Facepalm.  You miss the point entirely.  Racism and discrimination experienced by white males (which is probably 99% of people here) is a tiny fraction of what is experienced by all others.  We lead a privileged life compared to all others in the human race.

I think Michael Sam can be very successful in the CFL.  I was surprised he didn't make the roster of the Rams (although they do have quite a bit of depth at linebacker) given the excellent pre-season he had with them.

Just to address what you said earlier, although everyone else seemed to just move on from it, it kind of made me want to bang my head on a wall.  I'm not going to call you a bigot, only ignorant.  Being gay is not abnormal - it may seem abnormal to YOU because you are clearly straight.  But what is normal for one person is absolutely not the norm for an other.

There's a lot more to the Ferguson story. The officer involved, along with 8 others, was hired from another police force in a city some 70 miles away which was disbanded due to persistant racially-biased attacks on black citizens which resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in civil suit settlements and the state government stepping in. The intial arrest of the Michael Brown was part of a "stop and frisk" illegal campaign wherein blacks and brown citizens are stopped on the street (arrested) for no reason and searched. The officer did not have any probable cause to stop Brown who was walking home with friends. Yes, Brown may have shoplifted a couple of cigars prior to the incident, but Officer Wilson knew nothing of that.
Ferguson is 87% black but has a total of two blacks on the police force, and the two black officers have stated publicly that they experienced at-work harassment and discrimination.
In his statements to the Grand jury and his interview on TV (for which he was paid over $100,000) 6'3" 220lb Wilson referred to Brown as an "it" and said he (Wilson) felt like a child being attacked by Brown. Right. Wilson also said he had his gun out before he called Brown over to the car.
Does any of that sound like a benign attitude?

Come on man. I didn't call white people fricken losers -- I called young, smart white men who sit around complaining about affirmative action fricken losers.

And please -- go tell a black person in Ferguson, MO that "its no longer 200 years ago."

Yes, because for the last 200-400 years it's been the blacks and natives in positions of social, economic, and political power. *

I was impressed by both quarterbacks.  Both Callaros and Mitchell did well to evade pressure to turn potential negative yardage into positive yardage on several occasions....although Mitchell struggled with accuracy a little in the second half with some throws that were slightly off that could have resulted in positive yardage/first downs.  On that interception, it's tough to say for sure, but it appeared the intended receiver slowed down on his route at the point the ball was released by Mitchell - he could have contested that ball, but instead it was an easy interception.

Ticats did a great job on defense in the second half.  Continued to limit Cornish on the ground when he did carry the ball, constant pressure on Mitchell, appeared to be good coverage in the secondary although it's tough to tell for sure on TV.

LOL at the fans on Ticats forum whining about the penalty - Half the Distance (biggest whiner and homer I've seen on any CFL forum when it comes to calls by the ref) and AnotherDork posting tweets by Doug Brown and Arash Madani saying the officials determined the game...another claiming it was a borderline penalty..yeah right, it only allowed Hamilton to score a touchdown!  There was two penalties that were legit on that kick return touchdown.  Funny thing is some of those same posters will complain about Arash and Doug calling them arrogant and idiotic when it doesn't fit their homer viewpoint.  Bigger whiners than what we have on our forum.

Arash Madani saying in front of the largest Canadian TV audience of the year the officials determined the game.  You can tell he works for CFL-Hating Rogers.  No Arash, the CFL officials did their job.  If that wasn't called, I'm sure you would have pointed out the incompetence of the officials for NOT calling the hold and blocking from behind on the replay and said the same thing!

Sounds like Hufnagel will be headed upstairs so to speak to concentrate on GM duties.  Should hear an announcement tomorrow by the looks of things and we will probably get an announcement for Dickenson as the new head coach.  Congrats to Hufnagel as one of the greatest coaches the CFL has ever seen..albeit only for 7 years, but what a record!  And congrats to the Stamps.

Ticats impressed me with Collaros and their defense.  I was expecting another boring non-competitive Grey Cup for the 4th year in a row, but they didn't roll over and quit in the second half.  Assuming they can keep all the key players around for next year and there are no serious injuries to Collaros I can see 12 wins in 2012.

Everybody who is a CFL fan & especially a Bomber fan knew this scenario with Etch's defenses would happen. If MOS sticks with the guy it'll be the beginning of the end for him as a HC. The optics of keeping the worst DC in the CFL around for another season is bad optics for a Bomber team that needs to sell positivity to the fanbase. We don't need a stubborn HC. We need a HC who will do what is necessary to win & make the tough decisions. Etch has to go. There, I just summarized Lawless's article...

Who were the individuals who came back for more after abuse?  You do realize that sexual predators can have power over individuals they abuse right?  Blame themselves, might come back to the predator thinking the abuse will stop if they are the ones that change their behaviour, not the abuser.

I remember hearing from Theo Fleury being asked why he hired Graham James to be coach of the Calgary Hitman after suffering years of abuse at his hands, and his reponse was, "That's the kind of power he had over me."

The reason other people come forward after the initial charge is filed is not jumping on the bandwagon to get noticed, it's because someone took the courageous step to come forward knowing the risks involved - damage to their professional careers, embarrassment of having details of their private moments revealed to public, being doubted (like in this forum with some of the subtle or not-so-subtle misogynistic comments) and ridiculed.  Those others know they are not alone in their suffering at the hands of the predator.  I can only imagine the stress involved in coming public with something like this and I'm sure many victims would rather suffer in silence - not worth the trouble to go public in many minds.

$499 IS the season ticket holder price unless you commit for 3 years. My whole point is the $100 discount is a sham. That just supports my point. Looking at it your way, fans are subject to a $100 penalty for not commiting to season tickets for 3 years.
This has Wade written all over it. I've been impressed with his work so far, but this $100 penalty unless you commit for 3 years is disappointing.

Not even close.  It's been a long time because of the coaches and players we've hired.  The only way the fans effect the team is by not buying tickets and merchandise.  That happens when we aren't winning.  Quite frankly, Bomber fans are some of the best in the league for putting up with constant mistakes the organization makes.

Calgary basically built their entire Canadian OL in one season. Brett Jones, Shane Bergman, and Brander Craighead drafted in 2013, with Dan Federkeil added through trade/free agency in the same offseason. It doesn't have to be as hard as we make it look.

That excuse is getting almost as old as the original sin and this draft thing is also getting well worn. How many of the Oline guys do we have left from our first choices? The fans had nothing to do with the choice of Etienne. But I guess it much easier to blame the fans instead of the very poor choice of managers we hired. We didn't trade or burn our choices, we wasted them because we picked the wrong guys. Further we did not pick up vets that could have helped us but choose to go with raw US rookies in previous years or in this year for that matter. How are the fans to blame for that? We let an all star guard go because we wanted to make him a center and he said no. (His words).

However, after the results of this year it will be very hard to blame the fans again. Going into next year with this team will get MOS in a very bad position comes LDC. One thing you must agree with, the fans will not wait another 2 or 3 years to get results and they shouldn't. Hamilton were 6-12 in 2012 and Grey Cup participants the next.

By the way MOS keeps saying he has a very good team, so much for the destruction of the core.

Too focused on wins and losses?     You can't be too focused on wins in professional sports.  It's what defines the team and the players and the coaches as winners or losers.

O'Shea and company can only be blamed for this year's results, but this years results are no where near good enough.  8th in a 9 team league.  Only beating the expansion team in points.  Only beating 1 western opponent.  Not winning since some time in August.  These are all things that this group of management, scouts, coaches and players have to take blame for.

You need to start comparing our team to the other teams in the league instead of last years, 'one of the worst teams in Bombers history' team.  The only comparison that matters is how they play against the other teams.

I was at the game and there were a few instances where Willy could have thrown the ball away but for whatever reason he held on to the ball and tried to run or turn away from the d-lineman only to be sacked instead.  Those are on him.  On some plays he simply didn't have enough time to get rid of the ball - the O-line was incredibly porous on those plays, moreso than normal even for them.

On that last second hail mary, I'm pretty sure Willy didn't have 4 seconds to get rid of the ball.  More like 2 - 2.5 secs as the 4-man rush somehow beat our 5 linemen.  Willy had to turn away and didn't have time to square himself for the throw downfield before he was sacked yet again.

Line was bad, but Willy has to take his share of the blame.  On that first interception, the receiver was already covered and the safety was already heading towards that side of the field (probably 10 yards from the receiver when Willy was just starting to make the throw) and yet Willy still makes the throw deep downfield anyways!  Pretty much impossible odds for the receiver to come down cleanly with the catch when the second defensive back can clearly see what the Qb is going to do (Willy was running out of the pocket at this point and his eyes were clearly locked downfield on that one receiver) and moving in that direction, and on top of that, the receiver is already closely guarded by the assigned defensive back.  Just a real dumb decision by Willy.  Would have been fine if it was a last second hail mary, but it wasn't.  It was a poorly thrown ball that the receiver had no chance on.

Second interception was simply an inaccurate poorly  thrown ball right at the defensive back.  Neither of Willy's are what I would call a good interception like the ball thrown by Glenn right to Arcenaux where the defender stepped in front to make a last split-second INT. Rather they were poorly thrown balls the receivers with no chance for a reception.

And those corner route calls in the endzone?  GRRRR.  Has Willy completed one of those in the second half of the season?  Bellefool deserves some (or most?) of the blame for continually going back to this play when it clearly does not work, and Willy deserves some of the blame for displaying such poor accuracy on these particular throws.  Seriously, you would think at this level he would place the passes at least within arms reach of the receiver, not 5 yards over their head..or even further as seems to be the case on some of  these plays.

One thing that really strikes me about Willy is how poor his throws are on the corner routes.  Has he completed one of those passes in the endzone in the second half of this season.  His long passes are generally quite inaccurate as well.  Glenn certainly throws a better long ball than Willy, that's for sure - 2 completions for ample yardage and another that would have been completed, but for pass interference.  I certainly won't say Willy is the best QB we have had since Khari..not yet anyway.  Glenn, as a Bomber, was a stepup.

draft picks are crap shoots for sure, even in football where men (not boys like in the NHL) are drafted. Primarily, it is injury related. But C'mon, he passed on Nate Coohorn and drafted Jade Etienne (who chances are would have been there in the second round) and he drafted Pencer even though he already had a history of injuries. He also drafted Mulumba even though he had already committed to the Green Bay Packers. If history has proven anything, it's that guys like Mulumba are still available and picked in the 2nd/3rd round, especially if a team has multiple picks as they can afford to waste one on a hope and a prayer.

Mack could've done a lot better than what he did. Only saving grace (no thanks to Mack) is Etienne did bring us, eventually, Drew Willy. But he did not draft well, and I don't think he even fully understood the CFL draft. Walters does.
