That sort of sounds like some posters on the Rider site. I don't agree with them, and I don't agree with your statement. Any teams' fans should be welcome here. And mostly, they are. I want to hear different outlooks, and we should welcome input regarding our own team.
Its all in fun or jest, unless, of course, fools come on the forum.
But that's rare, and they are readily handled anyways.
Not to worry.
I've been to plenty of games, including this Banjo Bowl, and yes I've definitely seen some stupidity involving drunks. In fact, I've even seen a kid get beer spilled on him! It was as accidental as it was funny... very. As for the story, there were guys 'getting right in her face' and telling her 'go back where you come from' while her son is crying, then a construction worker refuses to let her cross the road and tells her to 'suck a ****' and trips her with a rope? Then another stranger grabs her child and hugs him for '5 minutes'. All I'm saying is I read the between the lines and something for sure happened to ruin their day. But come on, you said it yourself, usually nothing happens really. Yet on this day, a host of strangers in several separate incidents pick on a lone woman and a little boy? And there was no security? And everyone around them stood on and let it happen. Yes, I guess even I have more faith in our fans and stadium workers than that.
Ya... call me skeptical. I believe something happened, but I don't think believe the mob turned on her as described, or that security was nowhere to be found. I believe this story was embellished. Ya, people can be shitty. People tend to exaggerate as well. Whatever the case I hope that her son is not turned off of the bombers, and that they've learned something about dressing for a bomber game.
Yah, I don't buy it. Three separate incidents of abuse and no one stood up for them or witnessed it and security was nowhere to be found? She makes it sound like everybody in the stadium was out to get them,
it's kind of odd for you to just assume it's one of the die hard fans who would do something so deplorable... in my experience (winnipeg and regina) it's the diehard fans that are the most respectful... it's the fringe fans that just go to one game (usually the banjo bowl) to get drunk and yell at opposing fans... again, very strange conclusion for you to jump to...
Well Bombers have looked decent in their wins, not world beaters but OK. In 6 of their 8 loses they have looked like the worst team in the league. Discounting the Willy injury I say they are as good as their record. if he says they are better than their record, that implies more talent than has been displayed, which falls to coaching as one of the culprits.
Henoc is actually working for the CBC right now, which is why he is traveling all over Canada. He is filming a show where he disguises himself as zany characters and tricks random Canadians into believing really stupid things. Guaranteed to generate at least one hearty chuckle and even a guffaw or two in a half hour period. Which is far more than the Will Sasso version.
Yeah, I tried asking if the meet and greet would be open to the general public. I was told the next day the meet and greet had to be removed from the itinerary, after that it was only the game and the mall LOL.
It's looking like we'll be in section S about 10 rows back. If anyone still needs tickets and wants great seats, calling the Eskimos ticket office is your best bet (better selection than Ticketmaster). Same thing goes for Bomber games.
Also, huge shoutout to the Bomber ticket office for getting back to me (twice) when I asked if they had any spare seats from the Edmonton fan trip (which sounds like it was cancelled? bummer).
If anyone thinks the Stamps legitimately beat the Bombers as opposed to the Bombers beating themselves are out to lunch. We gave that game away on STs & penalties. And we did what all other Bomber teams have done in the past few years, we couldn't close the game out. We had a chance to win but we blew it. I was at the game & it was frustrating to watch.
