  1. I want to watch tonight because it is opening night and I've been dying for the CFL to start back up again, but man, what an awful match-up.
  2. It's a story because it sounds like Walters made promises that weren't kept. I obviously have no idea what was said between Walters and Yantz, but this is a bit of a garbage comment. There is no way Walters promised Yantz anything. GMs don't do that. He was signed. As a rookie, CIS, 5th QB. Against 4 americans with CFL experience who were returning to the same offence they spent all of last season in. We, as well as every other CFL team, sign an extra arm every season - who is cut every season - and not one word is said. The only reason he even got a quote in the paper is because he's from UofM. Based on Yantz's quotes, it sounds like Walters promised him an opportunity to compete for a roster spot, and Yantz feels he didn't get that opportunity. Interpret that however you like. He did get an opportunity, he was on the field. Yantz had to earn anything more, and no, he would't have had much of a chance to do that and yes, the odds were stacked against him. But there is nothing here against Walters, because all he can promise is a number on the guys back, which was provided.

  4. Stanley Bryant has to be #1. I was shocked when that came through the pipe. Damn near spit out my coffee. At this point, knowing that he will be starting, drafting Chungh should be #2. I think Walters almost talked himself out of it at one point. Hall deserves a mention as #3. Not because he's a phenomenal coach, but because he should be a stabilizing influence on yet another complete disaster. Hall might just be the end to the last of the gong shows of our football club.
  5. It's just something to put next to their names on the roster. They are ST players.
  6. I'll second this. Let's see the power guy with a one yard push up the middle.
  7. I think that's the ideal, but it probably depends on the flow of the game (MOS wanting the first teamers to experience success before taking them out), and a pre-determined snap count.
  8. So do Portis and Yantz. I'd wager $10 million of Yourface's internet dollars that we won't see all 5 QB's play on Friday. TBurgess will be livid that he and the others who will be further cuts have not been announced yet. This club has no direction or clue and won't somebody think of the children! TBurgess is happy that the first round of cuts are finally over so we can use our full resources on those players who'll actually be available for this weeks game. Keeping in mind there is still two weeks until opening day, and we still need training camp bodies so our roster players don't exhaust themselves before the season begins.
  9. denial is a horrible thing. You can deny it all you like but you are entitled. You want decisions made on your schedule and if they're not made in accordance with when you want it then you start slagging the decision makers as fools. That my friend is entitlement whether you want to call it that or not. As for the cuts, biggest surprise to me is west given how much he came along on special teams over the years. Shows how much you actually read. I don't want all the decisions to be made on my schedule. I disagree with some of the decisions. I've never called the decision makers fools. I don't think I'm entitled, I think personal decisions can be made in under 5 days. Most of the cuts were pretty easy to make. When the Bombers make different choices than I would, I point that out. When they make decisions that I agree with, I point that out. It's called having a mind of my own. Agreeing with everything the Bombers do is called 'Fan Boy', which is a title worn by a group of posters around here who want to 'yell down' everyone who disagrees with anything. The part I don't understand is why you want the club (or think the club should/could have) made the decisions earlier than any other team. Is it because we played our games earlier than some of the other teams? I don't think the coaching staff should be penalized because of the schedule makers. Training camp is short enough without also losing 5 days worth of practices and meetings to evaluate the players. The other option, of course, would been to tell the players yesterday morning instead of this morning, so they could make an announcement one day earlier, but why would they do that? They were able to get in an additional day, give every player as much of a chance as they possible could, and were able to take the evening to debate the possibilites. To do so earlier wouldn't be fair to the players in question or the coaching staff.
  10. No, but a penalty on every other play will absolutely ruin the game. For me, anyway.
  11. Nothing wrong with Marve wanting more playing time and to be a starter. But if he's the 3rd QB for the Bombers, which is essentially a developmental position, and you know he's gone next year, then from the Bombers perspective, why spend time developing him, when there's another guy ready to step into that role (Portis), who is committed longer term? It's like in the workplace, why would a business spend effort and resources developing an employee they know will be leaving shortly or an employee who will be retiring in 6 months? I'm not saying Marve will be cut, but from the Bombers perspective, there is definitely a strong case to cut him, or try to trade him, especially when you have a guy ready to step into that developmental role who is committed longer-term. Now if the Bombers plan on moving on from Brohm next year and they see Marve as the long-term backup, then that could change things from both sides perspectives. The biggest reason that we won't cut Marve from a developmental position is that the 3rd stringer is essentially not a developmental position. We've (as well as a number of other teams) have gone 3 QBs deep every season in recent memory. He is not here to develop, he is here to help this team when his number is called and he does a better job of that than what we've seen Portis is capable of.
  12. A little disappointing that Gibson was, again, absent from the line up.Apparently his GF is giving birth. I realize that. Not saying that he should have made a different decision, it's just getting a little silly already. Hopefully he comes back and there aren't any more delays.
  13. So this was super disappointing. It was just audio clips from the mini camp.
  14. A little disappointing that Gibson was, again, absent from the line up.
  15. I'd think that if they were going to give him a shot, it would have been this week. Next week's reps are too important.
  16. you realize preseason is essentially practice.. and we all know what they say about practice..I swear, you login to the forum and say to yourself "what can i disagree or argue against today.." I think everyone gets that preseason is an extended practice. In practice though, the starters get the majority of the reps.
  17. Personally, I'm thrilled that the club is taking such a careful approach with our young draft picks. If Richards is expected to play this season, he'll need to be treated carefully. A 21-year old kid can't be expected to jump into an 18 game season against men from an 8 game season against his peers. Telling him to 'tough it out' is just asking him to get I jured and throwing away your assets rather than developing him, imo.
  18. I just hope they start to display play-off stats.
  19. Oh my god, it's about time. Great to hear.
  20. I really don't think Lattanzio is competing to be the starting FB. I think they're looking at him to be used as a FB in certain situations, like Vega lining up as a TE on the odd occasion. Sure. But they're also looking for impact on ST, especially with the rule changes which will change the kick game substantially. Didn't Walters call Lattanzio "a rolling ball of razor blades?" So what's the point of having a guy like that sitting on the PR? Exactly. He will be a special teamer who may line up in special packages on Offence. And perhaps serve as an emergency replacement on the DL, which is his true position.

  22. I think it's more likely he's here to get a look at CB. We might be looking at going all import in the secondary. Like MIke said, if this guy's a world beater and makes us sit Buchnor, great. If he's not in that category, he's gone.
  23. Play-offs. I expect our OL to be settled and to come toegther as a solid unit. Goosen/Chungh pushing for starting jobs, of course, but for us to not be rotating through a new RT every week. I expect that cohesion to become a more consistant running game and significantly fewer sacks for Drew. I expect Drew to throw more TDs than INTs. I expect to have a top 4 Defence that puts pressure on the opposing QB. I expect a heated argument at the end of the season when discussing our nomination for Most OUtstanding Canadian.
  24. And I hope we take an OL with the number 2 pick, otherwise I have to eat Mike's shorts I wasn't so sure a few weeks ago, but it seems really likely now that we're going OL. If Mateas goes 1, we pick Chungh at 2, and I'll be fairly happy.
