It can be tricky to get jury convictions in cases like this.
Cops in the US rarely get convicted, even when the evidence is overwhelming.

Everyone said MOS was too attached to Willy until he wasn't. He may be loyal but I don't think if there was a viable option at QB he wouldn't pull the trigger.
The criticsm of O'Shea about repeatedly saddling a dead horse (Willy) was, IMO, totally justified. I obviously don't know all the facts, but it sure as heck looked like finally starting Nichols was either a deathbed repentance or Walters holding a gun to O'Shea's head. Before the Big Switch, pretty much everyone on this forum and God knows how many other fans knew that Willy was broken beyond repair, but O'Shea kept throwing Willy out there.

He won't be an FA.....technically he is because he adjusted his contract (same with Stanley Bryant) but he'll absolutely be back next year. Signed a 2 year contract and just helped the team by renegotiating the terms a bit this year, to help with the cap...
Good news, then.

A few more seasons of losing football and you won't see many green jerseys.
Don't think it will come to that. The Riders are so woven into the culture of the province that they're like McDonalds in North American culture. Besides, what else do they have to root for?

You don't think it should just go to the coach who wins the GC every year but think it should go to Campbell because he won the GC?
That's a contradiction.
In what year would the coach winning the biggest game of the year, the Grey Cup, not win the CoY award then?
Particularly when the RB's were such underdogs.

A key vet or 2 from free agency is what i hope for. If we get one projectable starter ill be very happy. Especially since basically all of that list will be back for TC. I also expect us to spend more total between no1 and no2 qbs this year then last year. Bryant probably wont see much change in re signing, but medlock could.
I can see Medlock being pursued as hot property.

I just read this on NFL.com... unless I'm reading this wrong, I can't understand what is going on here:
"Ronald Gasser, 54, was at the scene and told deputies he shot McKnight, Normand said. Gasser was not arrested, but he was taken into custody for questioning. Gasser was released overnight and not formally charged..."
This sounds like he's admitting to committing the crime, yet they don't press charges? Seems odd? I am reading that wrong?
The criminal code in the US is not like here in Canada- it varies from state to state, and many states have laws that state a killing is justified if the killer believed he/she was under threat, or like Texas if your livelihood (tools, vehicle etc) is at risk.

It absolutely baffles me that a "road rage incident" would escalate to a shooting... just a sad and terrible situation...
You have no idea of the fear and rancor that so many Americans live in. A friend goes to west Texas to a gated community in the winter and has neighbours who strap on a gun to walk 200 meters to the store inside the fenced area.

Of course. Just another unarmed black guy shot by a panicked, gun-carrying white guy without provocation. Nothing to see here. Move along...

Priority one...as has been priority one since Khari got too banged up to be effective...find a top notch CFL franchise QB. Amazing that no one has done that yet. The best we've had and continue to field is mediocre. James Franklin gives Walters a chance to make up for missing the boat on several very good QBs. Will he pursue that as doggedly as he should...probably not...and we will have to build an excellent team to prop up a mediocre QB in Nichols if we want to have any shot at a championship.
How does a team like Ottawa get a championship in 3 short years? Easy sign 2 franchise QBs. How does a team like Calgary manage to stay on top for so long....easy...replace a top notch franchise QB with a top notch franchise QB. How does Edmonton go from **** show to champions in two years....easy...sign Mike Reilly. This isn't rocket science and I am disappointed that the Bombers seem resigned to another year with an average at best QB.
Not that its Miller time for Walters on his QB hunt, but after all these years, average sounds pretty good.

CFL.ca publishes the pending FA's and to the surprise of no one except Rider fans, James Franklin is not among them. Rider Stronson's already humiliatingly plummeting credibility takes another blow.
Vaguely comforting to know that if we can't have Franklin, the Riders can't, either.

You don't need an Andy Fantuz type who can be among the best in the league regardless of passport, but our canadian receivers were underwhelming this year, and I say that as a Kohlert fan, but we need someone who can do more than we got out of the position. A star would be great but how about an occasional playmaker?
There are not too many Fantuzes out there, but I would settle for a Rick House type.

I agree it was a binge but Walters has targeted and signed some top free agents over the past few years. As mentioned MOBomberFan, Bryant and Moore were signed previously.
There's no reason to believe, in my mind, that Walters will not be trying to fill some holes.
Of course, there are fewer holes to fill now.
Overall, with a couple of exceptions, Walters has to be the best GM in terms of recruiting we've had in a dog's age. Since we really do not know how good Dominique Davis might be and Bennett is gone, we do not know how effective the QB search has been. When they hired McManus as scout, I hoped that he would be better at this than he's shown to date. The other needs seem to be defensive end and middle linebacker, but we do not know if O'Shea looked at who we have and said that it was good enough, so a possible mulligan there.

Now that Dave "Sticky" Stala is gone I can't think of any.
I would think that Getzlaff and Bagg would be pretty close to being premier receivers, although Getzlaff is very near to the boneyard.

Oh, and Medlock.
And Dessler.
And Smith.
And Shologan.
And, oh yes, Cummings.
That was a very rare binge.

Historically, every year we get our hopes up and then.......nothing. Or nearly nothing.

The draft has always been a crap-shoot in every sport and in the CFL, we have added complication of the NFL lurking to shower any promising player with money to migrate southward. Still, we desperately need a homebrew premier receiver more than we need another promising quarterback.

it's pretty close...
It may not be as nutty as it first seems. Reilly would command a helluva price in a trade, and he is doubtless making mega bucks. Reilly has also been taking a real beating and I'm pretty sure all of his parts are not working like they used to. If Franklin is oozing potential, making a lot less money and is less beaten-up, a deal may make sense.

Walters will not let our coach walk to tor or mtl, i bet all the details are done, just waiting for the right day to have a press conf
Like it or nor, this probably gospel. Whether or not he gets a smoking hot offer to go back to his home province, that we cannot control. Walters wants O'Shea back, Period. And I do not consider how popular a coach is as a measure of how good as coach he is.

Take it for what it's worth, but I had a diehard Stamps fan talking to me about MOS at curling last week, saying they thought he was the most important FA of the upcoming offseason. Thought he was absolutely one of the best coaches in the league and loved how prepared he has the players to start a game....
Would that explain all those slow starts this season?

Why are posters who want MOS fired also the ones who think the Argo's are trying to poach him? If he's such a shitty coach like they say, repeatedly and endlessly, why would another team drop huge money to get him to head east? Do you not see the logical disconnect there?
(not singling anyone out, I've seen multiple people spout this **** here and on the other forums)
Alert: the Argos also thought that Willy was the messiah and turfed their whole receiving corps, as well as readying themselves to sack their coach.

You are correct. I had meant to point out that evidence, even if solid, does not ensure a conviction. But I had a brain cramp. Sorry about that.
