  1. Win, lose or draw I don't think any changes are going to be made coaching wise from this point in. The beginning of the bye-week was the best timing to axe MB, Willy out long-term, Nichols starting fresh and the other three QB's not making any progressions within the existing system. I agree. Walters seems to place more blame on himself than on the coaching staff.
  2. You mean there was a first time? Trying not to let my dislike of the guy affect my opinion of his reporting - he seems like a decent enough journalist at times (I really enjoyed his interview with Kyle Walters recently), he just doesn't seem to have a good grasp of what's happening in front of him during practice.
  3. Gale's been in the CFL for 3 seasons and has 21 pass attempts. He was the short yardage QB in 2014 but otherwise has not had regular reps at QB. Marve alone has more on-field experience than Gale. In his three years, Gale has to have been in film sessions, watched games, and even run scout teams, so I stand by my statement about CFL experience. #3 gets zero reps in practice. Unless we have another injury, I'm good with the QBs we have in terms of retreads. I absolutely want out scouting staff out there looking for next year's third string/development guy, but I'm hopeful Nichols can get us through the rest of this season without needing to see the trio of cuts ever again.
  4. He didn't seem to be a full participant in practice this week. Maybe they had already decided to sit him, but I had assumed he was injured.
  5. I'm sure he was the source. Taman and Lawless seem to be pretty good buddies and Taman is probably the source for a lot of Lawless' CFL tips. I don't think it was meant as an underhanded thing. Taman easily could have thrown CC under the bus in an effort to save his job, he just waited too long. Although, I'm pretty sure the Rider board always intended to get O'Day in the chair.
  6. Arent we just making room for Nichols and Walker?
  7. He was awful today in practice. Early on it looked like Davis and Brohm were splitting reps but it shifted in Brohms favour very quickly.
  8. God. What a useless tweet. Friesen had his back turned away from the field of play to talk to Ed and Bob (although I will say they were all there the entire practice today - must have been to see Nichols). That one-hopper was literally the only miss Brohm had during the first half of practice and could easily have been the receiver not coming back at the appropriate depth.

I think some of us are saying there's always room for improvement controlling for the offense's inadequacies. Absolutely. I really liked the Richie Hall signing and, even though we got off to a slow start and have been handicapped by our offence, I trust what he's doing to keep us ahead of the game. With Turner coming out, Collins might make a decent nose tackle.
  10. Well, I definitely think I'm going to hit up practice tomorrow. Could be interesting, to say the least.
  11. Absolutely you do, not disagreeing with that at all. And I am nitpicking at this point, I get that. I guess I'm just disappointed that the guy we've been developing was so bad, he got beat that quickly. Or that he wasn't replaced sooner, given the amount of injuries we've had.
  12. Walters said in the free today that Davis will be getting more practice reps over the next few weeks. But I imagine that Marve and Brohm will get at least two more games of ineptitude between them before he is considered.
  13. I'm guessing it's as simple as Sam Longo being better. Is it bad to try to keep improving the roster after TC? It's bad that they seemingly can't find a player good enough to stay on the roster. Agreed. I can only assume no other team in the CFL has dropped a player from their practice roster this season. I see what you're saying. When the fan base starts nit-picking about PR moves, we're just looking for thinks to complain about #winnipeg #yadayadayada But, this isn't a WR or a DB that you keep a half dozen of snatched on the PR and 1-game injured list. It's an import tackle that we desperately need. We signed him in the spring and he was supposedly developing during the past few months. it's a bit of a disappointment than the only other Imp tackle was just signed and we have to start the process all over, oping that this guy is better.
  14. I think you can pretty safely write this season off. The separation you mention is happening and it's leaving us clearly behind everyone else. Our offence has shown a fundamental lack of anything without Drew at the helm. What separation though? Still the same number of wins as BC and they have problems of their own, more wins than the riders, one less than Montreal, 2 less then Ottawa.... Sure Calgary and Edmonton and Hamilton and Toronto are pulling ahead but so what? We're talking about taking the 3rd playoff spot in the west here and they're only 1 win back of that right now and could find themselves sitting in that position if they take advantage of the Riders. BC is a bit of a gong show too, but they've played one less game, and Harris can drag the rest of them to a couple more wins. We're ahead of the Riders for now, but in their losses they've looked a hell of a lot more impressive than we have of late (their last game notwithstanding). Everyone in the East is ahead of us and I don't see our ability to overtake any of them. We need to finish ahead of three teams to make the play offs. We are only ahead of the Riders and our offence right now is unable to win us a game. I personally see us falling further back behind at least the six play off teams.
  15. Phil Hunt? I didn't realize he was still kicking around... good for him... He's only 29 years old. He was cut. He'd be an interesting pick up. He spent last year out of football before signing on with the Lions this off season. I wonder if he's ready for a CFL comeback. Coming off an ACL injury, bouncing from the Eagles, the Colts and now the Lions .. he may not be the same player he was when he left .. Shawn Lemon also just got released by the 49ers. He's someone the organization may want to touch base with. His acl injury was two years ago when he was with the eagles. I doubt that's an issue at this point. But no, there's no guarantee he's anything close to what he was when he left.

  18. IF Drew heals up before the season is over, which is probably 50/50 given the timeline, I would want him to come back. Again, if he is actually healthy, I think it would be good for him to get some live snaps under his belt heading into the off-season.
  19. I simply mean young QBs who have given they're franchises hope. BLM has become one of the leagues best, whereas Cato and Franklin have created positives out of what, for us, has been an impossible obstacle to overcome.
  20. Not to rain on your parade, but we can't win with our offence as it stands and we have no idea when Willy will be back or how long he'll be able to stay in once he does.
  21. I have no interest in a CFL vet. I want a legit prospect for once. Seeing Bo Levi, Collaros, Cato, Franklin, et al come into the league while we brought back the exact same 4 we had last season, before picking Davis off of Calgarys scrap pile is ridiculous.
  22. I obviously can't speak for anyone else, but bringing in even worse QBs than we already have would not appease me in any way.
