Lawless on Matt Nichols
I gotta ask you, have you seen that blowout-loss team, since the backup quarterbacking has improved? And the team record since Nichols' arrival has been.....? You have to answer my question first. The team has been more competitive since Nichols arrived, apart from the first game. But there have been zero wins. You can justify it because of this or that, but you can go back to the post-game comments of Kelly, Reinebold, Burke or Daley and you will hear very similar statements, that the team could have won if only (insert excuse here). Now then.....O'Shea's record pre and post Nichols is...?

Fire O'Shea
I have to agree with you in spite of my usual optimism. I cannot recall feeling as pessimistic about the Bombers' prospects. I witnessed some bad regimes like Spaavital, Zaleski, Daley, Rogers, Kelly, Burke and Reinebold, but I knew they were long shots and had little hope they would pan out. When Burke was fired, I believed that an experienced head coach and GM were needed, but I allowed myself to think that maybe the Hufnagel and Austin approach just might work out. O'Shea was a fierce competitor as a linebacker with a long career and ought to have had the right stuff, but all the available evidence says no. Where in Hell do we go from here?

If the horrible mismanagement and coaching of the past three regimes haven't totally turned the faithful off, I suspect that we will continue to live in hope that next year will finally be better.

Marcel Bellefeuille - When does he get axed
Coaching here scarred him for life. Not to mention what it did to Bomber fans.

Lirim Hajrullahu
If we had answer to this, we would understand a lot of O'Shea's mysterious decisions- like why Chevon Walker is still here.

Lawless on Matt Nichols
Someone here made a comparison between Willy and Kevin Glenn, but I think Nichols is a better comparison. Neither Nichols nor Glenn appear to have the right stuff to carry a mediocre team into the playoffs but can be real assets when used correctly. If we had not picked Nichols up for a pittance, I shudder to think how much worse the team would have been.

Yep some people are ignoring those things...probably because they have absolutely no bearing on this conversation. You can't apply generalities across the board as if they are absolutes. You judge MOS solely on his body of work, and with the facts you have, if you are the Bombers....certainly not on historical data. If we ignore History, we're doomed to repeat it. That's what my high school teacher told me.

Grey Cup Tickets
Nope. That was the Fat Lady commemorating the Bomber season.

Just because the offense came alive for 30 minutes last game against Edmonton does not change the overall picture. Why should it take until this late in the season to be able to identify a defensive scheme and compensate??
-
Lirim Hajrullahu
There is too much raw potential to give up on Hajrullahu just yet. Get him some specialized coaching from Bob Cameron or whoever but sit him down for the rest of the season. Maybe even have a hard look at that kicker on Calgary's practice roster.

There comes a point where "moral victories" are as debilitating as the non-moral kind. We need help in several areas that are self-apparent.

There is no "agenda". The facts and record speak for themselves. I was a cautious supporter of O'Shea for the first year, less so after the team faltered once again this year. O'Shea keeps repeating the same mistakes, mistakes that a good coach does not.

Lirim Hajrullahu
And when its time to cut the grass, you cut it at the top first. If the entire team, or close to it, is a mess that has to say something sad about whoever is supposed to be leading it.

Grey Cup Halftime Show is Fall Out Boy
If you can't remember, just admit it. Sheesh.

Henoc Muamba signs with Als
Yeah, he wouldn't have helped, especially late when we needed a stop. I wonder if he regrets his decision to not come here after that loss by the Blue yesterday. The Bomber defence was good enough. The offense was comatose for the first half and a bit. Muamba wouldn't have changed that, and the Eskies' running game was not what did us in.

When you have more blowout losses than wins, that ought to be enough to tell you everything you need to know.

Lirim Hajrullahu
There's an important optical that has surfaced once again and this time its Hajrullahu. I am not advocating that we take out the blindfold and cigarette but this is yet another instance where the Bombers (and I am assuming that O'Shea is responsible) have allowed a painfully obvious struggling player or coach to continue even when the evidence is overwhelming that a change was/is needed. Hajrullahu has been getting worse and worse with no repercussions and Bellefeuille continues to underwhelm. And then there was our "middle linebacker" last year and Chevon this year, etc. Is there a pattern here?

No End Call - CFL confirms it was an incorrect call
Listening to Rod Black blathering while the Bombers lose yet another game has to constitute cruel and unusual punishment or adding insult to injury. Or both.
-
Fire O'Shea
In Saturday's Free Press, Lawless opined that the Bombers ought to extend O'Shea's contract. For what its worth (aka: not much).

Brutal play calling costs us again..
But how many times was Nichols pounded and/or hurried into throwing the ball away?Oddly enough, after Neufeld went out, the line settled down a bit and he (Nichols) seemed to stay upright .. Goosen at LG .. Capers at RT.. First half especially, untouched defenders teeing off on Nichols. Brutal. That has nothing to do with adjustments. However if our kicker does his job today, 33 points is something I might have a hard time using as evidence to add to the already collected evidence thus far that supports canning our OC. Just focusing on today in isolation, this game is not on MB. You're going to have a hard time getting a lot of people who watched the first half to believe that.
