  1. I think it's time to face the facts....the argo's have a 'loose cannon' on their club ...The history of this guy suggests it could be a mental issue....Besides the moral obligation that the team has , there now exists a criminal element as well....Until this goes through the courts a suspension of this player should be brought forward by the league ....Anything less will be seen as inaction.....I'm afraid Kelly has dug himself a hole and his history suggests this kind of thing 'could' happen again....The league going silent on this mess is deafening

They were a smoke and mirror team all yr tho...flawed in many areas...character up and down the line obviously from management to team leaders becoming apparent

ADD to that an offseason where some of the argo players picked up on what had happened, (we know something like this spreads like wild fire in a locker room) AND could be a reason why some of their players wanted to head for the exit in fa.....Can't say that scenario is what has taken place, but the sequence of events has definitely a stigma attached to it....considering the latest revelations

  3. IF Jeffcoat's play was so revered, as Bighill says in the article , then why didn't other players on the club step up and shave a little off their salary to keep him around....Other clubs have done just that....I think the reality is that he was seen by many to have lost his edge that made him great...happens to a lot of players..   In that event you move on, which we have done....To remain successful in this league you have to make tough decisions....they were made and will continue to be

  4. Kelly has had run ins with the law down south....Found wandering around in a friends house uninvited in the wee hours of the morning....The guy seems to have mental lapses, as in that case, he couldn't remember how he got there or why he was there....I don't know if he had one of those mental lapses in this latest harangue but that's up to the lawyers to determine....When you sign a player like Kelly you take on all of his previous baggage....argo's new that....Now you have to wait until the courts have their say and it is a cloud hanging over the club meanwhile....This is something that the argo's or the CFL needs....Send in the lawyers

I don't think we would have folded, and I doubt we would still be a bottom feeder but the whole CFL was in financial peril throughout most of the 90's and early 2000's for sure. Taman did not have any kind of budget or scouting department to speak of. When the league stabilized and brought in the SMS it killed his career really because he didn't have a hot clue how to do the job properly but was better than most during a time everyone was winging it.

Now c'mon....Taman had an indepth rollodex and 7/11 napkins at his disposal....How could you fail...he was wingin' it alright ,like all the others, most likely at a local restaurant .......................lol...............

  6. A shooting everday in Van....The drug trade has an ongoing war that threatens passersby almost daily....That does not happen in Winnipeg, as I follow the local news quite closely....Sure the Peg has it's problems but not like Vancouvers....I don't know who compiles shootings ...followed by a stolen car fire to cover evidence, but I assure you Van is a helluva lot worse than the Peg in that respect...Just face it violent crime in general is rampant across the country...When one politician said the country is 'broken' , he's very close to the truth

  7. There's all kinds of different variables when comparing one place to another...I'll use the stadiums as a measurable...in the football sense......Let's go T.O. vs. Wpg.......Winnipeg wins and comparing the facility in the Peg to a lot of other cities in the country ...Winnipeg wins.....so there's that....I find that a lot of the population in the Peg sell their city short

well...I lived in both cities...at different times...also multiple times....as well as a few extended stays in the U.S....and now have been back here for 18 yrs...theres a reason....just sayin...and I am not a born and bred Manitoban so no bias from growing up here

Urban decay in all the big cities...the warts...crime....poverty...it's the same everywhere....and I seen many way worse than here, and I have seen areas I get a lil freaked in...and I dont get freaked out easily

You're right on with the 'urban decay' comment....Every big city is suffering from it in some form....I find the bigger the city....the bigger the problems...it only follows...Winnipeg was , in the railway hey day, the third largest city in Canada....When the railway went to pot, the city followed...in some instances...I still luv the place because I was born there....still have most of my family and friends there...I now live in retirement in one of the most desired places in Canada BUT even here there are problems bordering on 'big city' probs....

  9. The 'Big Smoke' (T.O.)..sure as hell is no panacea of places to visit....There's certain parts of that city I wouldn't walk around in at night...and if you think the Peg is bad, you should have a look at that....Toronto is suffering the same 'american big city' woes ....and everything that goes with that....I have relatives that live there and the're constantly complaining about ...traffic, shootings and the surge of immigrants sleeping in their downtown core....No T.O. is not Wpg. and I'm sure glad that it isn't

Didn't Roberts hold out at training camp a couple of times? Complaining he was underpaid & not appreciated by the Bombers? I seem to remember him doing that at least a couple of times.

Charlie always seemed to have a chip on his shoulder....Might have served him well because that's how he played...with a lot of success I might add...I know he had a few run ins with management and he probably wouldn't fit the fifo mold of today...Sometime he looked like he didn't give a crap when they got a shot of him on the bench on occasion....That's when he'd come in and rip off a 30-40 yard run making the opposition look foolish...Luv'd the guy

  11. .....Trading him to the leo's, where he finished up with a torn achilles, was not the way I would've like to have seen Charlie go out....I think his heart left the game after he left Wpg. and it was just a matter of time until the inevitable....the injury just moved it along a little faster....I rank him along with Leo Lewis as the best this club has ever seen, and even with his smoking and offfield antics, that doesn't change for this fan

Yup...the last 2 cups will irritate me till I die...we threw 2 away which we totally could have locked down. Gut instinct this off-season is a lesson learned was realized..finally...now hopefully all the lessons were absorbed fully

Never should have lost them...We were the superior team....just not on that day...All kinds of factors go into that, and that has been discussed over and over again , like we're on a never ending search for what went wrong...I think we have a good idea why we didn't notch that last one, and it seems we actually maybe on the way to correcting things..................................hopefully

  13. Bailey 'could' return BUT I think we'll only re-sign him at a bargain basement price....He deserves to be paid .....Could we squeeze him in ???would be tough...Now if Zack would shave a bit of his contract like Kelly in T.O. did, we might get it done......should/could we expect it.....probably not....Kind of leaves Bailey hanging in the breeze..I feel for the guy especially knowing how much he loves his team mates and the City.....tough call...very tough

  14. I can remember vividly the clash between Bud and James and it was mostly over Gerry's going to the Leafs during hockey season...Bud did not want one of his star players getting nic'd in another sport ...especially when they were in the Cup years, hence the disagreement ....I don't know that it was ever bitter, because James was always given the green light to go to the Leafs....but not with Grant's blessing....The contract squabbles I know nothing about, but there were always players who thought they were worth more then.....much like today

I’m pretty confident if I told your veteran parent to go balance a ball on his nose in reference to his service branch, you’d struggle to find the “levity” in that comment, especially since you recognize their sacrifice as you say. If you want to rip a player’s performance, fair game. You want to call out their character for domestic violence, drunk driving, getting busted using steroids, have at it. But no, I’m not going to lighten up because you want to poke fun at someone’s military service by equating it to a circus trick, there’s nothing funny about it, especially as a parting shot.

I've sat with veterans in the legion many times, and I assure you they would  take a lot lighter stance on my comments about a 'football player'/ navy seal and his short tenure here, than you are...I do not kid about the military service of any veteran .....get that straight....As a football player , I think he's fair game in the public venue....Your crusade for the guy is wonderful but I'm sorry, I'm not going to retract or apologize for my comments and my 'lighten up' statement still stands....

AND as a side note ....quoting a guy like 'lyinguy' who called us a bunch of 'aholes' doesn't get you any points around here

Nothing like dancing on a guy’s  grave on his way out with some cheap pot shots and character assassination of a serviceman. Sometimes I agree that Lyin’ Guy wasn’t far off with his “bunch of assholes” comment. Not upset about the cut from a roster point, but the man came in and did whatever was asked of him and did it competently enough, whatever the assessment of the skill of the position or the utility of the roster spot. And he served his country in the military in an elite service branch that makes him deserving at least of thanks and respect instead of mimicry, and makes him as tough if not tougher IMO than any poster on this site, whether they be ex-football player, gym rat, or keyboard comedian wanting to see circus acts or having a laugh at his expense.

Get serious...As a kid of a  second world war vet, who put his life on the line for this country  , I take umbridge with the insult....I realize what sacrifices are made by these men....I could call you out on the 'assholes' comment but that would just be feeding your bullshit....AND for cripes sake lighten up....I'm sure the seal would see some levity in my comments ...unlike you who is obviously against any levity on this board
