Every team suffers if they lose their first string QB.  There's a reason he's first string, you know.  It's usually because he's better than the other QB's, or his dad owns the team.  So you can expect a drop off anytime you lose a starter.  And speaking of not throwing the game away, do you really think that Kevin "I'll throw it to the wide side... oh crap" Glenn is a good plan?

    Yup.

What I'm not allowed to have an opinion. Is another fan from a different organization not allowed on this forum? I'm not trolling. I'm simply making discussion. Grow a pair.

Snide insult aside, Kluchk has a point. Lets show a little class and humour around here, otherwise casual lurkers will think we are ex-pat Riders.

  3. We began the Bomber revival by hiring Walters and it peaked (so far) with the emergence of Nichols as a bona fide starter. The reality is that we are one hit away from being in the same win/loss category as the hapless Riders. I hope and pray that we will have a legit backup who can step in and at lease not throw the game away. Maybe, just maybe, Glenn will find his way back here again.

The problem for sports media in this town boils down to the difference between reporting and journalism.  Lawless, Tait, Penton are all great reporters.  Even Wiecek in the sports he's really into, curling and horse racing.  He's been brutal on other beats.  When Lawless got bumped up to the columnist role (journalism) he had to make everything fit a predetermined narrative, regardless of what happened or what a coach I player might say. Still a hell of a reporter, not interesting or really in tune enough to be a great columnist.

We don't have any columnists who are good at being journalists.  We have reporters.  They need to stick to what they do well.  The best thing a guy like Lawless does is break news.  His opinions are boring.  Wiecek's opinions are even worse.  They are entitled and self-centered.  I can't recall a column of his where he doesn't make some kind of "woe is me" reference.  Horrible.  You can't suck at your job and complain about how much you suck at your job looking for sympathy.  Nobody wants to read that.

Speak for yourself. I enjoy wallowing in schadenfreude.

Don't think Drew is the type to complain in public. We don't know what he thinks about his time here, but I did hear an interview the other day in which he said he was surprised when he was traded.

Hmmm.."surprised when he was traded" after the dismal performances of the prior season and a half and after his "understudy" stepped up and galvanized the team into a win streak.  That does call into question his grip on reality.

I would have no problem at all with Nichols coming back.  I think he's earned it.  Having said that, if he wants to play hard ball, so be it.  In that case I'd push hard for Franklin and keep Glenn (can't believe I'm saying that).  No to Durant.  With his injuries and age, there's just too much risk.

The only problem with this scenario is that the Esks may have an overinflated sense of his value and we would probably not be the only suitors.

The opposition in 2008 were planning on forming a coalition government to oust Harper in a coup & at the time the recession had just got started. Harper had a completely different budget but was forced by the Libs, NDP & Bloq to rip it up & go from an austerity budget to deficit spending.

A "Coup?" Like the Conservatives and Reform untied to oust the Liberals? If it was the sole pressure of the opposition, then why did not Harper  impose a fiscally conservative budget regimen each year when he had a clear majority?

One can argue that stepping into power during a global recession and having to pander to the opposition in minority government situations led to those deficits....

Except that Harper didn't have a minority government for three of the five deficit years, and clung to power only by asking the pliable governor-general to do something never done before in Canadian history- prorogue Parliament when there was every reason to believe that Harper was going to lose a non-confidence motion.
