  1. Well I guess that then speaks to who has or had the ability to find, or trade for an adequate QB. That would seem to be a significant component of the GM job description.
  2. Don't confuse opinion, subjectivity with objectivity and being informed. Thanks
  3. Maybe or maybe not - I do have an idea.
  4. The biggest challenge for teams at the start of the season is adapting to the new schemes that new coaches often bring in. That is why some teams have early success and then tail off. They tail off after teams have scouted them and made adjustments.
  5. John Murphy has a reputation for recycling players.
  6. Not only did Etcheverry get run out of the CFL he got run out of The CIS half way thru last season. So I guess he is an unemployed expert. Just ask him
  7. Mack is not respected in CFL circles because of his NFL mentality and I'm smarter than everyone else. Yes, like it or not that is in fact the consensus of other CFL GMs and football ops people. You earn respect and credibility you don't get handed it or demand it.
  8. One position that can get u torched is SAM. We proved that last year. Once he gets found out as inadequate it is easy to isolate on him. He can run but he can't hide. It's impossible to hide him in a scheme.
  9. I can't understand why people choose to deal in this type of ridiculous speculation. To say there is an historical or statistical foundation to this has no mathematical or logical basis to it. I wonder how many people would choose to "guess" if they had to put money on the line?
  10. And if anyone thinks that Henoc Muamba is going to be the next Shay Emery at MLB they are delusional .
  11. The impact of thinking you can plug and play ala the Mack philosophy fails to take into consideration, team chemistry, leadership and the impact in the locker room. The difference between a glorified personnel guy and a General Manager.
  12. Why is it people continue to say a team is cheap? The cap is the cap how you distribute that money is a team philosophy. At one point Edm paid Ray 450k of their cap was that sound?
  13. In the big picture who gives a rat's ass who the media picks as the top 50. Ultimately it is who wins the Grey Cup. Let those brainiacs pick a team's roster and see how smart they are. Let them manage a cap and see how smart they are. Easy to be an"expert" when there are no consequences for bad decisions. We'll see how smart Forde is when he trades his cushy opinion in for a real life decision.
  14. He can practice and gets his salary. His salary doesn't go against the cap unless he is removed prior to 9 gms. If removed prior to the 9 th game those games then go to the cap retroactively.
  15. The roster deadline was 10pm. The Cfl status report gets circulated to the teams at 4pm EDT. The Eskimos and all teams have to give cut players a chance to see if other teams may want to pick them up before signing a pr agreement. Why people thing that teams can't take care of their own business first is beyond me.
  16. Gee Burke migh secretly be a league innovator and start a new trend. Next year dress the office staff or sell spots to the fans and run it like a fantasy camp.
  17. Dunning an (downagain) is egotistical enough to fancy himself as the next Bomber GM. How scary is that?
  18. It's all well and good to say don't worry we didn't play the starters....but practice speed and game speed are two entirely different things. Part of the preseason is evaluating players another critical aspect is getting a TEAM prepared to play. I'm not sure that component was fulfilled. Time will tell.
  19. That being said I'm not convinced this was a well thought out move and the potential repercussions, in the lockeroom were considered. This sort of move can motivate, can generate fear or can cause desension. You calculate the upside.
  20. A topic for another thread. This one is a discussion of the Hefney mess. LOL
  21. And who of that lot had demonstrated that they were in fact a bonivide starter? At some point people might want to look at who is the OC. As of last season this is starting to resemble the Mike Kelly era with no clear understanding of the CFL offensive game.
  22. It will be interesting to see if this is another Clint Kent debacle? Mack made the mistake of last season. He wanted to gun Kent but wasn't smart enough to A) have identified or brought in competition for his replacement and done it in the off season so his teammates could have mourned the loss a d got over it. The only good thing is a SAM is more difficult to replace than a DB. Small conciliation .
  23. Not a dime wasted on him......far more. Then why resign a guy you admiringly say lost a step last season? You can't justify one mistake with an excuse that contradicts the mistake.
  24. Flush away a 35k signing bonus. Lost a step all the way to the bank. Oh well. Next JJ
