No individual stat is, and that is why I qualified my statement, but its a good rough indicator.

CFL Toss Up of the Week: Regina at Toronto
Considering the dearth of talent Trestman inherited along with a brittle quarterback, he has done very well indeed.

Passport aside...
Harris has dedication, power and smarts. Roberts had incredible talent and the center of gravity of a personhole cover which made it very difficult to tackle him. Had Roberts done some even average self-care, he would have been in the George Reed legend category.

Andrew Harris 1000/1000 Watch
Yet, its amazing that we have the third best O-line as judged by the number of sacks given up. I can't recall who the better ones are for sure, but I think it was Calgary and (WTF?) Edmonton.

MOP award
Just as opposition parties do not win elections so much as governments lose them, sometimes teams win it all because the opposition implodes at critical times. The only credible opposition to the Bombers so far this year is Calgary with the Riders showing occasional signs of life. I'm betting the real Grey Cup game will be the Western Final.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT...
The key to the Bomber success this season and the last half of 2016 was the recruiting that Walters oversaw, and chief among the arrivals which turned the Bomber fortunes around was...Matt Nichols. Nichols has exceeded the expectations of everyone, and before someone else points it out, the re-tooled O-line and Andrew Harris sure helped.

Boy, that's a lot of work. Thanks.

MOP award
Mitchell has the benefit of (arguably) the best supporting cast in the league, whereas Nichols has made his own case for the MOP award. However, whichever QB takes his team to the Grey Cup will likely win it.

D. Adams
Have we heard anything about the new receiver who arrived last week (Brown?). Could he be the piece we need to replace Dressler?

Calgary may not be the powerhouse team of last year (even though they choked in the Grey Cup) but they are still the team to beat. The biggest problem in the league this year appears to be the lack of good starting quarterbacks or at least their performances. Much as I hate to admit it, Jones' Riders have a pretty good defense (not great) and BC is fairly close to that as well.

Its even more surprising given the terrible quarterbacking in many of the CFL teams.

Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
If anyone needs a chuckle this morning, go to 3downnation and read Cameron Judge's twitter diarrhea- he describes a bizarre college life, and makes me wonder if he learned his lifestyle at Trump University.

If memory serves, we should be getting the word from on high about Westerman this week.
