Very few options. Can’t see them nominating a cut player, so no to ADS. Haba has some stats, but only 7 games played and is now on PR after the Hamilton loss, so questionable. Sheahan the punter is a likely “safe” choice. Jackson is the wild card, and would probably make some heads explode if he got it. Would the voters reward a lack of stats but consider his multiple plug-in roles and the effectiveness of the heavy package in our dominant run offence and solid Prukop short yardage schemes, and let the system carry him to a vote?

My answers: The best sandwich to me is not my personal favourite (the steak sandwich - is it really a sandwich?) nor os it my most memorable sandwich ever (a thick cut hot roast beef sandwich with pan gravy and home fries in a New York deli at 2:30 am in 1986) but rather is the most universally accessible sandwich to the masses - the PB and J (other than those with allergies, anyone from 5 to 75 will not turn down a PB and J) Although more people know the term for a fear of spiders more than the fear of any other animal, for me it is the shark. You are out of your element, cannot see them coming, and truly defenceless if they want to attack you compared to fighting off other beasts. I have always been a cat person, but now have a dog, and at their best dogs are better than cats (but at their worst they are also worse than cats). I kind of take a pass on this one. Window, always window. Water - clear Oranges - apples are good with an additive (peanut butter, caramel or in a pie with glaze) but oranges stand on their own. Mandarins are the best. The Bond films currently (Spy Who Loved Me and Skyfall at the top) but the Mission Impossible franchise is top shelf since the 4th instalment. Truly though, I am confident I have not yet seen what will be my favourite action movie - the bar keeps getting raised. A pine forest is pretty amazing, but have to opt for vanilla as my favourite smell Having a past in health care, I can say confidently that geriatric urine and excrement are truly awful, and eschemic bowel is the worst. But in a non-medical world, I go with “wet dog” I’m a huge U2 fan, so a live version of With or Without You or Bad tops my list. But I will say that the Beatles “A Day in the Life” has a lot going on in it.

Always somewhat dependent on how good the team is, but the usual suspects would be (not necessarily in this order): Edmonton (pre-McDavid they were right up there with Winnipeg for cold, small, boring undesirable Canadian market) Columbus Detroit (take away the dynasty years and it’s a real city in decay) Calgary maybe Montreal (big city but lousy team, very demanding fans and media, and a French culture than many Anglophones may feel resentment to and from) New Jersey Buffalo Arizona (temperature aside, all the franchise uncertainty and the potential to re-locate would turn a few off, as well as a perennial doormat) Ottawa Minnesota (Winnipeg south, although why hockey players are turned off by cold climates is kind of funny at first blush).

I agree with all of that. I find the tipping point is where the lack of changes will spell our doom and gloom for some, and how O’Shea must be an arrogant prick who has lucked his way to winning in spite of his obvious failings, that some are too blind to see. I don’t think we are close to that scenario of imminent failure, others do. OK, difference of opinion, but the insults, gaslighting of those who disagree, reminders that certain opinions seem to be the only ones that matter because they used to play the game, and turning a coach’s decision or player’s roster spot into a character assassination of that person is over the top. At least to me, just my personal opinion. And I can certainly respect a heightened knowledge of the game and will defer to that opinion at times, which is why I defer to O’Shea and the coaching staff’s approach for the most part. The results would say fairly compellingly that they are doing the right things. And yes, they can be fairly questioned for their moves, we are entitled, but then we are also entitled to question the others who criticize O’Shea and use their self-proclaimed expertise to justify their position as beyond dissent, without being labelled as blind or fanboys or too ignorant to see it. Hopefully we can ALL get past the mud-slinging and get back to a good healthy respectful debate. And enjoy a bye week after such a big win.

That’s an interesting, astute analysis. I had read it much the same way, that’s why his last comment caught me off guard a bit. I have been more than a little shocked about the disgruntlement around a 12-4 first place team this year. People lamenting the inevitable downfall and regression that will see us one and done in the playoffs. Kind of figured that after the previous 30 years of true misery, this heater we are on would leave nothing but joy and satisfaction in its wake, because they don’t come around often. Can’t figure the mindset of why some want to be glass half full (or worse) when there are no strong signs of regression given our record and overall performance this season. Every year is a crapshoot, there is always a chance we will lose, be it a player crapping the bed, a coaching error, another team catching fire at just the right time and plain beating you on any given Sunday, or just dumb luck going against you at the wrong time. Best you can realistically hope for is that your team is built to contend and get you in position to win it all, and then the other stuff will take care of itself. This regime has given us that team built to contend for the last 7 years or so. Not inclined to diss them now since we are still in the thick of it.

Yes, you got a reaction. Let’s be honest, you were looking for one, to see who disagrees and who will give you the validating thumbs up. Here’s a more fulsome reaction for you. You know, for a guy who continually insults people and then says he couldn’t care less what they think of him, you sure care enough to make a point of always telling us how butt hurt you are when others you feel are beneath you clap back. If you want to take your ball and go home, you can do it without announcing stuff like “I would tell you, but y’all too blind to understand it”. Now I don’t really need to spend a day going another 15 rounds with you about who the 13 year old is, or what respect you are owed because of your resume and insider knowledge, so I will just leave this thought here for you, if you feel that the board is too immature for you to waste your comments on:

Voting happens in the regular season. So if BC beats us in the playoffs it has no bearing on the Betts chance. It would be a joke if anyone other than Brady won MOC at this point, there is no debate - it should be unanimous (actually Betts vs Demski for runner-up is the only close contest, and Demski may overtake him given where they are now compared to how they started). The only award that factors in the playoffs is coach of the year (or at least it used to when it was awarded in February, they may have changed it).

So of all the posts from today I could have responded to, none of which would have generated anything more than continued barbs being thrown (although the continued angst is getting pretty hilarious to read), I figured this might be one topic we MIGHT generate a good debate on. Coverage woes/horrible position after kickoffs: Where do people think the problems lie? For our return game, it’s easy and most likely correct that it all boils down to Grant being out. For our kicks, is it: a) the kickers b) the cover team (that would include the loss of Miller to injury) c) the coaching scheme d) the rules (moving the hashmarks in) I actually put it largely on (a). O’Shea says they changed the scheme this year. Is that cause or effect? I kind of think it is the latter, as we have new kickers. Sheehan does his weird Aussie thing where he line drives or bounces low kicks end over end, sometimes to the far corner. But he is not allowing hang time with a normal spiral punt for the cover team to get down there, and when he does not kick between the near side numbers and the sidelines the cover team running their lanes have more open field to account for that is in play. Castillo is great at his field goals, but a ton of his kickoffs seem to get no further than the 25 yard line, so opponents seem to routinely start at the 50 or so. Would simply having a deeper kickoff or a proper spiral hang time kick solve our problems, and not necessitate a change in scheme to account for the bad kicking, or does the problem lie elsewhere?
