  1. Since we're throwing suggestions out there... one of my biggest pet peeves that I've complained about for many years is how the jumbo-tron/announcer gets the crowd riled up when the offense in on the field... you know how on defense they'll have a player on the jumbo-tron to pump up the crowd for noise... they need to have Harris or Nichols come on the jumbo-tron and tell everyone "shhhh for the offense".... a big play happens and people are excited, which is great, but as soon as the huddle forms again, people need to shut up and let the offense work... probably about 2/3 of the crowd have no idea "when" to cheer... it drives me crazy when our offense is huddling and people start standing up and cheering... all it would take is a jumbo-tron PSA every now and then for people to figure it out (hopefully)...
  2. Now I'm not saying this is a good idea... but I guess this would be the theory behind it... We trade Bryant to Montreal for Foucault... Foketi slides into his natural LT spot, Foucault starts at RT and Hardrick is the odd man out (PR if he accepts)... that would likely leave Couture as the 6th man... Again, I'm not saying this is a good idea, or we should make this trade... but if there were rumblings, this is how I think it would go down... of course, the biggest problem with all this is we have no idea if Foucault is a CFL caliber starting tackle...
  3. I would love to see the jets win out... I would just hate to see that have an effect on the decision on our coaching staff... and it will...
  4. To be honest... I'm just impressed this is a real name... is he the original Johnny Be Good??
  5. If anything I would say the music isn't loud enough!... I like the drum line but as a musician, one of my biggest per peeves is hearing off-beat percussion... they should try to coordinate the drum line to add to the music playing on the PA... rather than just playing a random beat that is completely different than the PA song... probably difficult to coordinate that but just a thought...
  6. Stan Schwartz and Brian Towriss... not sure why Rich chose to omit the builders... more info: http://www.cfl.ca/2017/03/22/call-to-the-hall-hall-of-fame-reveals-class-of-2017/
  7. I don't think the ratio is perfect.. and I've long maintained that IF the CFL can add a 10th team, then we may need to look at the ratio... but what I, and many others, are saying is a ratio change is not really on the table right now for the CFL's list of things to change...
  8. That's fine... I probably wouldn't have even watched it if I wasn't there... all I'm saying is the excitement of winning a close game is what brought fans to their feet... not some generic enthusiasm of the state of the franchise... I remember the 2013 Banjo Bowl... I knew I was watching one of the worst Bomber teams since the Reinboldt era... and I really just wanted the season to end so we could blow it up... but that was still an exciting game to be at as I spent most of the 2nd half on my feet...
  9. This would be my biggest concern about making significant ratios changes (which BTW, I think is a topic for discussion that is not even in the room, let alone on the table)... I would hate to see football in Canada at the grassroots level start to disappear...
  10. Yeah I recall Condell was in the conversation as a soon-to-be HC... I wonder if he'll have an additional title like assistant HC...
  11. yeah the actual comment I made to my friend at the game was "the closest thing to 2 NHL defensemen he has".... with Buff in the box, that sadly made Stuart our 2nd best D-man...
  12. I was at the game on Sunday.... if you think that fans cheering at the end of a game is indication that they are all happy with the direction of the organization... then you are far too removed from a live sporting event... I was frustrated, but not too surprised, they blew the lead... but I was standing up cheering at the end of the game, not because I am supporting the status quo, but because it was an exciting finish... and a little respect for Morrissey and Stuart who played the entire 2 minutes of 6 on 4... simply b/c they were the only 2 NHL defensemen Maurice had to chose from in that situation
  13. I bet you $50 this bet never happened...
  14. I guess he figured there's no point in ranking an NFL player...
  15. I'm not advocating for or against Jacob Ruby.... but starter does not necessarily equal quality player...
  16. ...... oh wait, this was serious?!? Reduce the number of quality QBs on the roster, that one makes sense... Would KG be considered a recycled or a reused QB??
  17. I don't quite understand this stat... so if a kicker lines up for a 50-yarder, would that be considered "not expected to make" so if he makes it he would be 3 point above expected?.... then does it consider weather and wind too?... wouldn't someone technically have to review almost every kick all season and make a judgement on if it is expected or not?...
  18. I agree with you completely... but I guess my assumption is hey let's write an article to get people pumped about the draft and throw in some player comps... If you're trying to generate readers and interest you compare the draft picks to their ceiling... It's not like GMs are reading this article to make their draft board... it's for the fans, so no one will care or remember this article if Boateng and Vandervoort actually end up being busts... if Hamilton drafts Vandervoort will the fans be more excited to see the next Fantuz or the next Bauman... Even if his comps are perfect....basically, I think the article doesn't make any sense from a marketing perspective...
  19. Sure we get that... but usually when you compare future draft picks to current/past players it's generally done with all-stars or very good players... to give an idea of their potential... if you want to get fans psyched up about the draft you say Vandervoort is Fantuz, Mason Woods is Matt O'Donnell, Boateng is Brent Johnson, Eli Ankou is Doug Brown, etc... PS - I'm not saying any of these comps are accurate... just making a point...
  20. exactly... also he compares Vandervoort to Bauman and Boateng to Mrabure... so he's predicting Vandervoort and Boateng will both be busts??
  21. I don't think you'll ever see much criticism from the broadcasting crew... their job isn't to analyse the team... it's just to call the game as it's happening... on local broadcast, homerism is basically expected....
  22. I agree with you on that one.... I think we're all talking about the 8th end with MB up 5-3... if McEwen draws for 1 there he's up 6-3 with 2 to go.... even if they give up 2 in 9 they're still safe coming home... disappointing finish for MB, especially in a very winnable game...
  23. I find it odd that he compared all those players to generally underwhelming Canadian draft picks... You would think he would throw out an all-star comp just to give an idea of these players' potential...
  24. Or he comes into camp, provides competition, and makes the team if deemed worthy... or whatever spin you like to put on it
