you would think tho with a good HC seeing the issues...he would have made the call to say...make a change....and we didnt....which leads me to think Osh was full on board with that if not part of the main force pushing it...for the most part our teams have been good with the former coach...the ugliness and total dissarray reared up with the addition of the new punter

Jamieson Sheahan is currently the only official punter on the roster, unless they pick one up in the draft or the global draft, the job is probably his by default.

Cannot understand how McRae was kept around as long as he has been, unless he worked for minimum wage. He may be multi-talented ,but usually that means he isn't real good at anything at particular.

I think McCrae had plenty of talent, but not the best situation to be in with Brady hogging the ball and the dedicated crew  of receivers he was competing against plus Grant.  As for wages, he probably played for close to minimum throughout his tenure, can't fault the guy for trying to make a living playing football.

Yeah it does look like a lot of foot 'foot dragging' with regard to the league and argo's.....The 'special investigator' better get a move on and why isn't this guy named and who selected him.....was it Randy??

Don't see why this guy matters at all, it's either a civil or criminal case, the CFL can react appropriately after the official verdict is rendered, instead of trying to implement corrective action ahead of time.

You mean 80% of the pro sports athletes in North America?
Idc about the weed what so ever. More worrisome when a guy red shirts for academic reasons to me. If you can’t find and stick to the mail it in courses in football schools that’s scary. Though even that I think is over rated. I hate the ncaa development system for sports. It’s soo broken and out of place it’s not even funny.

Remember when we had a db pop for mdma a couple years back? Better than that too. I’m pretty sure his reaction would’ve been oh crap they test for none peds?

interesting... Dave's been working for a station out of Saskatoon... I have some buddies working there. AM Country station, primarily, with a particular focus on news and sports. Dunk, I thought, was based in Ontario. Not sure if he's moving to The Gap, or just going to fly to various games or what... but it's a young duo that's clearly very passionate about the CFL... so that's a good thing. It's going to likely be a much more professional broadcast going forward, at the very worst.

Wonder if he'll have time to continue on with 3DN, from appearances it looks like he owns it.

  6. The CBC posting this ladies picture coming out of court seems like a public shaming move, I don't recall them doing the same for the driver that caused the Humboldt Broncos accident or any other person responsible for multiple deaths, like the guy from Carman that killed his family.  If anything she is guilty of being senile.

The bonus would be if we’d use the designated national rule in the first place.

I’d be meh on Lucky. He’s been injured often and age will take a step off, if it hasn’t already

Better off to find a good young returner if Grant doesn’t sign imo.

Unless Grant wants to play in the UFL for less or retire, he doesn't have many options left, finding an equivalent replacement for his dynamic ability, experience and toughness won't be easy.  If Walters can't sign him shortly, I expect a mediocre return game, much like we saw most of last season.  If there is any money left, perhaps he can pick up a known castoff from another team for min. wage after TC cuts.

I only learned today that Flaherty isn't actually Canadian... we just kind of adopted him. Wild.

Flaherty also did not start as a performer, he began his career as a production assistant with Second City in Chicago with no intention of ever going on stage.  He got roped into filling roles whenever an extra body was needed and began his career mostly by being in the right place at the wrong time.

dude is really well spoken and just seems like a good dude....  during the pandemic, the Bombers re-aired the '19 GC online and had various players doing a "watch along", and Paddy and Jake together were brilliant during the re-broadcast. So much fun... I'd pay folding money to re-watch games with the Bombers in their theatre-style meeting rooms.

Humble and practical guy, wants to be involved in football after his playing days are done, paying close attention and rubbing shoulders with those that can help him get there is smart.  Same can be said for Jake and Willie, projecting past their retirement date looking for future opportunities and getting involved.  That's how it's done.

A lot of the DB's will be LB's in the CFL at this combine.  Some of the LB's will be edge types.

DB's and WR's showed pretty good.  There were only 2 receivers who ran 4.7 or worse.  See what they look like in battle drills.  I feel like Ajou Ajou is a guy that might fall right out of this draft.  Think there's a crew there that will be long-term CFLers.

OL group at combine is pretty poor.  But most of the top 7-8 guys aren't there.  Dumoulin Duguay is a guy I could see us picking in Round 1.

Don't fully understand why they wouldn't attend, are they being advised by their agents not to waste their time on the CFL, or do they think they're too good for the league?  If so the CFL has a serious image problem among college aged players.  If you graduated from college would you limit sending your resume only to the top employer and not cover your bases more broadly?  If good enough maybe 1 or 2 of these guys will kick around on NFL PR's for a few years before kicking back to the CFL or quitting football entirely. I can see why the Bombers emphasize picking guys who really love playing football over players just in the sport to make as much money as they can.

Still recall the many wasted years waiting for Christo Bilukidi and Andy Mulumba to give up their NFL dream and return to the Bombers, neither of them ever did, nor did they establish themselves in the NFL as starters, thus forgettable careers.  Contrast with what Pat Neufeld has accomplished even with a poor combine showing, establishing himself as a 12 year CFL starter.  I seriously doubt any of the OL guys skipping the CFL Combine for bigger things, will ever match his career.

Great video, especially when Neuf. answers questions sent in by Stanley, Chris K, and Jake.  He also sheds a bit of light on why they kept Tanner Schmeckle.

Can’t say much on the other measures but where was the 40 run? Down the hallway of the hotel? Was there sufficient run out room at the end? Measures like that shouldn't be compared unless taken under the same conditions.

They only conducted the bench press and the vertical jump at the Fort Garry, apparently set up on a stage at one end of a ball room.

Chris-Ike too for backs.  I think if you want a FB you're better off taking one of those guys and seeing if you can teach them how to block.  Herzog would probably have to transform himself into a Demski/Coombs type player.  The FB's from U Sports are basically OL.  Mital might end up being more of an H-Back type too.  Not many 6' 230 lb receivers around.

This sums up how they view the FB position.

"The retirement of Miller – he’s now the special-teams coordinator – and the release of Damian Jackson last month also means the team does not have a fullback on their roster. That said, it’s not necessarily an urgent area of need. The Blue Bombers often use a sixth offensive lineman in short-yardage situations and could also feature a bigger-bodied receiver in fullback-type sets, too, if need be.

“I would believe that as a group – Buck and his group but also JY (Jordan Younger, defensive coordinator) and the defensive staff – they’re always able to fit the pieces together. Do you ‘need’ a fullback? I don’t know. Would you like one? Sure,” said O’Shea.

“We all have our philosophies on that,” added Walters. “If you dress a seventh O-lineman, is he athletic enough to handle that? Sure. Can a bigger receiver do that? Maybe. You don’t need to reach for a fullback that’s going to play eight snaps a game.

“But we obviously don’t have one on our roster and Marty and Buck would sure like to have one. We won’t just grab one at No. 8 (Winnipeg’s pick in the first round) because we don’t have one on the roster. It’s certainly a position group we’ll watch and there are some interesting guys here, two or three fullbacks here and a couple bigger tailbacks we’ve identified.”

Just show me the injury stats for kick returns and prove this isn't all based on anecdotes and speculation.

Probably based on the NFL study that indicated that was the case.

Maybe it's the CFLPA pushing for the change, cause I can't see any GM's being overly concerned.

Interesting.  This happens regularly with domesticated animals, especially on dairy farms

But with wildlife it's a crime.

Sure is, wild animals grow to the size their environment supports, on many small islands off the BC coast the deer population stands under 4 feet in height.  Interfering with the size of a species can throw the ecological balance off kilter almost as much as introducing an invasive species.

  15. The CFL Combine last week created little buzz for the upcoming season, most media outlets paid no attention to it at all, including league partner TSN.  This has to be the dullest off-season in recent memory, hopefully they bring back the concept of CFL Week next year in Wpg. and they put some effort into creating a bigger spotlight for their product during the off-season. The league has regressed in this department, the biggest story this winter has been bad boy Chad Kelly and we can't even fight about it anymore! 😄

Bombers sign receiver Isaiah Coulter. He was a 2020 5th round draft pick.

This one is interesting as it was reported he signed with the UFL 4 days ago.

    https://pfnewsroom.com/news/dc-defenders-continue-to-sign-wrs-add-isaiah-coulter/

They also signed DB James Campbell. He tried out for Seattle last year.

That makes 15 Import receivers competing for Bailey's old job.

Worked like a charm I'm the 2019 playoffs so I expect that to continue

I'd be surprised if it looked like that, Strev. played more like a RB than a QB in 2019 and barely made it through the season.  If he wants to establish himself as a future starting QB in the league, he'll have to show his game has grown.

The best thing for collaros this year will be having streveler taking snaps and the coaches not being afraid to throw him in as a change up.

Hopefully this happens and Buck establishes a pattern of making use of a Strev. package often very early in the season, and everyone is good with it.  Not always an easy decision pulling Zach off the field when things are going well, it can kill both momentum and drives and it can be looked upon as a questionable decision made in critical moments of tight games.

They shied away from inserting creative packages much last season as Prukop and Brown were rarely given opportunities other than real short yardage or well defined garbage time.  Pretty sure Prukop was given less greenlights to throw the ball and less bootleg options last season compared to the one prior, maybe due to the criticism he received for the costly mishaps made in the Argo GC loss.
