared to let that happen just to make sure McCarthy never gets voted in  

 

Speculation is that Jim Jordan’s support could grow in the 3rd ballot. So between him and McCarthy (if those are the only two choices) who would Dems rather see? Jordan doesn’t want it because he wants to head the Judiciary committee. Quite possibly to muzzle investigations against himself since his bid for a pardon failed. 

After this is all done Trump will tweet that he would of settled the speaker position in a couple of seconds

Early on, Jordan has 8 votes.  So there will be a 4th ballot...

Moderate House GOP May Bolt And Form ‘Coalition Government’ With Democrats

The conversations have started on a potential House government between moderate Republicans and Democrats if the House GOP can’t get it together.
