  1. The problem might be the media has no idea about the rules also, the refs would have to explain to the friesens of the world what the rules actually are first. But they would have to use small words and lots of pictures.
  2. From what I could see in the highlight video, he would seem to have it all-good hands, decent size, speed to burn, not afraid of traffic and he even blocked well for other receivers. If he can keep his parts together, he ought to be worth watching in training camp.
  3. This may have been Etienne's wish- his stay here was not a good one for either him or the team, so a fresh start may have been the best for all. The problem is, with him gone, who do we pillory now?
  4. As much as a pain in the butt the ratio rule is, it is what makes the CFL the CFL and provides this forum with grist for the mill.
  5. Confucius said that there are two kinds of farmers: one will go into the farmyard looking for eggs and finding them, the other will go out looking for chicken poop and finding it. We see things not as they are, but as we are.
  6. Its all an Illuminati/New World Order/Left-wing/Fascist/Communist/satanic plot to make sure that the Bombers never have a dull moment. If only we had a benevolent dictator to sort out all the problems so that we could all live happily ever after.
  7. Except that the stats show Etienne had more yards per game than Kelly did.... Mike isn't trying to pimp Etienne here, simply saying that Kelly was less productive yet people ran Etienne out of town on a rail so why does Kelly as an import survive? Maybe because Kelly in his short time showed more than Etienne did in his 3 years
  8. I think its safe to assume that the new coaching staff (and probably the GM) have been over the videos of the past season or two and have made decisions about who has zero potential to make the team and who who has shown enough promise to be kept around. Decent NIs are pretty rare and Etienne has obviously shown himself as a non-starter or even backup.
  9. I took this to mean officials will be made available to the media for interviews, not the fans/public. Though I suppose members of the media could also be drunken louts. I believe that is mandatory for the media.
  10. Not sure if this is a good idea, given the amount of verbal abuse directed at officials during the games, and particularly after a close game. Refereeing is always going to be imperfect, and I could easily see drunken louts screaming threats and obscenities at an official who has displeased them.
  11. My thoughts, too. TJ Rubley would have been a better choice.
  12. But he might be as good as Kito Poblah.
  13. Isn't this some sort of small Australian bear?
  14. Goossen looks to have the aggressiveness, size and strength to be a good center, but since the center calls the blocking schemes, I hope he has the coachability and smarts as well. This is pure fantasy, but if Goossen turns out to be a decent starting center, and both Neufeld and Pencer step up, our O-line's woes should be a thing of the past. Greaves is not an all-star but good enough and it shouldn't be too hard to find (or keep) a solid left tackle from the pool of import talent.
  15. Sweet Jesus, no. I picked a bad day to quit smoking/drinking/coking.
  16. This is where the rubber hits the road. If the Bomber brain trust are doing their jobs properly, there ought to be a pretty clear picture soon about whether or not there's a winner in the current crop of wannabe quarterbacks. If, despite their best efforts, there is no confidence in this lot, then the Bombers may have to hold their collective noses and negotiate for Glenn.
  17. No argument here, but realistically, January is in the twilight of his career, and we can expect one more year from him at best, so if we can use his experience and leadership as a bargaining chip to get a better draft pick or such, we gotta do it.
  18. Yes, but just look at him now. It was so hard on him that he looks like he's....eighty.
  19. If he was schizophrenic, that would be a sure thing.
  20. Smith's athleticism, aggressiveness, speed and intelligence would seem to make him an idea O-lineman, perhaps at center (if he has long enough arms) or as a pulling guard. We need a smart, tough center to call the blocking schemes and we haven't had that since Picard left. Smith would seem to have a very high ceiling.
  21. Now you're just being silly.
  22. I did some research of this player- he seems to be the victim of bad luck more than fragility, and if that is the case, he ought to be a stellar addition. He can scoot, power through and catch with a good attitude. I couldn't check out his blocking but at 220 pounds, he should be able to be competent if not great. If he proves himself in the CFL, the NFL dream may be too tempting, though. Did you know that NFL cheerleaders do not get paid even minimum wage?
  23. January has been a good solid lineman for us, and one of the few bright lights in a sub-par O-line but I do not think he has much tread left on his tires, so his trade value would be pretty minimal.
