I know what you're saying, but I think it is (and was last year) still an open question whether Durant has another run of form left in him. Given better surroundings this season, there'll be no excuse if he's lost it.
I also thought that last season when he shouldered the blame for the Al's crappy play that it showed maturity and leadership. There certainly was enough players and coaches that could've shared the blame. Perhaps a sign that he's grown some character. 
Thanks for the reply. Regardless of what some might think, I don't doubt that if Durant has to line up under centre that you'll be supporting him and hoping he leads you to a win.

Two points regarding this thread:
1)  Durant likely still believes he can compete as a starter somewhere.  Where?  I'm not sure.  If he came to grips with the reality, he likely would have agreed to a contract restructure.  Now he is unemployed.  Classic example of risk versus the reward.
2)  People can crap all over Davis all they want, but the truth of it is, he needs more playing time to actually get better.  Starting from scratch with someone with no experience is going back to square one yet again.   Regardless of how long Davis has been with the team, it's too soon to write him off for good.

I remember last year quite a few posters were saying to get rid of Adams because he wasn't progressing fast enough. Now look at him. Give this kid a chance. There are also quite a few outstanding players on other teams that went through the bomber roster. Patients sometimes is a virtue.

Good grief! for the best part of the last two games we haven't had a real quarterback...and you want to criticize the receivers?

Lefevour's got more CFL experience. Davis has more upside down the road. If MOS is valuing experience over upside, then I have to wonder if we've lost Nichols for the playoffs, otherwise it would make more sense to get Davis some much needed reps.

Thorpe asked to be released.  As in, he quit.  How and why people still bring this up...?  Not a thing to do with Mulamba.  Not even remotely.  Stop ham-fisted shoving this stupid agenda into every thread.  Go revive the long-dead Thorpe thread if you really want to keep talking about Thorpe.
If a playerleaves without us granting his release, he is placed on the suspended list and is not allowed to sign with another CFL team.  That is the only difference.  We still don't own him.  He quit.

He's allowed to quit.  He's allowed to have good reasons to quit.  He's allowed to have bad reasons to quit.  He's allowed to have no reason at all, and still quit.  But the quitting part, that's not in dispute.

The True North chant was started by a couple of fans who wanted to offer a salute to the ownership group for bringing NHL hockey back to Winnipeg and tossed it out at the very first pre-season game. It has now organically morphed into a "Winnipeg" thing where fans yell it to announce their presence at and support for a Winnipeg's team's game, home or road. The cheer afterwards really is just more of that organic morphing, the fans acknowledging that they are there with their "brotherhood" (sisterhood) and ready to cheer loudly for their team, even in a hostile location. Of course it is more pronounced at Jets games, since that is its origin, but it really is more about a way of saying "We are Winnipeg, we are loud, and we are ready to cheer on our team". Hokey to some, I guess, but pretty harmless IMO. The yelling of "Blue" at Bomber games during the anthem is exactly the same concept, albeit more forced (since it was not organically created but a copycat move - see below). So if you hate the "True North" chant, you should logically hate the "Blue" chant as it is designed to elicit the same emotion. It's not about bowing to the corporate overlords. I get the sense that it is a sore spot of petty jealousy by some who don't like the idea that a "Jets" chant carries more power than a Bombers chant at a Bomber game, like the fans are rivals or something.
You do know that the entire "glorious and BLUE" chant is a direct rip-off of the "glorious and GREEN" chant Saskatchewan  fans have been saying for years at Rider games, don't you? Except their chant makes slightly more sense, since "green" at least sounds like "free", while "blue" completely doesn't fit and is truly just a copycat idea. So if it is such a bad "Saskatchewan" idea to do it, what does that say about Bomber fans who bash it as being self-glorification but feel the need to mimic it during their own anthem?
People don't yell it because it would sound stupid and out of context. The "True North" chant works because it fits directly into the anthem and has a link to the team and the ownership who brought them back, so it carries over to other sporting events. The "BLUE" chant doesn't even fit the song. But it's meant to show support for our team, I guess, so the sentiment is good, even if the execution sounds ridiculous.
If Bomber fans wanted something a bit more creative and unique to the anthem at their games, perhaps rather than yelling "glorious and blue" (which really makes no sense and has no semblance of any connection to the anthem other than to copy the Rider tradition), maybe fans should yell "BLUE North" instead. At least that rhymes, reflects the team colour and our geographic location as a football city, and has a nice tie-in to a Winnipeg tradition rather than another city's, but adds a Bomber spin to it.

So what does the last two pages have to do with football?

Two of the first three drives we take penalties that put us in first and 20 when we had gotten first downs (and Nichols converts one of those first and 20s via 16 yard pass then 4 yard run). Harris steps out of bounds on a wheel route that's a guaranteed TD. Sack comes in untouched when we're on MTL half of the field. Sheppard runs out of bounds before catching a sideline toss. Another receiver runs a corner route right into the defender (then failed PI challenge). Our star RB fumbles on two promising drives after gaining first downs.
The sluggishness in this game was definitely not on Nichols. He didn't make bad decisions, had no picks, managed the game at the end with a double-digit completion streak, and did what mattered most: got us the win. 
Take Mo's pick six out of the equation and we still generated enough points to win and that's all that matters. Since Nichols has come in, our team has had four games in a row of 30+ points. Under Willy, 30 points hadn't happened since the season opener last year, and over 30 hadn't happened since before that. A stifling D, a QB that isn't making costly mistakes, a RB that doesn't usually fumble, the best special teams in the league, and an O-line that has given up one sack in two games.
I don't care if we don't have top ten receivers or a QB throwing a million yards, so long as we keep winning, that's all that matters!
I absolutely agree that we'll see what we really have when our top receivers come back, but I think Nichols is doing far and away better with what he has at his disposal than Willy would be, and I'm a Willy supporter. Nichols now has a winning record as a Bomber QB, it's been years since anyone could say that.

Why would the Riders mean more to every person employed in the CFL?  The CFLs cash cow is the TSN contract.  The Riders don't share their profits with the league.
The sense of entitlement from the fans of "Canada's team" is unreal.  The lack of respect their organisation showed to the league is what is an embarrassment.  You are not entitled to cheat because you are the Riders. 

There will always be posters who will try to diminish what the Bombers have done in any won game. What's not surprising is the two who did try. The Bombers didn't 'need' 6 turnovers to beat the Ticats...they caused, at least 5 of those. They like to point out a dropped TD catch by the opponents, but not not count a miss on a wide open receiver, in the end zone, for our team. They'd rather underline a 'lucky bounce' on a kickoff attempt, rather than give credit for heads up play by an oft-criticized veteran player. No, that doesn't count.
And, as you pointed out, the Bombers, with their history, easily could have wilted with that ten-point swing to open the game...but they didn't. I bet you those two posters expected the likes of Simoni Lawrwence and the rest of the (at that time) league-leading sack kings to destroy our O-line and pulverize Drew Willy. Instead, they got 2.... and 1 of those was on a slippery ball fumble. BUT! No credit there either...just those 6 turnovers and lucky bounce. 
You know what? I think they're actually disappointed. I was wondering which 'fans' would bring up those statistics, and, as usual, I wasn't disappointed who did.
