Pall & Pierre signed by Bombers

If we have to start 3 Internationals on the Oline again...Pall may dress against BC, (in place of Cornell) unless

  • we use an undersized Norris or Briggs as a backup DL...starting 3 Internationals on the Oline means we have to have 3 Nationals on the field for every defensive snap...we've been placing Nationals on the Dline, (Richardson, Cornell, Thomas rotating) OLB, (Teague Sherman) and field Corner,(Bucknor).  Cornell is apparently out with a knee injury...we don't have any other (uninjured) National DLineman listed on the roster; or

  • The coaching staff could switch things up and start 5 Nationals on O, (replacing someone like Bryant with a National receiver) which means we would only have to have 2 Nationals on the field for every defensive snap...(Bucknor, Sherman or Thomas)...this would give us the flexibility to have 4 International D Lineman manning the Dline.

It will be interesting to see what they do.  Neufeld still isn't ready to go...at the fan appreciation day Goosen told me that he's day to day...hope he can play and start...gives us more flexibility regarding our lineup.

Dressing Pall probably isn't at the top of our list of options...I would think that if we start 3 Internationals on the Oline, the staff will look at adding another National on O to avoid having to start a National on the DLine based on our lack of depth...

Kirk Penton @PentonKirk

#Bombers trying to shore up their depleted Canadian roster by adding DE Ameet Pall and DB Shea Pierre.

Bombers are also hot on the trail of Chez Helene too.

That comment sure dates you. Bet the young folk have no idea about that reference.

The passage of time has been cruel.

Helene, Mr. Dressup, and The Friendly G....The triumvirate.

K, someone explain.  I know Mr. Dressup and the Friendly Giant...who the heck is Helene?  Is that from Romper Room?

Edit: K I think I found Chez Helene.  It ended in 73 when I was born, hence me not knowing it.

Scouting report on Pall:

Bio: Three-year starter awarded all-conference honors since his junior season. Senior totals included 32 tackles/8 tackles for loss/3 sacks and after he had 60/22.5/12.5 the prior year. Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 when he was named to several All-American teams.

Positive: Hardworking yet undersized college defensive end who gets the most from his ability. Quick off the snap, fast off the edge and displays the ability to immediately alter his angle of attack. Plays with good pad level, keeps his feet moving and quickly regains his balance off the initial block. Displays an array of moves protecting himself, slices to the inside of blocks and consistently gets behind the line of scrimmage to make plays. Shows ability in pursuit and is fluid moving in every direction of the field.

Negative: Small and easily handled at the point of attack. Rarely used in coverage or asked to make plays in space.

Analysis: Pall is a hardworking defender who plays with a nonstop motor. He has size limitations yet could be used as a pass rush specialist at the next level in a three-point stance or standing up over tackle.

Regarding Chez Helene:

I think it was a CBC move to promote french language programming into western Canada for the pre-school set.

Protagonist Helene, was a matronly type whose "chez" housed a younger pretty brunette foible and the obligatory smart-ass puppet "Suzie".

Suzie was occasionally known to share a recorder bag with Rusty the Rooster...much to Jerome's chagrin.

Briggs is bigger than Cornell
