  1. I think I have to agree that they got quite a bit... they will just need some time to develop... IMO the 2014 Redblacks are much better than 2013 Bombers were... and we didn't get any "help"
  2. Is a quote from someone??? Cuz it's just plain wrong... Cutler, Forte, Bennett, Marshall, Jeffery.... they have some of the best offensive weapons in the NFL... Defence is a different story though...
  3. I guess this hasn't been mentioned yet but goes without saying... with the TO win we pick #2, #11, #20 etc...
  4. I would be quite shocked if Campbell is fired... you NEED to give a HC of an expansion team AT LEAST 2 years... I know they expected better than 2-3 wins but not even the most optimistic Ottawa homer expected a playoff berth in year 1...
  5. IMO if Etch mixed up some "conventional" sets along with his "unconventional" approach the defense could work quite well... Have a base 4-3 on running downs then throw an "unconventional" look on 2nd and long... or whatever, someone smarter than me can figure it out... mixing it up could go a long way
  6. Also, I think Sask beats Edm.... Edm has their #2 spot locked in and they know there's a chance they play Sask again next week... so I think they come out with a very vanilla game plan... something to keep the guys in rhythm, but not enough to show if they have any tricks up their sleeves...
  7. This is actually very interesting... it's extremely rare that a team could finish anywhere from first in the division to completely out of the playoffs... should make for some fun watching As for the west... Fake Mark Cohon said it best in a tweet earlier in the week... 2 teams trying to lose vs 2 teams in playoff spots likely resting some starters...
  8. I believe they automatically become FAs once the season ends... maybe the team made the decision to release them immediately instead of doing so after the season "officially" ends... This just seems peculiar because of the timing... I think that's what gets people worked up... not necessarily the loss of Kyle Norris... you would think there would be some mandate that would prevent these kinds of things from happening... I mean Ottawa's season is done but they still have a game to play... why can't someone pluck from their PR right now (rhetorical question)??
  9. I said early in the year that Montreal looked to be a QB away from being a good team... now I don't think Crompton is a future HOFer or anything... but he manages the game well, doesn't turn the ball over, has a decent arm.... just what that team needs to make a run...
  10. I would say Calgary... my dad was from Cgy and he used to cheer for them when the Bombers were out...So I'll cheer for them when the Bombers are out too... but trust me, as soon as they line up against the Blue and Gold... this "second favourite" business goes far out the window!
  11. Not quite fast enough to be a safety, not big enough to play LB. Doesn't seem the like the body type that fits in to any typical NFL mold. Shame for him, he's a legitimate talent. Safety would be his only shot in the NFL... unless he can somehow manage to put on 35-40 pounds of muscle.... I believe he was a safety in college??
  12. Just for fun I'll go... Edmonton 28 Hamilton 20 MVP Mike Reilly MOC Hugh O'Neill (mostly beard-related)
  13. Whoever has the tie-break btwn those two... by my research: W3 BC 26 Sask 13 = BC+13 W9 BC 16 Sask 20 = BC+9 So I believe Sask would cross-over unless div record is the tie breaker... in which case: BC 4-5 vs West Sask 4-5 vs West and both play a west opponent this week... so I guess it still be Sask that crosses if they both win/both lose...
  14. Most of your analysis is pretty good... except for the one thing I highlighted... McManus is here as a scout and assistant GM... not as a coach.... I assume his career arc has him becoming a GM someday, not a HC... As for Ian Wild at MLB... he was BY FAR the best we had playing there this season... normally I don't worry too much about the size of a guy but 6'0 208 is a little small for MLB IMO... if he can keep his speed up and play around 220-225 that would be ideal... Henoc played at 6'0 230, so I see no reason why Wild couldn't be that size too...
  15. I'd agree with this... if that list is accurate... I think I'd like to have Dunn and January back competing for spots
  16. I think Lirim is probably our most outstanding rookie, Canadian, and special teamer.... save some of the nominations for the rest of the guys!
  17. Here is a breakdown of Willy's performance in 6 game intervals. 1662 yards 7 TD 4 INT - 6 GAMES PLAYED 1315 yards 5 TD 7 INT - 5.5 GAMES PLAYED 770 yards 2 TD 5 INT - 3.5 GAMES PLAYED Clearly regression is a word that could be used to describe these stats. kinda silly to ignore that important aspect of those stats... If those were actual 6 game intervals you would have a stronger point...
  18. You are correct. Potential riders to go if push comes to shove would include Picard, Fulton or maybe Best. Bottom line is we have way too much cap space tied up in this group. At this point Labatte is the only untouchable on that line followed by Heenan. I'll take Picard &/or Best. That's an upgrade. Think I'd rather have Best... he would be an upgrade at guard... I think Picard is only a centre... either Goossen is ready to start there next year or Morley continues to keep the spot warm for him... no need for Picard...
  19. I guess the call is legit... although it's incredibly marginal.... but I can see Young having a beef with Barker being right over the ref's shoulder...
  20. Personally, I wanted to see Marve in the 4th quarter... not because I think he's the better QB or should be the starter... but it was plainly obvious to anywhere there that the offense, as a whole, was not getting it done... our only hope was that Marve could use his mobility to try and conjure up some miracle plays... maybe open up the running game too... which was mysteriously abandoned... also, IMO, Willy had ample time to throw on most of the sacks...
  21. IMO our o-line looked better this year with Greaves-Morley-Goossen/Neufeld in the middle than any scenario that had 3 imports... Ideally you get a starting Canadian o-lineman with the 2nd overall pick... but a starting Canadian anywhere is an upgrade for us right now...
  22. 2014 situation without the trade: No Hall, No Neufeld, 2nd rounder, 1 4th rounder in 2015 2014 situation with the trade: No Hall, Neufeld, no 3rd round pick (cuz we traded up to get a 2nd), 2 4th rounders in 2015 Not much difference except that with the trade we have a potential Cdn O-lineman that's ONLY 26 years old... to write him off already is just ridiculous... if these injury concerns continue next year... and there's still no plan to replace him... then there's some concern about Neufeld's future... still has nothing to do with the trade.. Also... anyone who doesn't realize the CFL draft is a crap-shoot after the first few picks hasn't been paying close enough attention...
  23. I think Bauming tweeted something to that effect recently too... That would be nice to see for the final game...
  24. Love the optimism.... yeah it's a stretch... but this post is a nice change from the usual negativity and pessimism...
