Classy player both on and off the field, best of luck with the NFL dream. If it doesn't work out, i suspect he will be back here. Hope for Wilds sake, it does work.

Meh x 2. If Lulay can't stay healthy, i don't care who the coaches are.

Do you think Jets will make any trades now?
Goalie replied to Brandon's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Jets aren't moving their first round pic. I don't see that happening plus Eberle would be one of the highest paid players on the team. Don't see them adding that salary without removing someones and i don't see that happening right now. eberle is a 6 million dollar plus a year player. -

Yeah we'd be looking to trade with teams like Buffalo,Arizona, Edmonton,Carolina even. Pardy has probably very little value, he can be waived to St Johns and i really don't think anyone would pick him up. He's not that good actually. Better players have been put on waivers and have cleared this season. Postma? has some value to those bottom feeding teams looking to rebuild or whatever you wanna call it, has potential but with the D group we have, is at best a #6 d man.. Coaches obviously have more faith in the other guys as Postma has been a healthy scratch for some time now. Postma by himself might not get you much butt you add a guy like Burmistrovs rights or a prospect not named well, not any of the "higher ranked prospects' and you might be able to get a pretty solid 3rd line winger. It's apparent that Halischuk isn't good enough so i think you will see them trying hard to upgrade that spot. No superstars or anything, just a guy who can play with Lowry and Kane, maybe a rental even or a guy with not much term remaining and definitely not a guy with lots of salary coming back. Think guys like Kassian, Bergenheim, Condra,Tlusty, Stafford maybe.. guys like that. We aren't gonna go out and make a big splash that's for sure. Postma,Burmi,Galliardi,Halischuk, prospects not ranked high, these are the guys that we'd be looking to move. I don't see us going after any high priced top 6 guys at all, i'm thinking they try to upgrade that third line.. Kane,Lowry and the upgrade would give us 3 solid lines going in to the playoffs and wouldn't mess with the team chemistry that they obviously have going on right now. Ladd,Little,Wheeler Perreault,Scheif,Frolik Kane,Lowry, ??? 4th line? i dunno what you do there exactly, you know what you do actually, you just play them a few minutes a game like you have been doing all season and hope for the best really. No teams have 4 dominating lines, it just doesn't work like that these days. -
For the most part, Hutch had an easy night. I'm a big fan but I'm not pretending that Hutch won that game all by himself, he had 1 great save on Dubinsky and the rest were relatively easy saves for him. If Pav played, I'm thinking the same result, not sure if PAV stops that one on Dubinsky tho but he might have cuz PAV has been known to make the spectacular save from time to time. Honestly tho, Jets just played better than Columbus, had the better chances, game could have been 6 7 8-0 really. Columbus goalies made some pretty solid saves. I'll say this, the Columbus goalies had to make the way tougher saves that's for sure. Columbus might have outshot the Jets in the first but really, none of those shots were that difficult at all. After the first, the Jets took over.

Hall most likely to be new DC (Now Official)

I think I'd like to see them go hard after Heenan and or Holmes, I know some say it's a pipe dream to get Heenan but I'm not convinced of that, He's testing the FA waters for a reason, I think if the Bombers make him a solid offer, that it's likely he does sign here, Lots of connections here it seems. Neufeld, Willy,Newman even and now Picard too. Wouldn't surprised me if we land him actually. Wouldn't mind them going after a receiver, thinking a guy like Earnest Jackson would be nice, Willys fav receiver at U of B... MLB's? I don't see many on the list, I see a few interesting depth players.. guys like Sam Hurl might be a nice pick up. Maybe some depth at DL would be ok too with Lucas retiring, Maybe a guy like Donny O altho i'm not sure he's much better than Jake Thomas at this point, always thought Donny O was a bit over rated by some.. people wanted him to be the next Doug Brown but he really hasn't even come close to living up to his hype. Honestly, An OL or 2, perhaps the other being an import Tackle altho if you sign Heenan, I think I like Daniels or Tyler at the other Tackle spot. Maybe a receiver, not a priority in my opinion but i'd be ok if they grabbed one and some depth for sure, hurl etc to replace guys like Cornell and the sorts on the roster. Gotta remember that guys like Cornell and that are just depth guys, if they can be replaced by younger better players, by all means, go for it. Plus we got the draft so i'd suspect, Not sure who our 4 or 5 worst "depth" canadian players are but i'd imagine if you can replace them with the draft and free agency, we will be doing good. Also a point that might be over looked is Graig Newman, should be healthy and ready to go and him being healthy automatically bumps off one of our "depth canadian players" for sure. -
Was at the game live, girl about 5 sections over won the 50/50.. about 33,000 bucks for her. Not bad lol. Was a good game overall, Jets dominated, did get caught in their zone a few times but Jets had the way better scoring chances, first 2 shots on goal were goals.. crazy looking at the scoreboard and seeing the shots on goal like 7-2 Columbus but the Jets winning 2-0. Hutch played well, only really had to make 1 really good save, the rest were, well, they are what i'd call not grade A chances really. Jets did start off slow despite the 2 goals on 2 shots but took over from there. Surprised Columbus out hit the Jets actually. 3 stars at the arena were Hutch Wheeler and Thorburn. Jets still take some dumb penalties at times... funny moment of the game was the Columbus player losing his skate blade and having to stay on the ice until the play was done #HutchforAllstargame to replace Bobrovsky who injured himself on a harmless looking play would be a nice gesture by the NHL.

Winnipeg Outdoor Heritage Classic game could be postponed
Goalie replied to Rich's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
People 25 years ago would be ***** slapping people complaining about a one year delay. New stadium and hockey team playing in that stadium. Amazing. Even 20 years ago. I personally could care less if it's 2016 or 2017 or 2020. The fact that we will get one eventually is quite amazing when you think about it -

Bombers will make very little. Not sure why the NHL couldn't pay for the extra seating when they are the ones taking in all the revenue. Heritage classic nice but seems the local team and stadium lose out lots -

Goalie replied to Rich's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Technically the game was never confirmed in the first place so I don't see the need for outrage or to play the blame game. Seems like both true north the bombers and the NHL are all at fault. Bombers might make a few bucks off the game. Not much. True north don't make much either. NHL takes all the revenue. -
What a waste of 600 bucks. 300 jersey 300 tix.

Do the Bombers REALLY sit on announcements?
Goalie replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Honest Question. No sarcasm or bs like my last few posts in this topic.. Why does it matter when they announce who the DC is? Honestly, why do a few of you care so much? Does it really bother you that much? Or.. I'm just curious as to why a few people can't wait until they announce it. I understand it's the off-season and people want news, i get that. I get that maybe because of Stubler last year saying thanks but no thanks people might be getting a bit antsy but other than those 2 reasons, why the rush? Why the need to know? The people that matter all know already. I just don't get why it's such a big deal if they announce it today tomorrow a week from now or even a month from now. Before people say but a month from now, free agency will have passed, yes but last year technically ETCH wasn't named DC until after the free agency period. -
I have tickets for that game too. Should be a doozy. I'd honestly suspect nothing much happens but 6 games for a guy who has been suspended like 1000000 times before? seems right :S

What that photo doesn't show tho is Pav making 2 or 3 saves prior to it and all the traffic in front of him including 6'5 inch Dustin Byfuglien. Seriously putting that goal on him when he made 2 or 3 big saves before hand and the team had at least 2 chances to clear the puck out of the zone and failed to do so is kind of ridiculous actually.

Drew Tate signs extension with Stampeders
Goalie replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I don't see tate being traded, to who? Nobody really needs a QB? Ottawa? doubt it, regardless they have Henry and Demarco still, they don't need him. Montreal will probably roll with Crompton. This is a solid move by the Stamps to secure a guy who obviously wants to be there. -
Jets looked tired all game long, pretty understandable considering it was their 7th game in 11 days. Finished with a 5-1-1 record there too. Not bad. Pav played very well, didn't get much help back there for most of the night, several grade A chances for Arizona but Pav stood tall and made the big saves. Blaming him for any of those goals tonight is crazy.. One was a bad giveaway, that i suppose you can blame Pav on since he was the one that shot it away in the first place but the last 2? Nah, a deflection and then a double deflection? No goalie in the league is gonna stop those ones that's for sure. Pav has actually played quite well the last 2 or 3 even 4 games now, just doesn't seem to get much help. Regardless, 2 points is 2 points and now tied with the Blackhawks for third in the central. WHo would have thought that. I have noticed something tho, when the Jets play on Sportsnet or Citi TV, regardless it's a sportsnet production, they really aren't very good. Perhaps they are listening to the very boring announcing during the game and it's putting them too sleep cuz god knows it darn near puts me to sleep. Bob Cole might be a legend but the guy is so boring now and doesn't really have a clue what is going on at all, Greg Millen seems angry all the time, It's just not a good combination at all. Sportsnet really needs to do something about their announcing teams, cuz COLE and Millen absolutely suck, Just no excitement at all, they are just so boring to listen too, it honestly makes the game seem more boring than it is. Oh well, On to Columbus on Wednesday, I'll be at that game Hopefully the Jets are rested and come out and pound them before getting a much needed break. It's insane this last little schedule they have been on, West Coast to Winnipeg to Dallas to Chicago to Winnipeg all in 11 nights, Brutal schedule but like i said, 5-1-1 on the toughest part of the schedule is huge.

Or maybe hall is already hired and they are waiting cuz they enjoy ppl on this board getting their panties in a knot. -
I think Floyd you need to pay more attention. Jets are very high on copp. He will be on the team next season if he decides to leave school. He is pro ready. No you don't need 3 #1 lines, you need d men tho. Bogo isn't being trades anytime soon

Do the Bombers REALLY sit on announcements?
Goalie replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Honestly, if i asked my friends who are casual bomber fans, they watch the games and even go to games but don't follow the team that closely in the off-season, I mean the Jets are the team right now to be watching, but if i asked them now, who are the coaches of the bombers, they would just say Mike O'shea or that guy from the argos even, not sure some even know his name, If i asked them who the DC is, they would say what is the DC... Casual fans don't care especially in January, there is snow on the ground, we got a hockey team to watch, they just don't care at the moment. Once the season gets closer, people will start to care. When the bombers do name the DC, there will be a topic and it will have about 100 or so people commenting on it, when you really think about it, 100 people is nothing. That stadium gets anywhere between 26 and 33000 people at games. 100 people on these boards? It's not about impatient people, it's about keeping the bomber name in the news. YOu think the average fan cares who the DC is? or who they sign in January? Not at all. Once the snow melts tho and the hockey season is over, that's when people will start to care more. Heres my best guess, since Darren Cameron is in Arizona it appears, and will be back Monday,I'd honestly expect an announcement on the DC to come shortly, perhaps during the NHL all star break when their is no Jets news, right now, Jets are the talk of the town, 4-0-1 in their last 5, those last 5 games being played in 7 days. Next week, i'd expect maybe after the Columbus game on Wednesday, you will hear a bomber announcement. And that's the right way to do it because for the next several days, because of the all star break, there will be no Jets news really. -
Do the Bombers REALLY sit on announcements?
Goalie replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
They don't cater to fans on message boards, the 1 or 2 percent if that of the fans.. they space it out so the average fan, my parents, my girlfriend, people like that... so they go oh the bombers are in the news now. Cool. It's not about catering to impatient fans on message boards that's for sure. -
Trouba will probably get a bridge deal, that's what the Jets do. Buff at 8 million? Not really, maybe 7 but really that's only 1.5 or so more than it is now, You are gonna have guys like Ehlers Petan Morrissey and the little known center from Michigan Andrew Copp coming in to on Entry Level Contracts. It's not a lot of cap.. And regardless what anyone says, Bogo is not the third pairing d man, he's at worst a top 4. Actually he's playing top 2 minutes right now with Toby. Trading a dman who is not in his prime is crazy talk. Teams are built from the net out. What it seems to be is some people (maybe just one) wants the Jets to mortgage the future, but the future looks bright and their are ways around the cap.. Don't re-sign slater, move Thorburn or Postma, Stuart even... Is frolik gonna stick around? rumour has it he wants close to 5 million or so a year for 5 years. Do we need him with prospects coming up? You don't trade top 4 d men and that's what bogo is, for forwards and we don't need centers really. We have many of them. Jets are looking for a 3rd line right winger, they don't need a top 6 winger right now and with ehlers and petan coming soon, they want need wingers for a while. Hey but i got an idea, let's trade a top 4 d man (that's what bogo is) so then when people get hurt, we can call up ellerby or play pardy.. Great idea.. Let's just totally disrupt the obvious chemistry this team has cuz i mean we are totally in rebuild mode right now anyways, we aren't 5th overall in the western conference and only 2 points back of both Chicago and St Louis, Let's trade a top 4 d man for an easily picked up winger that we really don't need right now. Makes no sense at all really. Forwards are a dime a dozen, we don't need centers, we have one that nobody has heard of that the Jets are high on in Andrew Copp, we have 2, could argue 3 centers already in Little,Scheif and Lowry (who could easily switch over to the wing) and Copp takes his center spot on the third line. Wingers? Hello Petan and Ehlers. Why would we even think about moving a top 4 d man right now.. it's crazy talk and it won't happen, It's more likely we move Buff than Bogo in my opinion only due to the fact that Bogo is still yet to reach his prime and Buff is in his right now. Want to talk realistic trades? It involves these guys here (Frolik, cuz he's not signed after this season, Postma,Pardy,Harrison probably,Slater,Thorburn,Peluso, Halischuk, Prospects not named Hellebyuck,Comrie,Morrissey,Ehlers,Petan,Copp) That's about it right now. You gonna see a postma/burmi type of trade for a 3rd line winger on an expiring or cheap contract. That's it. No big deals to be made here. Why? the team is playing well and looking to add, not subtract.
-
Just one more thing, Anybody still want to trade Bogo for Eberle? Like that was ever going to happen? Since returning from injury,BOGO has been a beast, this is the Bogo everyone has been waiting for. The guy is a young d man still trying to find his niche and these last few games, i think he's found it. He's not gonna put up tons and tons of points altho he does have more points this year then he did all of last year but the guy is a reliable shut down d man who can score from time to time and still young enough to get better, hasn't reached his prime really. D men take longer to reach their prime. You don't trade guys like Bogo, you build around guys like him. Our D is scary and when Trouba comes back and Harrison more than likely goes upstairs, what team is gonna want to face Buff/Chiarot,Bogo/Toby and Trouba/Stuart. What a luxury to have these guys. This is how winning teams are built, from the goaltender on out, not sure why anyone would want to move a guy like Bogo really. D men like that don't grow on trees, Bet Montreal is kicking themselves for moving Ryan McDonough and i know if we moved Bogo, in a couple years, we would be doing the same. And especially not for a winger or someone like that from a losing culture who can't play D. As much as it pains me to say this, and it does, cuz he's a beast, if you are looking to move a d man, i'd look at Buff, he'd bring the most back... but ideally Buff Bogo and Trouba are all around for a very long time and we just find a way to make it work. I'm guessing that's what they will do too. Find a way to make it work.
