GCn20 got a reaction from Logan007 in Cotton BABY!
On numerous occasions Cotton ran straight into narrow creases, and then through them, for a positive gain. Grigsby would have stopped dead in his tracks because he simply wasn't able to break tackles and doesn't have the vision to see where the crease might be unless it was a gaping hole. Grigsby was not a very good running back.

A very timely performance by Cotton for the psyche of our team. Grigsby could have remained a locker room cancer even after his departure had Cotton not quickly shown that he is clearly the better back. He did, and now all the Grigsby hub-bub will be quickly forgotten.

GCn20 got a reaction from blitzmore in Kelly benched instead of Romby
Are you suggesting they'll leave him uncovered? You do realize that stretching the field is not a coordinator decision  unless the decision is to leave him wide open behind coverage. Romby's speed stretches the defence. Whether or not he gets a ball thrown to him is irrelevant. Romby love him or hate him is one of the best in the league at stretching the field. His lack of production thus far may cause defences to gamble and give him a little room behind coverage but that's a very risky play call on defence. One you are not likely to see.

LOL. Unless a person is player or a fly on the wall in the Bomber's dressing room they have absolutely no idea how or what MOS communicates to his players.....and that's the way it should be.

GCn20 got a reaction from SPuDS in Durant likely to return this season
Well it seems that Durant returning is neither a slam dunk nor "the plan". In today's Leader Post, Chamblin stated directly that any talk of Durant coming back this year is premature. He is not even at the point where he can hold or grip a football yet, let alone throw according to Chamblin. He says that no one will know whether Durant can return or not until he actually demonstrates that he is ready. Chamblin said they have absolutely no clue what the timeline for that might be. They may not extend him on the 6 game IR after October 18th on the off chance he can return this year but it is no slam dunk he will. His comments sure didn't sound like a coach who thought his QB had a strong chance to return and they certainly fly directly in the face of the wishful thinking tweets we were reading from the Rider media yesterday. Fraser....I'd say you will almost certainly win your bet.

BTW, Migs, you keep referencing Doug Flutie as an example. First of all, you do realize that two people can have the same injury but different degrees of severity right? Doug Flutie had a slight tear of his tendon in his elbow. In fact, he played several games before the doctor's and Flutie made the decision to repair it before it became worse. Durant's was reported as a complete tear of the tendon...a much worse prognosis. Comparing the two is simply not applicable.

Listened to Sportscage and what Migs forgot to mention is that Taman was speaking hypothetically. He said there is a chance that Durant could be suited up for game 17 or 18 depending on how his rehab goes. Nothing definitive saying he will be back and a lot of hope and "there is a chance" talk. Migs spun the entire thing.

So let me get this straight...the day after Taman's trade offer is rejected by the RBs Durant suddenly has an excellent chance of returning. Doesn't take a genius to figure out that the Riders are desperately trying to not give the impression that they are desperate. No one offers a 1st round pick and a roster player for a 40 year old QB rental unless their QB is out for the season. Don't really care what Chamblin, Durant, or Taman SAY right now. Actions speak louder than words and the ACTIONS say that Durant is toast for this year. I found it especially comical that the timeline for "Durant's return to throwing" is the week FOLLOWING the trade deadline.

An emotional and pissed off Mike O'Shea after a tough loss.....correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the exact reason we hired him? Can't wait to see the week of practice our guys are going to have. I guarantee that MOS will leave his fingerprint on our preparation this week. This is a good thing people. I've been waiting a few weeks for this.

We have all been awfully down on our team for the last few weeks, and I get why. But we have a good team. We need to be better but if we are we can compete with anyone. There is no reason we should be handing out losses to anyone. We may not win them all but I strongly believe that we should not be conceding losses to any team before the game is played. We have as much potential of having a late season winning streak as anyone...well, except the Riders...they are screwed.

Yes, speaking of gutless trolls, I didn't think you would "bless" us with your presence so soon after that debacle yesterday. I guess as far as trolls go you're not compeletely gutless anyway. As for not coming on here acting like a jackass after the LIons game, I wouldn't pat myself on the back for that. Chances are you knew you would be put in your place if you did. An act of cowardice is not an act of kindness.
Come on over though and keep beaking, you won't find the mods protecting you over here.

No idea, but Rider fans who come onto Bomber forums acting like clowns shouldn't go throwing stones at Bomber fans who post on the Rider home forum. We all read what you have to say over at Riderfans about the Bombers. Don't come looking for sympathy and crying crocodile tears over here if a Bomber fan makes you look bad on your home forum. You come here all trying to give the impression that you're a nice guy but everything you say to Bomber fans and about the Bombers on your home forum is real douchebaggery. Own it.

Thanks for the input doc. Glad you know so much about his injury to make that prognosis based on zero information. Trolling again, I see. At any rate, Willy gives us a chance to win. The Riders chances went up in smoke the day Durant's season/career was ended. Hope you find some humility when your team doesn't win another game this year.

The Riders offence was a discombobulated mess today. They may not win another game this year if this keeps up. Full panic mode over at Riderfans right now. MFranc is just a frantic mess beaking off some Bomber fan over there. Too funny. Make sure to give him the rough ride if he has the guts to show up here...he had some harsh words about the Bombers over there.

It goes a long way with all the players not just on our team but around the league. Players talk to each other about how they are treated by the organization and it has impact at FA time. The little things the Bombers do now to create player comfort and support will pay big dividends down the road.
I once had an excellent employee who toiled at an entry level position for 6 years for me. I never had room to promote this person and felt that I would lose him one day. Every day though there he was and I would stop and say Hi on my way to the office. One day I had a manager retire and it enabled me to move a couple employees up the food chain with well deserved promotions. He was one of them. I called him into the office and gave him the good news and he was ecstatic. I asked him why he never left to get a better job before. He told me he never even thought about it because everyday I would come in and say Hello and shoot the breeze with him. He said that made him feel comfortable staying right where he was because not many people he ever worked for ever took the time to acknowledge him. Sometimes it's the little things indeed. A couple years later I was doing an employee survey about why they decided to join my organization. Several of the employees responded that when they came to drop off resumes that this staff member had spoken so enthusiastically about working for me that it kind of clinched their interest in working there.

GCn20 got a reaction from TrueBlue in Muamba, Inman, Dressler, Sheets
I will quickly paraphrase the 100 page thread that would ensue on Riderfans.

First 15 pages... Taman lowballed him and he should be fired for not making sure he had enough money to sign him. ( I call this stage 1...blame)

Next 30 pages....Dressler wasn't the same player as he was before and the ________ overpaid. We don't need him anyway because Ryan Smith is as good as he is. (I am not making that up...there are some at Riderfans suggesting this) (Stage 2....denial)

Next 50 pages.....Dressler is a traitor who obviously has a bad attitude anyway. He will never be as good as he was in Regina anyway and wasn't worth the money we would have paid him. Search for silver lining (more money for Chick etc.) (Stage 3...acceptance)

Pretty much how it goes with every player who chooses to move on from the Riders...even though they were a slam dunk to re-sign because money doesn't matter to a player once they've played for the Riders. So far, with the exception of Fantuz and Butler, Taman has been able to pull out the cheque book and keep Rider fans illusions of Shangri la alive. These guys will soon realize that after so many times of doing that SMS room becomes extremely tight and he can't bust out the chequebook with the highest bid every time. Dressler may turn out to be the guy where eyes get opened in Shangri la.

He sold his house in Regina in the offseason and his girlfriend now lives with him in Kansas City. Unless she has a piano tied to her arse she can move with him elsewhere in the CFL. You are probably right that he ends up back in Regina, but it won't be the no-brainer you think it is. There are 2 teams who have already confirmed they will be throwing their hat in the ring on Dressler. (Ottawa and Toronto)...wouldn't surprise me if there are more.
It never ceases to amaze me how Rider fans seem to think there team and city is some kind of Shangri-La that players would never consider leaving elsewhere for. Heard the same tripe about Andy Fantuz, Craig Butler, etc etc.
Taman will need to break out the cheque book in a big way for Dressler, if he doesn't he will lose him to someone else. Unfortunately for the RIders that probably handcuffs them if Sheets comes back or in renegotiating new contracts for guys like Chick, TBrack etc. before FA. Taman may be considered a hero now over there, but they are about to find out that his long term SMS strategy is not fundamentally sound.
